welcome back to the movielike resonating sound world of the 23s. already in 2008 the mysterious one-man band proofed with the album “bolivia” that they are trying to do another kind of music – something that isn’t entertainment, something that isn’t show, something that goes gently straight to your soul. now the producer from nord-rhine-westphalia did it again and tuned in the longplayer “flamingo”. anew he delivers a special kind of cinematic journey music that grooves opposite to his other, more rhythm based hypnotic dance productions. also as the 23s he produces pattern-based music, but it pursues a different intention: each listener should dive into a hallucinatory world of seen and unseen films that his inner eye creates unprejudiced. all ten tracks are romantic smooth operators. they put themselves in service of an artistic vision, in which the listener should get lost in music. the album can be seen as a love-letter to the movie scores of the french 70s cinema or the impressionistic sound arrangements you can hear in the early cinema of peter greenaway. with double bass heat, discreet piano melodies, levitating guitar chords, some gentle horns here and there and beats that recollect the warm jazz influenced soul of oldschool hip-hop the 23s generate a sublime get-down-deep instrumental journey. you can listen to it attentive. or you can just play it in the back while doing whatever you like to do. it is recommended to play “flamingo” in a decent amount of volume as all loungey tracks begin to live bigger and brighter with sound intensity. if you play it flashy you will experience an atmospheric sometimes light-flooded, sometimes foggy 40-minute electronic journey that offers open-minded souls to fill the room between the notes with their very own milky fancy. soon the album will be accompanied by a bunch of remixes tuned in and twisted by producers like giegling and white artists edward, christian s of the cómeme tribe, canadian producer the mole and the german post rock and electronic music band to rococo rot.

a third release for the year from deep explorer extends the invitation to allstarr motomusic, aka zurich based producer and deepartsounds founder daniel piu. under his given name, piu has form for house productions dating back to the late 90s but seems newly reinvigorated following the decision to start working as allstarr motomusic, with beauty & simplicity following a fine contribution to the minuendo label. the three original allstarr motomusic exude an old school feeling no doubt developed by years of record collecting and are augmented by a fine remix from anthony nicholson.

a fifth edition of the mosaic split series arrives, pairing up productions from anne errez and clandestine, the production duo consisting of uk house/techno mainstays, neville watson and justin peace division drake. errez, of course, featured on the previous edition of this series and it s clear the leeds-based artist has made an impression on steve o sullivan with her tough stabs and dub flecked groove of * discovery inn* a perfect fit for mosaic. complementing this, the clandestine project looks to be a most promising endeavour for watson and drake on the basis of their two searing contributions with the urgent machine funk flex of * slave to the system* a proper highlight.

ambivalent adapts the raw hardware strategies of his la-4a alias into peak-time analog techno. truncate is on remix duty and delivers one of his power techno productions to top the release off. nice going for this fresh new label!

red laser returns with four tracks from ste spandex. if you ve heard any ste spandex productions you ll know what to expect ! this ep is a fascinating collision of diverse dance music aesthetics & bristles with energy and passion. as usual all the tracks are live takes with various hardware working overtime from ste s orchestration. side 1 features two tracks with long time collaborator sarah bates. soaking wet is a peak time workout with tightly sprung drums, whirling effects & sarah s vocals weaved enticingly throughout the track. next is breakin my heart, an addictive bubbler melding house and boogie feelings with the vocals more centre stage. side 2 kicks off with gotta move, an 80 sesque grinder. pumped bass rubs up against squelched keys and peaky synth riffs, while nice weather closes things down, a short and sweet movement of shuffling drums and swerving synth action.

polish resident lutto lento follows up his debut 12inch for charles drakefords ftd label with this 6 track ep whips for where to now? records. luttos sound places him as quite a unique figure in modern electronic music, showing a fearless work ethic in shrouding his productions in saturated tape loops, and achieving what is certainly a low-fi quality to his sound, lutto manages to never let this lo-fi edge take centre stage, instead this expertly crafted process of tape cutting and looping provides the backdrop to luttos exuberantly crafted yet absolutely dance floor orientated drum work.

deep disco warrior the revenge turns in an epic hypnotic mix of slow burning house nailed down by analogue bass and acid. using a filtered vocal it builds slowly as the bottom end is tweeked towards a mesmeric journey through minimal wigged out disco. sleazy mcqueen and romano arcaini turn in a disco inflected house mix with congas, spaces out synths and enough dynamics to keep any dancefloor bubbling. it builds with added percussion and a filtered pad before the lead hits the break and the track comes back in with even more wallop. drug empire is an original off the album and has had support from the likes of rune lindbaek, crazy p’s hot toddy and horse meat disco. said to be inspired by theo parrish’s productions it’s a delicious slice of bass driven deep disco with a nod to the looser end of detroit and chicago. it’s all about the fully locked in three note analogue moog bass which holds down the grooved out drums before breaking to jazzy rhodes at the end. one for the heads.

a new vinyl record label founded and run by long time birmingham based producer & dj, etym. the label initially serves as an output for self-penned productions focussing on techno in its many guises. st001 - trial 01 is the first release and is a four track ep. taking in a broad ranging musical spectrum, these tracks range from the dubby, sinister edge of 01.1 and heavy 4x4 rhythm of 01.3, right through to the more melodic sounds of the 909 led workout 01.2 and the swelling juno pads of last track 01.4. all tracks created using hardware synths, drum machines and field recordings.

unknot is the duo consisting of producer/dj sciahri and composer/audiohead emanuele porcinai. unknot01 is the first release on the duos self-titled label. the music is derived from recordings of jam sessions taken on a semi-modular set-up and later contextualized, through arrangement, within a dancefloor-oriented framework.
the core of unknots sound is strictly bound both to sciahris solid techno background and to the mutable character of emanuele’s electroacoustic productions. the dialogue between such distant practices and approaches, brought to an extremely restrained setup, is what defines unknots musical identity.

m.ono & luvless join forces for the seventh release on leipzig s much loved rose records the pair runs and curates alongside martin hayes & l.sluter. the duo impressed a few years ago with sought-after joint productions on upmarket labels like o*rs and kolour ltd and now steps up to the plate with a pair of pitch-perfect burners for their own imprint for the label s first 10- release. synth lines set the mood on the a with the delectable double you. crisp drums set the pace, carefully arranged percussive elements, a teasing vocal and a monumental breakdown take care of the rest. on the flipside we have happy chap. a quintessential rose fare with its tight drums, vocal snips and the sort of deadly piano work that is such a staple in m.ono and luvless productions.

finally hydergine joins the knotweed records family! hydergine (aka roberto corizzo) is a techno producer from southern italy. he is best known for producing raw dub techno, and has come up with a string of fantastic releases in the last 3 years on labels such as separate skills and ranges.we have been talking to each other since the early days of knotweed records, trying to find the right tracks for the label. roberto approached us at the beginning of the year with some tracks that were a bit -different- than his usual productions: he was experimenting, and we liked it a lot. that s how the gamma experiments e.p. was born.the a side of the gamma experiments e.p. is a heavy atmospheric techno bomb. both tracks on the b side have more an acid feeling to them, incorporating weird arps, rawness and pad trips.enjoy the ride!

finale sessions founder michael zucker steps into the limelight with his first full ep for the label in the five years it has been running. zucker has of course featured on a handful of split releases from finale but he doesn t waste any of the space afforded here with a quartet of superb and varied productions. leading the way, techno track his spirit bristles with life and percussive energy whilst inner city peace will likely raise some interested eyebrows in west london thanks to its killer broken beat programming. face down, zucker dips into his personal archives for an unreleased and rather crisp remix of introspective and jenifa mayanja hookup when the rain comes down whilst the wonderfully named spiritual graffiti ends the release on a high note

vienna in da house! the latest release from intimate friends invites viennese producer par excellence roman rauch into the fold for the essig jazz ep. straight from the home of the wiener schnitzel, roman is of course known for almost a dozen releases on labels like endless flight, philpot and quintessentials. the austrian is on fine fettle here with three twisted and rolling productions the spoken word delivery from caits meissner on got to be is something of a highlight as is the wonderfully messed up remix of the title track from glenn astro.

markantonio can rightly be described as one of italys true techno titans, working tirelessly as he has since the late nineties to bring the tougher side electronic music into the light. recording for labels such as marco carolas design music, billy nastys tortured records and umeks recycled loops, markantonio has spent the last 16 years on the cutting edge of quality techno but it was with the launch of his analytic trail imprint in 2001 that he perhaps truly came into his own. the label became a hotbed for emerging and established names as markantonios own productions sat alongside releases from the likes of jospeh capriati, davide squillace, rino cerrone, & paco osuna. away from the studio he established himself as a global dj, taking his own unique sound on to the road, across europe and beyond and garnering fans wherever he went.

repress 2015 - following an impressive string of productions on labels like leftroom, murmur, and vitalik, london based, new zealand bred hugo barritt is set to present arguably his most accomplished work to date in the form of the penumbra ep this october. the release will be the second for young uk label construct, which has already worked with the likes of swayzak and the mole, and garnered the support of craig richards, heidi, tensnake, and midland. taking a step back from things over the last 12 months hugo was able to focus genuinely on what he loves: making dance music. and his patience and unadulterated passion shows. >penumbra< is impressive and understated. with a solid a side comprised of barritts driving yet subtle house cuts, and classic remixes from tuff city kids (aka lauer & running back label boss and panorama bars secret weapon, gerd janson) on the flip, the penumbra ep will looks set to be a mainstay of dj sets for many months to come.

bristol based borai kicks off volume 4 with thinking of you, a clean, classic take on house music. strongly recognized for his productions on labels like chicago s tasteful nudes, retrofit and needwant, borai s contribution to volume 4 continues his ode to classic deep house with upbeat drums and straightforward melodies that nod to the new york & new jersey anthems of yore.

for their latest vinyl release, the tink! music label looks to lisbon and the enigmatic duo gatupreto, whose modo di trabadja 12betrays all manner of influences that seep beyond the realm of house music. in their own words, the art gatupreto generates is simple, unpretentious and sincere, it owes to the classic rave vibe as much as to the rawness of hip hop as much to the sunset of cape verde as to the sunrise of the lisbon riverside.this manifests itself in two understandably diverse productions from gatupreto with the heavily percussive workout of vahagn s closing remix of grandi loba of particular note.

benedikt frey heads this latest offering from the batti batti label, teaming up with jonas.san for -girl from venus-, which pair the former s signature raw drums with the latter s outtakes of muted trumpet. complementing this, batti batti s own owen jay & melchior sultana lay down a typically deep atmospheric houser with a few twists and hidden melodies in the shape of title track tribal roots and the 12inch is further embellished by productions from debutant lars behrenroth and mexican duo romeo c & alhan g who have previously been featured on a digital batti batti release.

jj&j return on 12 inch after knocking us sideways with last years double lp. there is true finesse (as ever) in these tempod productions, with fabulous synth layering throughout and some of those ravey details they lace in so well for the more expanded dancers ... up and out there.

the second release on fina white is a four tracker from rising barcelona producer and former rbma attendee clip! diverse releases on discomaths, classicworks, sweat taste and jd records, coupled with his signature hardware only live shows have really put clip! on the map locally and throughout europe. key to his sound is a shifting style and impressive knowledge of sound design, displayed on this brotherhood ep though four pure and unadulterated peak time cuts. there s a real menace to the bassline, low end throb and razor hats of the title track, whilst r36 showcases the fusion of sounds clip! can attain in his productions. on the flip side, forward is, surprise, a no messing, relentlessly percussive banger whilst dissonance s technique heads down an equally straight-up, rough n ready path.

following his stunning apollo debut album *water* in 2013, anton zap aka anton barbashev, the russian electronic pioneer returns to the label for another foray into his highly distinctive, deep and ever evolving productions. without doubt one of the leaders of the burgeoning generation of muscovite electronic producers, *subculture* sees zap building on water s seismic achievements, expanding on his trademark luscious house sound into verdant new areas. once again, as we ve come to expect from an anton zap record, the production is impeccable, with sounds ranging from the blissed-out hip-hop stomp of *free fall* and crunching beats of *one week*, to the slender, mysterious jazzy breakbeat workout *incident* and dubby space-tech of closer *pauspapier*. a vital release from one of electronic musics most original and singular voices.

maybe one of the bigger open air releases this year. slow motion minimal pop house at its best. having started to spin hip-hop records in his hometown frankfurt / main he finally ended up in berlin. his >mirrors< ep on katermukke and >akumal< on laut & luise, where released to wide acclaim and already show his versatility and finesse. his remixes and co-productions for instance with nu and acid pauli does confirm his musical pedigree and make us eagerly await all the marvelous things yet to come from this fledging artist.

introducing a brand new label from berlin-based greek, john dimas. elephant moon is a platform conceived by john to simply collect and release music from his talented group of friends. having built up a strong reputation thanks to his excellent back catalogue of productions on labels such as one records and la vie en rose, he decided that now is the time to dedicate his deep knowledge of house and techno to running a label of his own.

its toby tobias time folks! ahead of his brilliant lp which will be dropping here on dog in september we give you a little reminder of why he’s one of the heroes of the underground uk house scene. toby has been honing his skills as a producer, dj, promoter and all round nice guy for years now and we’re very happy to be offering up fresh new club business from the man himself in the form of the rising ep. never one to go for the obvious, he always puts his neck on the line and pushes his productions in an interesting and often unexpected direction, making full use of his fully analogue studio to get those ‘happy accidents’ into his tracks which gives him the edge over so many others on the scene today.

ogun records returns for it’s second installment done by the incredibely talented alan backdrop. this northern italian has already gained a lot of appreciation amongst techno enthousiasts for his ep’s on enklav/motoguzzi records and his digitally released albums on prologue and ekar show his range of productions even more. with this release on ogun records he sticks to the label’s creed: an ep with a lot of value for dj’s, but still with intricate production techniques and enough warm layered textures/soundscapes to please even the most esoteric minds.

sgr is a series of re-issues of the best of aubreys productions on the three labels he produced from 1991 to 2002: solid groove records / textures records / dark records
in addition of carefully re-masted versions of those classics each ep will feature an unreleased track from this time period. sgr 1 features two tracks from the solid groove 12 – spanky rogers ep aka (aubrey) originally releases in 1997. the a2 track is re-master from the under looked dark techno series: dark 1, originally releases in 2001 and finally b2 is an unreleased track with the self-explaining name *unreleased 1* originally recorded in 1997.

klamauk are all set to reveal their second release of 2015 with this excellent offering from their very own tilman. this 5 track ep takes in a broad ranging musical spectrum from the warm, emotive house of voyager to the eerie acidic groove of outer space. the ep really shows off the prowess of tilmans productions who has been going from strength to strength of late and is a great addition to the klamauk catalogue.

pitched somewhere between the molasses gloop of acid tracks and his more gospel moments, pierre s phantasy club was a vocal project that, without reaching the heights of some of his more momentous wild pitch productions and remixes, still showed his versatility. i ll put the bug in you it ll make you stay, i ll plant it it ll never go away. we believe you, pierre. repressed & remastered for 2015 & featuring all original label artwork, with permission from trax records.

2014 was a definitely a huge year for dance music, with many up and coming artists being thrown into the lifestyle of hectic partying and relentless touring schedules. this also means that those who exploded onto the scene prior are no longer the new kids on the block. a few years is a long time in the life of a dj, and the first few years are often the maddest. the adana twins are a perfect example of one of these artists, having emerged onto the scene in 2012 with releases such as everyday and strange , from the off it was clear that they had everybody s undivided attention. (pulse radio) with dj names like take it easy and friso, it s probably to be presumed that german duo adana twins don t take themselves too seriously. that tongue in cheek attitude could be heard on their first productions and remixes. it s now almost almost three years later and the twins music vision is constantly developing

nice price deal !!! hailing from spain, eduardo de la calle has been a prolific dj and house and techno producer since the early nineties who s productions have recently been featuring heavily in boddikas dj sets. with over 100 vinyl releases under his belt on labels including semantica, cadenza and his own imprints (analog solutions, suprwax, edits records) plus many more, eduardo is an underground legend staying true to his analogue production techniques and never following the pack.

two dubbed techno wonders on a coloured 7 platter. lars fenin, born and raised in hamburg has been around the music scene in berlin since the mid 90ties as reggae guitarist/songwriter/live-act/artist/producer/dj. his first experiments in electronic music started in 1998 with some friends in hamburg, followed two years later by his first ep release called &#8243,,,,,herr pitzelberger dreht auf” for the berlin based label shitkatapult. since then fenin has released several eps and albums for his homies shitkatapult as well as 12&#8243,,,,,, s and remixes for labels like echocord, revolver, eintakt and mitek among others. along the years he could boast collaborations with artists such as deadbeat, mikael stavostrand, d-meteo, k.j. gibbs,horace andy, der dritte raum, eraldo bernocchi and jeff milligan. since 2008 he runs also his own label called dock-records. soundwise, fenins productions range from roots reggae/dub pieces to cordish/melodic techno sets and electronic alike soundscapes. the future is unwritten.

californian modular synthesizer and audio equipment producter tiptop audio is proud to introduce a new project for 2015: tiptop audio records. in the recent years musical productions have seen a remarkable return to the use of hardware through analog synthesizers and digital control interfaces. this trend has proven so strong that it prompted a rebirth of modular synths in a new format (eurorack). tiptop audio has made a name producing sophisticated but easy to use modules, designed to form a complete system that is especially effective for dance-oriented productions and live sets. tiptop audio records selected for its first issue some of the most groundbreaking artists using such systems, to present a range of artists who, through their tracks, explore the landscape of dance music in a very fresh perspective. these are the artists who inspire the tiptop team to make more innovative devices, which in turn make new music (a nice feedback loop).

cristian vogel is a long-term innovator in the composition, mixing and performance of electronic music. spanning over two decades at the vanguard of european electronic music, his work has been acknowledged as an outstanding influence in the fields of composition for stage, club culture and studio. this is the first vinyl release of material from the archive remasters project. the project was successfully crowd-funded in december 2014 which enabled the establishment of edition cristian vogel, an edition handling the restoration and remastering of a large part of cristian vogels hard-to-find and unreleased productions dating back to the early 90s. the 1994 ep features a beefed-up remastering of the classic time originally released on his 1995 album absolute time on tresor. you will also find a rare proto-minimal track from the vinyl only artist in charge of expert systems ep originally released on mosquito records. scorpio and alien conversation are taken from his debut album originally released on mille plateaux in 1994. all tracks were remastered and cut from original dat tapes in february 2015 by manmademastering

the four track ep sees the return of 76-79 (tommy vicari jnr and gunnar viggosson). the ever popular duo behind some of the most wanted underground house and techno tracks. heavy support on productions see plays from the likes of ricardo villalobos and francesco del garda to name but a few. the ep blurs the lines between house, techno, and minimal. mixing elements from their vast production styles and influences. deep, hypnotic grooves all round.

noho records presents hairy edits ep, which gathers a bunch of artists at ease with the tape, already well known for their projects in the brenta studios as muscle records. sagats & madi grein make up the brand new brenta duo, stay tuned! the mysterious funky man caio. steve murphy certainly needs no introduction, his productions with die roh duo and the legendary dj octopus raise the wind in chicago! last but not the least, another tape son, the great sir leon greg (incarnation of perseus traxx)! his works on future flash and warehouse classic won the appreciation of the noho guys.

herva, of delsin, kontra, mos and all city fame, offers another set of forward-thinking dancefloor bombs. across four tracks this young italian demonstrates his unique interpretation of the past and the future again and again. herva is the artist name of herve atsè corti. he was born in 1991, and has been surrounded by music from the beginning thanks to his family. he made a reputation for himself early on at high school as a talented drummer, but, intrigued by electronic music he decided to start making his own beats with a laptop. a few years later bosconi records released his early productions, both as herva both and as life’s track (a side project with dukwa). he is also part of tru west, a collective he founded with mass prod, rufus and raffaele amenta.

boola is no stranger at all to the vinyl club team. he was amongst the very first customers of the former ibiza record shop that gave birth to vinyl club, and even if this is his first release on the imprint he contributed from the beginning to inspire the crew with his early productions that enlightened the golden days of dc10, some of them being released on the then new born arpiar label a bit less than a decade ago. joining the vinyl club agency in 2013, he is since then sharing the dj booth too with the team for endless sessions at cdv / berlin.
