u is a producer and dj currently living in london. previous records for man make music have proven suitable for the club as well as home listening, while a collaboration with babe, terror as btu for erol alkan’s phantasy label was varyingly described as “pleasure with a sense of dread” (the line of best fit) and “akin to having five songs playing simultaneously on your computer” (the guardian). 2014 saw u’s debut ‘haven in a heartfelt world’ ep described as -giddy electronic fuzz that packs the subtlest of punches descends into dense glitch noise then returns triumphant gritty and melodic” (crack magazine) and “distorted dreamstates” (ransom note). after the deranged chamberedits of vienna for where to now?, u returns to the welltrodden path between flattery and irreverence in dance music with a special edition 2-track 12- for phantasy sound. friendly ghost enters with a splay of combatbongos, a thin synthetic aura draws over the fluctuating rhythms before a strangely negative bassline sets the pace in nuwave perpetual motion, inevitably spiraling back on itself into a clattering reversal. on the flip ascension hymn rushes headlong into a mechanical shunter, abruptly dragged back by a frail and singular voice reciting an uncertain mantra of selffulfilment over this blunted hardcore epic spanning 13 minutes. pressed to heavyweight vinyl, designed and printed by the artist in an edition of 300ish.
another ep from the label boss of home invasion.. franck deliver this time some kind of abstract dj tools here, using the 909 and the 808 and also some cool samples, this ep is surely sounding like a good one for this summer gigs.
at some point in 2013, friendly fires, andrew weatherall and timothy j fairplay (aka the asphodells), convened in an east london pub to discuss collaborating on new music together. the plan was to produce music that came from a place outside of their respective usual musical styles - a loose, open-ended process embarked upon for the pure joy of experimentation and collaboration rather than a specific end goal. the collaboration came on the back of two hugely successful friendly fires albums - 2008s debut friendly fires and 2011s follow up pala - and an acclaimed debut album from the asphodells in 2013s ruled by passion destroyed by lust, the latest in a long line of classic releases from andrew weatherall’s own rotters golf club label. the result is *before your eyes* and *velo* - two brand new tracks that take close to ten minutes each to reveal their full hypnotic glory. the tracks will be released as a aa-sided single on translucent, orange colored 12 inch vinyl and will be the inaugural release on friendly fires own telophase label.
from the soul-stirring opening strains of ex friendlys sublime start to the people are looking at you imprint, it is clear that the emerging nottingham-based producer has a gift for music that travels further than mere surface physical response. in a scene littered with disposable vocal turns, the simple poetry of rich medinas narrative that runs through journeyman resonates perfectly with the yearning strings and low-slung, bass-rich groove that come to define this exquisite approach to deep house. jonno & tommo hone in on the more rhythmical elements with their own dub of journeyman as a clearer club-ready intent meets with the psychedelic potency of the aqueous sound effects and that ubiquitous string hook. whether reaching for a more meaningful dimension to add to a set, or to simply drift away on the cradling nature of the music and its message, it is clear from the outset that this is music built to last.

with two of the alan parsons projects best songs, the lovely ballad >time< and the wavy-sounding >games people play<, >the turn of a friendly card< remains one of this groups most enjoyable albums. parsons idea, the subject of the albums six tracks, centers around the age-old temptation of gambling and its stranglehold on the human psyche.
music on vinyl is proud to present yet another beauty by these british progressive rockers on 180 grams audiophile vinyl.

royal oak with futuristic house sounds from one of hollands longest running house producers gerd. some gorgeous warm rhodes driven tracks with interstellar melodies. two tracks that sound like a stream of fresh air. friendly fire has an incredible drive with its warm rhodes chords and a deep sub bass. unique track that gives the traditional house ingredients a twist. vibration on the flip (which is actually a studio jam with the friendly fire parts) goes in a slightly slower house pace and is combines bleepy melodies with a deep powerful drive that reveals its nature once played out loud.

hot on the heels of the fantastic guy j ‘geko’ bedrock keep up the pressure with a storming release from techno maestro christian smith. this techno tinged 2 tracker, will delight both house and techno heads alike as christian brings his trademark sound of days gone by, back up to date with fantastic results. with its beautiful pads rising over a hypnotic bassline and chunky percussion, ‘flyer talk’ is a driving melodic builder guaranteed to have the floor on fire. on the flipside we have ‘friendly skies’ which takes on a similar vibe with more of a hook. the big funky bassline is going to make it tough to choose between which one to play! – my advice: play them both!
"if you havent checked out friendly yet, then youre seriously missing something. … he's be cracking out plump-esque dancefloor bombs like no other and this is probably his best yet.. klaus ""heavyweight"" hill turns in a heads down, monster of a remix on the flip too"

tinfoil is the project of defekt and sunil sharpe. initially forged as a studio collaboration in 2014 (and later as a live show), the pair have since racked up an impressive catalogue of 12″,,s on their own self-titled label. tinfoil’s sound is unique in today’s scene, reflecting the versatility of both artists, plus a combined know-how of techno and electro. their music comes primarily from live studio jams, enforced by a desire to get quickly to the point in what they do. this is no surprise given the fast, technical way in which they each perform solo. for their debut album, tinfoil provide a varied but cohesive collection of tracks. following the intro’s epic synth blasts, they open with a bang through “caravan life” – a sinister, bassline-driven destroyer that builds and builds over a blend of claps, filter zaps and crying feedback. “beads” continues in a heads-down vein, this time with a more musical ebm type bass and knocking rimshots that mark the first appearance of sunil’s role-playing, haunting lead vocals
