the sheffield powerhouse that is denham audio have had an extremely busy few years crafting superb techno and �130 jungle� rollers. their productions have been turning a lot of heads, landing releases on circular jaw, tessier-ashpool, grndwrk, tumble audio, heretic and addison groove�s new groove imprint in the short space of time since they debuted songs online in mid-2015. they show no sign of their workrate slowing this year with the boys presenting their �leighton buzzin�� ep on artifice this month.

an mini lp of works by denis mpunga and paul k. combining elements of traditional african music with experimental electronics, the belgian/congolese duo released only a handful of tracks, scattered across a few rare lp and cassette compilations that were put out in the mid eighties by obscure european labels . this release also includes a few previously unreleased songs that were found on the original master tapes. 180gram pressing. big tip!

bartellow has long been associated with the esp institute though tambien, a trio formed alongside bavarian cohorts marvin and valentino, who have released seminal dancefloor material over recent years. with his debut album panokorama, we are invited into a completely different world of bartellow s creation a place where influences become a melting pot of mood, nuance and texture, and where instrumentation is abstracted from a variety of cultures, including those that exist solely within his imagination. bartellow has found a way to merge primitivism with retrofuturism, identifying their point of intersection and reveling in their union across ten songs. while his academic background as a jazz musician certainly informs both his progressive approach to composition and non-linear production, it is his obsession with electronics and synthesis that shape his current musical climate. the title panokorama stems from bartellows visualization of the album, a surreal landscape with a foreign presence centrally embedded, a panorama punctuated by a ko, although a hybrid word that reads as nonsense, it somehow feels and sounds just right.

next up on aficionado, is something a little bit different�bendith are a collaborative welsh four piece, comprising of carwyn ellis from colorama (who recorded hapus for �nado back in 2012) and elan, marged and gwilym rhys from plu. following the folk-pop vein of bendith�s album released in october 2016, the ep includes 3 brand new tracks and two tracks - �dinas� and �mis mehifin� from the self-titled album.two of the new songs include welsh language adaptations of old classics, �can am gariad� is a version of the lesley duncan tune, �love song�, specially requested by aficionado recordings� moonboots, who obsessively collects versions of this song. �hwiangerdd takeda� is a version of the traditional japanese song, �takeda lullaby� and is inspired by the 1969 rendition by akai tori, the vocal folk group from japan. bookending the ep is �dan glo�, a lovely and mystical music-box demo instrumental. all tracks retain the stunning vocal harmonies and instrumental arrangements which have marked out bendith as a unique and very special musical prospect.

sixth ep on firescope records the new sub label of the legendary b12 records. this release is by b12 ft yonii, uk techno fused with wonderful pure and beautiful vocals. b12 established early 90�s with a multitude of releases appearing on warp records uk, b12 records, soma records, delsin records, firescope records, art , buzz, de:tuned. the ep entitled in vain is the first ep featuring b12 and the wonderful singer songwriter yonii. these are real songs, with real meanings and are the the result of a pure and wonderful collaboration. the tracks tell a story, and with open ears and heart they will deliver the message clearly. �sympathy� a very acoustic sounding drum and percussion arrangement held together with glorious b12 esq pads is the opener here. the vocals elevate this track to another level, with a dangerous equilibrium of vulnerability and distain. �shotgun� straight in with a heavy synth baseline and lyrics. a menacing track featuring a vocal that floats effortlessly on a downtempo b12 vibe. an exposed interplay of rhythmic melodies and dark imagery. �moth� a busy beat and synth driven backdrop provide the platform for yonii to tell her story of love and pain. is it all in vain? why must we gravitate towards the flame that ultimately extinguishes us�. �sympathy (beatz)� & �moth (beatz)� just the beatz of the main tracks :-) finished in glorious white and green splatter vinyl with exclusive full colour artwork by the wonderful catherine prendergast aka cellar doo

22.02.85 is the new album from bastien keb. initially conceived as a concept album about a stripper lost in the city (like a straight-to-video follow up to showgirls), 22.02.85 has a distinctly nocturnal edge to it. the city at night, lost in a crowd, abandoned petrol stations, empty kebab shops, broken florescent lights. like a half-forgotten dream, familiar yet unnerving. he says all the songs are all about girls apart from two about a big lug. you may catch a phrase here and there but the context is all in the feel: there s a melancholy edge, but i don t wanna depress people. sad but hopeful? if that s possible.

a bona-fide nigerian prince and probably the only musician to have ever played with fela kuti, miles davis and bob marley, eji oyewole combined african highlife with western jazz to create a hybrid so that was as smooth as it was funky. his first album, charity begins at home was an angry tirade against corruption in nigeria. me & you is his �relationship� album, a brighter and happier set of songs that sees eji all loved up, presumably with the mysterious �cameleon� featured on the cover. eji�s flute is no longer a strident voice raised in anger. instead, on �me & you� and �i�m a dancer� it is a playful line of seduction. on the wonky and woozy �eniafelamo� his sax is a post-coital salutation. even the one political track, �long live nigeria�, is a loved up call for peace, progress and trust. chilled, assured and dexterious, me & you is a sophisticated showcase of eji oyewole�s chops. �this is the beginning of an atomic musical evolution,� he declares on the cover. �brothers and sisters, stay cool.�
