home invasion is the new label from real tone man franck roger, a man whose career has scaled the full depths of house music over the past decade or so. evidently seeking a new challenge, the parisian s new imprint promises to adhere to a vehemently underground way of working, with every ep upfront released on vinyl-only terms and produced exclusively on analogue equipment. ogers re-tracing of his roots pays dividends too, and whats most striking about the labels debut outing, the simply-titled home invasion 02 ep, is how very different it sounds to vintage real tone planes. gone are the whimsical, celestial deep house hues so favoured by the latter, and in there place is a series of cuts that expertly toe the line between house and techno without resorting to generic soundscapes

luca lozano, owner of klasse recordings presents this majestic 4-track ep on optimo trax. inspired by the past but sounding the antithesis of retro. in his own words.... the optimo trax ep was born out of a time when i was listening to a lot of old bleep house and rave, early 90s uk stuff. growing up in sheffield i was lucky enough to spend some time in warp records when it was still a record store and being around this music and the people that made it must have somehow embedded itself into my psyche. listening to pirate radio stations like fantasy fm as a teenager helped shape my musical interests as they are today and i guess this ep is somehow a reflection of that education, i wanted to make a collection of music that sounded like it was related to a certain place and time and in effect confirm my own identity within its context.

piston recordings label boss rogerio martins is next up on his own well-established label with a new track that gets plenty of great remix treatment from joss moog, james dexter and jr from dallas. martins has steered his label through a dizzying amount of quality releases since 2007 picking up support from the likes of laurent garnier and john aquaviva who have confirmed themselves as fans in the past and this new release is sure to find just as much favour with the top dogs. >gonna be mine< is the one martins original and is a classical inclined bit of mature house music with sombre piano chords draped over nicely shuffling percussion. subtle human sounds litter the arrangement and more lively stabs enter the fray in the latter half but essentially this is all about the warm and inviting groove.

daze maxim adds another episode to his practice of long-form explorations, on this his second release for lisbon’s assemble music. this time hes joined by a master in this field, baby ford, whose remixes over the past few years continue his own distinctive development of extended minimal house trips. dazes beginning an ending rides a skippy, loose beat for several minutes, the snares and hats gradually opening up as wordless vocalizations exclaim and interject with increasing regularity, the bass bumping contentedly underneath. pads join the equation for an intricate midsection – evoking memories of alcachofa-era happy experimentalism that nonetheless fit within daze maxims disciplined and dancefloor-oriented approach.peter ford recasts the original into his now unmistakable soundspace, where the push and pull between front-and-centre rhythmic components and evanescent background atmospherics creates that recognizable but undefinable sense of emotion, felt but unexplained. in ford’s world there isnt anything as simple as a beginning or an end, so the remix provides a valuable counterpoint to the original. given their now impressive track record, its no surprise that assemble music has pulled off another cohesive statement that works equally on the body and the mind.

luca d arle brings his fresh sound to newest i records release. throughout the past few years luca has developed some serious deep house driving out a fresh scene in southern italy. he has now spread his wings to berlin and is set to bring his version of deep to the nu-school of house heads.

the artist concurrently known as jackmate has been already been indoctrinated into our cult since he signed onto he pampa bookings roster awhile back. as soulphiction he is also co-founder of philpot, the stuttgart-based label, home to the majority of his releases over the past 10+ years.

the greater lisbon area is separated by the tagus river, north and south. bnm (blacksea no maya) are from the south side and pddg (piquenos djs do guetto) from the north side. this ep is the expression of work being done for the past couple of years through a monthly club night that put these crews playing together in downtown lisbon.
