taiki and nulight or to their friends rowan harrington and erka chinbayer have both been djing/producing for many years both in very different circles. taikis career started back in 2008 under his old alias name site 1 who was a house/electro producer. they joined forces and started working together in 2011 which now seems like a lifetime ago considering on what they have achieved in such a short time. when they first started out working together they were making a lot of dubstep, house and electro influenced bass music as we call it now. being heavily into garage, house and electronic dance music there sound heavily progressed across the spectrum of dance music. taiki and nulight released their first ep in february 2012 on subway recordings which gained a lot of support from the likes of mistajam, crookers, herve zinc, redlight, foamo, roska, benga, skream, adam f, hatcha, n type and more. gaining them a lot of frequent airtime on bbc radio 1, 1xtra, kiss 100 and rinse fm. now nearly a year and a half since they have joined forces, they have received massive support from some of the most respected djs out there not to mention air time nearly every week on radio 1 and kiss 100. with their next release on the horizon and due to drop december time 2012 on bengas very well respected label benga beats there is so much more that you will see from these boys and so much new material to hear.

dean meredith is a veteran of dance music. he was not only one of the founders of chicken lips and thus a cosmic-disco godfather, but he was also one-half of bizarre inc., responsible for many rave anthems and more. as the rhyhtm odyssey in 2012, he is back on the hottest labels like rekids and golf channel. a real pro!

dope me / does caroline know? is a slightly clubbier affair-less sun ra and more soul capsule-but still possesses the air of strangeness that makes the duo so unique. each artist leaves his mark within the first few measure of dope me. the steady high-hats and flawless kick drum are straight out of dazes playbook, while the nervous piano and 3 chairs-style claps are unmistakably bruno. as for the slurred vocal pleading >dope me..dope me<, thats anyones guess. the track carries on for a solid nine minutes as half-melodies and quasi-hooks slide in and out of the mix. the b-side, does caroline know?, takes us deeper and darker. the drums are plodding, the mood is ominous, and a series of dreamlike flourishes add to an already eerie groove. like the a-side, its a surrealistic style of house that only these two could deliver. the artwork, as usual, is done by daze maxim.

luv005 already and no doubt another classy four tracker that will top a few sales charts in the coming weeks and months. it has been a wonderful summer for the luv shack crew with every release bettering the last. the response and reaction to the new label has been astounding and beyond a pleasant surprise. with intelligent dance music such as this, it really shouldnt be such a surprise, but in a world of mass mediocre music, it does happen more often than not, that the good stuff doesnt always find its way. the guys though have found a place in a lot of hearts and quite a few tasty dj sets and record boxes with four very consistent releases. so, here we go with what is yet another worthy addition to any half decent djs repertoire me thinks. and it is lee stevens who teams up with local friends to deliver a very crafted set of aural niceness for your distinguished pleasure.

romes egisto sopor has been making little waves with his releases for quite a while now. since we have known him he has released a cdr album on legowelts strange life records and put a cassette out on the much admired 100% silk label, both under the name polysick. as theawayteam he has released a dvd >relax & sleep< and a cd >star kinship< on japanese label moamoo. he is also one half of the low key video unit aavv, whose work has graced many of the important releases of new lofi electronic movement.
well, here is his first album proper >digital native<, 15 tracks of glowing, nocturnal, analogue grace that hark back to acid house and early techno, but with a mood and intent that seems to be designed for watching images dance on closed eyelids. it is no surprise that his work as a video artist resonates so strongly with the music he makes.

nice price deal !!! being in the same gene pool as pat sharpes hair is enough of a stigma to steer any young djs career off course - deep in the discos of pop trash. fortunately for metaphi / metske, although still benefitting from the same glossy 90s locks as the radio-jock/distant uncle, musical inspiration came from more complex climates. wigflex006 acts as a fine electronic switchboard to metaphis archive of talents, a complicated circuit board of the experimental ranging from hip hop, idm, and garage to blues harmonicas and classical rifts, seamlessly melted into one gloop of green circuitry where each musical discipline must co-exist with another. as metske the bpms hover around 95, the framework is hip-hop, the sound often skwee but the influences thereafter are endless, slow train blues clicks its way through a steam train intro before marring the lines between electronic music and the blues with a self-composed harmonica rift worthy of howlin wolf. at the same tempo spin states delves into the cosmic with pipey neon chords and bit-crunched bass: sega mega drive boss level business. metaphis taste for big room techno is blatant and genetically wigflex over sharpflex, and in terms of nationality its mongrel, half notts, half eastern europe. with concious mentis hes keeping things minimal but charged from lower frequencies and messmode progresses with some serious dancefloor swagger.

dana ruh has not hestitated to explore musical possibilities in her studio with her machines to continue her solo work. while evolving new sounds and tracks, she hit some spectacular signings with ben watts buzzin fly and put a track on a various artists on crosstown rebels. as well there will be her own new releases on aras and brouqade. make sure to expect some musical gemstones in the second half of 2011 to be released .... coz diamonds are that girls best friends.

never not working, elef well deserved has become one of the closest watched talents in the deep house scene. born half greek / half supermodel the berlin based producer has dropped some remarkable releases on dirt crew, murmur and hypercolour. in an act of reciprocal affection elef and carry on joined forces to create the lovely nuff said ep, soon to be available on limited coloured vinyl. the ep kicks off with black hole featuring elefs signature melodramatic chord structure, some quirky percussion and a captivating motown vocal sample. the incredible gerd remix will end up in a lot of record cases, a dancefloor no brainer! on the flip nuff said incorporates an old school bassline with those beautiful emotional chords again. the ambitious uk trio zoo look strips it all back to what deep house really is nowadays, a groovy squarebass and atmospheric pads.

this third outing expands further the mosso musical range, presenting alejandro mosso in some of his most rhythmic and yet, dreamiest atmospheres. unlike mosso002, which got the producer to hunt in his forgotten documents, both airs present on this record have been impetuously developed over the last few months. on the a-side, pleamar is a driving number which boots with a hypnotic metallophone pattern, slowly giving way into a electro (rga)nic piano fest, which in turn twists itself into bent, crushed and perverted synth whistles. this a-side has been designed keeping the lower half of the body in mind, offering full waves of joy and jubilation! now that you are grounded enough, how about flipping that record and meeting us on bajamar - low tide, litterally. on the shores of this b-side is where a wonderful landscape of shimmering spray and glistening stars await you. here again alejandros ability to bring together biotic and mechanic in a homogeneous unity is best revealed. in a magical tour de force, bajamar sends tingles from the base of your heels, up and all along your spine, into your crown, triggering instant wonder, reveries and realisations.

jmx makes his second appearance for us after his remix on the atapy ep last year. also known as one half of belfast duo jet project, jmxs solo project takes influence from everything from old mood ii swing records to modern day bass music creating a raw sound that is completely his own.
we have got a few remixes on this one: first up is krl, on loan from the excellent wolf music, with a deeper take of >on u<. moscows s.k.a.m. turns in a remix ahead of his debut ep for us in july (more on that soon).

on le rire ep jared wilson (7777 - skudge / detroit) leads the way with a pest chicago-house inspired rework, devilishly and deliciously analog without whittling down to a mere old-school homage, a sort of us-acid-dubstep version of addison groove, with a taste of slacker jak-beat for the nirvana generation! a melodic decomposer, scottish dam mantle (warp - ghostly international / glasgow) deceitfully feigns to mellow with what could at first glance seem like an edit. however deep excavations into the intense choir of >voyage vers l harmonie< leads to a surreal confrontation between a slum village like beat and a post-industrial version of melody nelson. thundery atmospheres, slippery slopes… the best way to pay tribute to luc marianni. famous for his duo as well as his label syncom data, nukubus (bunker / rotterdam) is nonetheless an inspired soloist, as this breathtaking remix once again proves. the 11 minutes long krautrock tunnel leaves many envious of its authenticity and sheer technical virtuosity. this swirling reinterpretation of mariannis work manages to leave the original behind and come into its own. its out of respect for the original work that nukubus requested to be credited only as a remixer. if youve bothered to read the few lines above, please remember it is both easier and wiser to form your own opinion with the vinyl in your own two hands. please note that the distribution of these eps will be accompanied by some very limited original editions of luc mariannis vinyls
