jeroens commemorating his roots by re-releasing a selection of search records from days gone by. each has been remastered in such a way that it retains its authentic and timeless energy. pressed onto fresh vinyl, this limited series contains some of the finest search tracks ever to be put out, handpicked by jeroen himself. in light of that it might be easily forgotten that jeroen search has been creating techno since the early nineties. and that he ran one of the most influential labels around back then: >search<. between 1996 and 2001 it was home to a host of releases, many from jeroen himself. released on vinyl and without any reprints, they ve since hidden in the record collections of a select few.

after their featuring on kyle halls boat party ep, the bologna based duo nas1 join the bosconi family with a lush six tracks vinyl strongly influenced by contemporary detroit house. a side starts with the chuggin and moody beat of -black coffee-, then continues with the stomping and sexy midtempo of -i don t mind- and ends with the more mysterious, electro boogie raw jam of -dallas vertical roll-. on the flip we find the slapped roadhouse blues of madturkey followed by the twisted gifted & blesseds re-interpretation of -i don t mind-. the ep ends with the melancholic and soulful textures of the shuffle groover -hoarse presence-. tasty!

from the sun kissed shores of brazil and the wonderful starlit nights of the mareh festival comes a new label, mareh music. mareh festival was started by a small group of friends whos only aim was to escape the big city, take an amazing sound system to a remote and beautiful part of the country, and then party together with friends and great music. it has grown since into a week long annual event featuring international djs playing alongside talented residents, and still has the same commitment to real quality and fun. mareh music is born from the soundtrack to those parties, and is launched to mark the festivals tenth birthday. so you can expect to hear beach bar boogie, disco-tinged dance floor movers and deep electronic groovers.

emotions, melody and rhythm. those are the keywords to describe jin chois new release on serialism records, >delirium ep<. the berlin based artist has already been on the spotlight with the serialism team for his release >full range< (with maceo plex on rmx duty) a couple of years ago. his peculiar sound has developed even more since back then, leaving a special mark on the electronic music by spreading its uniqueness via well respected labels such as lessizmore, contexterrior as well as his own imprint private gold. the original tunes are solid musical journeys crossing over techno and dubstep, somewhere between the berlin and london sound, sometimes between the past and the future. romantically charged of emotions and broken rhythms. delirium ep also includes a minimal avant-­garde re-­visit by jazz musician david koch aka dewalta from the vakant and meander family.

there are lots of producers out there who try really hard to do something else. then, there are these chosen few artists that effortlessly are something else in their own right. durian brothers and their magical array of modified turntables, sequencers and machines belong in this selected circle. so this mini album is a quite special and unconventional release, but that doesnt mean its not dance music - quite the opposite!

adelaide producer mic mills releases his long awaited debut ep on untzz twelve inch, a label he has contributed to since day one.

mallorcas dakpa has been on a roll since amam released his debut ep last fall. he has contributed to several compilations, including amams own hand out series, kina music s fade to k pt. 3 and wizz vinyl s sonar sampler 2014, plus eps for labels like district raw and serial number 849. but amam gets the honor of issuing his first own vinyl release, the distres ep. the opening title track is an exercise in jacking minimalism, vibrant tech house with just the essentials, but more than enough to get the floor moving. then, ademus gets into a slightly more colorful groove, with tropical percussive interplay and some whooping voice for a humanistic accent (is that brigitte bardot?). on the flip, virgo gives a modern update to the frenzy of acid house. the title alone brings virgo four to mind. on that note, this one is an effective tool for warping minds and evoking spastic dance moves. finally, the dependable gaetano vinci a.k.a. hooved reinterprets ademus with a heavy dose of melodic funk and symphonic washes, making the track into an entirely new creation.

vin sol & matrixxman open up their label, soo wavey, to newcomer en who drops this 4 track ep (including a remix by vin sol & matrixxman) of house and techno. the lead track truth steps out of the gates swinging with aggressive yet tucked tr-909 programming sitting nicely alongside dark motifs. ens and reality then delves into menacing minimal drone techno territory, ultimately yielding to a subtle call and response exchange among dueling 808 tom bass lines. on the flip side, 4u lighten things up a tad with soulful, atmospheric detroit chords supplying a much needed breath of fresh air. last but not least, vin sol and matrixxman join in on the fun supplying a hypnotic, off kilter reworking of 4u imbuing the remix with restrained chicago jacking vibes that flawlessly straddle the divide between house and techno. limited to 500 copies (no repress!).

harbour city 2014. sometimes people from different environmental backgrounds cross paths with one another through similar interests, and they notice that they have more in common then a certain taste in music alone. boris bunnik (aka conforce) is hailing from the small scenic dutch island terschelling, that can be seen as the complete opposite environmental background as the dirty streets of rotterdams south side that drew the first guidelines for frustrated funks watchword: mad drama from everyday life.

accompany the reissue of woo s into the heart of love, emotional rescue is releasing a limited 7inch featuring songs not included on the vinyl pressing, plus a previously unreleased version of the beautiful title song, which only appeared in later form on their cd only, la luna album. with the original into the heart of love album only appearing as a 60 minute cassette-only release, several of the albums songs could not make the first time vinyl issue from emotional rescue. therefore, this limited edition 7inch includes two of those ommited songs. the wistful english folk duet between mark ives and sue amor on make me tea and it s sibling on the album, a little long way. possibly woo s most straight forward folk song, make me tea is as the title imagines a very particular english poem. recording as a duet between two late night lovers, awaking from post-love making slumber to find peace and with it, a nice, perfect cup of tea. however, it is the inclusion of the unreleased version of the title song, magic in the dark that is worth the admission price alone. taken from the cd only album, la luna, the original s short and gentle story of late night love is presented here in it s alternate demo form. a different vantage point is shown in revelation and then exhaltation. the sadder start expands in to a beautiful and wonderus folk celebration. mark s vocals and guitar are later joined by gentle rhythmic percussion from brother clive, before clarinets duet to a yearning finale. woo once again showing their unique mix of folk and new age electronics. a one off to cherish.

number 3 on ruff draft comes from louis guilliaume. having met louis back in 2009 and followed his music since way before then, it was an exciting day when we received these tracks from him. known more for his harder edge techno productions on labels such as soundtravels, bio rhythm holland, teng, sd holland and a remix on skudge, here he edges slightly away from that harder sound. the tracks vary from deep, groovy and meandering house to a beatless soundscape reminiscent of early larkin and pullen to a powerful kick drum driven sermon.

merck 274350 with its propulsive mechanical basslines, industrial-strength percussion, and a germanic vocodered mantra, this teutonic panzer tank of a track takes absolutely no prisoners - an electronic matter of fact statement inspired by the passing of time, fate, circumstance, and synchronicity. holland s misanthropic high priest of psychedelic, doomy, dark house & techno, drvg cvltvre, delivers a trippy interpretation, turning the track into a lysergic love letter to this iconic chemical catalyst, maintaining the dynamic bassline of the original but adding a nagging 303 line to deliver an explosive 3am dancefloor device. one step closer to heaven begins with a metronomic, rhythmic new beat stomp and a nagging insidious synth refrain that recalls the more electronic side of new order. muscular synth riffs then drop in and out of the mix, taking the track into dark ebm territory and ramping up the pressure before the influences of giorgio moroder and cerrone come to the fore, propelling the track into a rapture of hypnotic celestial electronic disco.

make no mistake, for vault series 15 the doors have been flung open to welcome a new act to the fold. theres very little known about mistake made. no records or releases exist to date, but they have impressed vault chief subjected enough to have them join the sequestered berlin-based crew. and in sublime compliance with the vault series creed, this debut effort from the shadowy outfit presents yet another set of functioning and frill-free dancefloor material, complete with a rusted-through hue of its own. on the a-side >wrist< jumps straight in with marching intent, complete with fidgety hat work thats both anxious and infectious. then on the flip, >ricochet< opens with field recordings tossed into a stormy concoction of ticks, hats and fuzzy atmospherics, teamed up here with one of those basslines that will keep you glued to the floor. >indec< then concludes in signature vault series style an ominous, growling number rattled with alarm bells and screeching, clangorous detail. its one of those monstrous slow-burners that leaves you wounded yet longing for more. all in all, a rounded first release from a new techno tour de force. this isnt the last we will be hearing from mistake made.

a kaleidoscope of rainbow textures and rhythms disperse into the exotic soundscape of *tropical*. electronics, real folk instruments and noise-making objects feature here generously on this six-track concept album, blending together a sonic palette influenced by a rich variety of music, people and places. the material was initially written over the course of a few months during what seneviratne called *a beautiful burst of inspiration*. working with veteran producer asier leatxe ibanez d opakoa (electric lady studios, nyc), seneviratne then set about disassembling all the songs and re-working them meticulously, enriching the sounds by adding a huge range of live instrumentation, before processing the audio through vintage analogue studio gear. the vinyl lp comes with download code.

with this new four-track ep by rai scott the slowly emerging producer moves away from being the enigma that appeared on a split 12- with brad peterson that launched the inner shift imprint in 2012. and by the sounds on this ep, she s someone to be noticed. preceding her forthcoming debut on ornate, scott provides another four-track called reason to smile for inner shift music. it s the fifth release for the label this year and -we love you- certainly earns its place as the record s a1, sweet and meaningful deep house. -keep on- is a dubbed out, bassline driven tribal journey of drums and low-end rhythm completed by emotional chords that eventually takeover, while -cats and water- is on a funky, stripped-back and loopy 90s techno tip. and for some ambient fun that then turns house: -sky in the clouds- is a perfect b2. an exciting producer house communities worldwide should be talking about in the second half of this year.

tiagos interzona 13 label has quietly gone about its business across three acclaimed and sold-out eps. his unique reputation as a dj is matched by the distinctive and unrivaled quality of his productions. for his fourth outing tiago treads an arguably more experimental path, and using sem titulo (untitled in portuguese) on three of the cuts here only adds to the mysterious nature of the sonic treats within. present, as always are the deft rhythm sections and powerful arrangements, as subtle elements of disco, techno & new wave provide the bedrock for his trademark off kilter melodies and soundscaping. the darker underbelly of club life may well be the inspiration, but the mood and execution are pure tiago! another beauty then from this outstanding, diverse and incomparable imprint.

we dont really know if the young bryan kessler listened to kraftwerk, but then again we didnt ask - who cares, anyway? what’s certain, however, is that this punk renegade, songwriting wunderkind and all-around exceptional producer is a man of many faces, and all of them rock. discovered on stage while spouting anarchist pop slogans and showcasing an impressive underage mohawk haircut, he never was to be a bottled genius sticking to only one gun - and soon set out to become the lead singer and guitarist for neo punk nutters the pollywogs, while embarking on an equally public career as prolific dj and dance music producer

khaan started his dj career in 2005. since then, developed through his passion for electronic music, he has been setting high standards on the turntables. in 2007 he decided to start producing his own tracks, much to the joy of his ever growing fan-base. by now his electronic beats can be heard in various releases - *journey to africa* with the label tanzbar musik (including miss jools remix) or *control me* on the *venice ep* from blackrose records, if only to mention a few. further releases with prestigious labels like off, blufin or natural rhythm have proved themselves topsellers. this time khaan got together with alex gori from italy, delivering 2 good tracks for this ep, with a huge amount rhythm, feeling, and groove. for the remix we have no other than sis and zohki & roozlee from viva music, big love to you guys, think you gonna listen.

*somebody* is the first single from the new aurra album *body rock* due out later this year on family groove records. once again the world gets to experience a lost disco-funk masterpiece providing another glimpse into the genius mind of slave founding-member steve washington & brides of funkenstein / p-funk singer sheila horne. body rock will be the second and final unearthing of the lost but found master tapes originally recorded for quincy jones qwest imprint in 1984. slap bass, heavy synths, linn drum, sultry vocals... this is modern funk at its finest!
the 24-track master tapes were transferred digitally and then mixed on an ssl board by kamal humphrey at his all-analog flying carpet studios in los angeles. the result is a full sound enhanced by the natural analog process using todays digital technology only when needed to clean up the files.
da-m-funk adds a bit of dirt and grime by putting his signature re-freak on the track. a confirmation from los angeles ambassador of boogie funk that this is in fact the the un-cut funk and nothing but the funk.

if movin on is witchs rumours then kuomboka is their tusk. a remarkable follow-up to a timeless album that shows the band taking greater risks in songwriting and playfully experimenting with production techniques.

continuing his prolific run of new material for the label, johannes heil continues to push forward with his >transitions< series, here collecting four more unique tracks for volume 2. opening with the serene calm and krautrock influenced >transition five<, a five minute piece that opens up a rich synth landscape full of space and texture, we then move onto the first of the eps two full-spectrum techno trips. hotly tipped for the summer as an essential festival and open air moment, the powerful and optimistic energy behind >transition six< is hard to ignore. that combined with heils extremely well sculpted and high-end production, the scene is set for madness to ensue… on the flip side we visit more paranoid zones with >transition seven<. building from a minimalistic stuttering rhythm, a soaring sci-fi soundtrack of strings and intricate synth patterns lift the tension, while dramatic sound effects crash and shimmer across the spectrum. this then prepares us for >transition eight<, in which we find johannes working his refined club-sound into yet further directions and angles. at once hypnotising and dominating in its driving bass register and captivating arrangement, a highly charged minimalist club tool for 2014 awaits!

a huge supporter of hypercolour over the years, and perhaps an embracing of the british labels dedication to the uk sound (considering the frenchmans early deployment to manchesters legendary hacienda club in the late 80s as resident dj), its of little surprise then that the latest garnier project lands on hypercolour this august.

to rack & ruin comes thundering your way slap bang in time for summer courtesy of our italian disco brother in arms dj rocca and his compardre n2b. the usual high standard of sounds are as present as ever on the 6th instalment of our edits and reworks imprint. get up hits you with a rolling bassline that brims with plenty of pant flapping groove & wah wah guitar licks before that ever so familiar vocal kicks in for a full on reggae disco workout. weird safari certainly lives up to its name - a stripped back, dark & almost techno sound, alongside tinkering percussion and spaced out wild animal noises surely make for a weird safari. dubby pino has you from the off, all the foot stamping & money shaking elements are present - hooky guitar, fat bass loop, infectious percussion, soulful vocal licks and a gorgeous little piano break. mr rossi’s backpain starts off by getting the award for the best song title we’ve ever had on rack & ruin, but as well as that it’s in the proper groovy dance floor tackle category with a bassline & guitar that commands your respect and then when the 4/4 kicks in at 1 min, well just have a listen.

it is rare to hear a debut 12 inch single that really blows you away. that is hardly a controversial statement, in truth, most producers take time to find their feet, developing a distinct style over a period of years, rather than months. magnesii, then, is something special. currently based in amsterdam. the previously unheard of producer has delivered a stunning debut 12 inch for tom tragos voyage direct label. raw, fuzzy and in turns melancholic, spellbinding and intense, its three tracks bubble and hiss to the distinct sound of vintage analogue hardware.

as our true fans know, every now and then we leave our comfort zone to bring something else than techno. this season, we gave dib from italy the honor to be the unusual one. three tracks, three times basic, stripped down house that does well as a tool or a track in the early or deep hours of the night. or just for those people working hard at the office and wanting some deep house during their officework. all tracks have a very old skool vibe to it and breathe true deep house: not the filtered down vocal kind, but the breed that just lets a 909, 808 shine and some rhodes or warm analogue synths do the work. the first one is rather detroitish - with a nice acid stab and some strings setting the mood, the second one is more dance floor oriented and the third version is a bit of both. does it need to be said that dimitri andreas mastered it again? and that it is available on vinyl?

boskas british funk museum article no. 808 (barn 013) was a track that just had to be released on green vinyl, one of the finest examples of norwegian neofuturistic anglofilia ever and still very much a staple of our dj sets. were no dummies at barnhus hq, so of course we’ve been planning a full boska release on the label ever since we put out bfman808 back in 2013. almost exactly one year in the making then, santa cruz ep arrives. four slices of that fresh, clean, bass-heavy and totally melancholic scando-house we know you love.

frankfurts robert dietz first solo release on desolat robert dietz has been one of the most consistent producers around in recent years, with releases on a diverse assortment of labels including cecille, cadenza, running back and saved records. while roberts your so hood track featured on the desolat x sampler back in march, then this will be his long-awaited debut solo release on desolat, and as one would expect from such a talented producer it is a an striking ep.
