another crazy release by boy wonder tim. we cant really compare to any of his previous releases... its kind of bombastic acid influenced disco or something... but with some farley jackmaster funk basslines! cool release and a must have for all fans of aphex twin, rephlex and of course like a tim! comes on blue vinyl
underground darling mathew jonson with another extra-large three track stunner: right from the start swirling synth over a pinching beat suck you into a vortex before a rubbery bassline takes the lead and an electrical storm of dark, haunting sounds wrap you in. well, words dont do this truly symphonic oeuvre no justice - this has to be experienced in the dark and in earsplitting volume. on the flip mj gives free reign to his unlimited creativity with an impressive soundtrack-style tableau of electronic jazz, sounding like late bass-revolutionary jaco pastorius descending form the outerworld to interveave some of his crazy warbled, bend notes into a messianic david axelrod arrangement, mixed at lee scratch perrys echo chamber. miles above your typical pain-by-numbers club fare - simply huge!
heinrich mueller remixed two tracks of the forthcoming duplex album (late night driving) in his very special way and is (as usual) a few steps ahead of the pack and (as always) tries to push the bounderies of dance music!. on this release he delivers two deep advanced electro remixes of play our music. to make the circle round duplex remixes one of the two p.o.m. remixes into a classic direct beat influenced electro track. a steady piece of music which shakes like crazy! sit tight for the next remix ep!
the consumer seems to bring up some 'advisory' with a wide range of styles going from the simple and raw oldschool side of electro to the more fine and digital sound combined with a lot of mad and dark lyrics that brings each track a little higher. 6 very different tracks with a lot of surrealism and 3rd dimension and still you find some tracks with a simple structure - keeping it all down to earth. the consumer-sound can be described as a unique atmospheric, but yet very dry and sharp sound that includes alot of small crazy elements
