the newly crowned number one dj in the world lets loose his second longplayer on the number one label in the world (resident advisor 2011). prepare to delve deep as jamie jones brings us >tracks from the crypt< on crosstown rebels
next up on good ratio music is baldo, an artist who spent the past few months working in the back of this label getting prepared to release the third chapter in his own imprint. spies & lies is the name of his work which follows some brilliant remixes and tracks he did lately in labels like stranjjur and elevation recordings. as the story goes on after the great result of the tom ellis release, we wanted to give a different dimension to the label to bring it back into a more classical sound.
praterei might not be the most prolific of labels, but the quality is always way above the quantity. the fourth release on the viennese imprint comes from local boys done good the new tower generation, with a heady two track offering that fits right in with the labels ethos of focusing on the essence of house. the amusing titled >horny goat weed< is a perm twisting delight, with the grainy string sample remoulded to align with the loose jacking rhythms and rave indebted keys. >trembolon< finds the new tower generation in an altogether mellower mood, building with poise from its sonorous beginnings to a glorious mid point crescendo of rising synth lines.
the hotly tipped out-er label returns with a superb new single from andrea santoro aka santorini, featuring 4 tracks of deep techno and broken beat electronica, italys out-er label has made quite an impact in its first year, dropping stellar singles from the likes of analogue cops, luciano esse as well as two standout various artists eps. the label has received support from djs as diverse as craig richards, ben sims, tazz, m50 & 2562 and has received critical acclaim from the likes of dj mag, resident advisor, de:bug & raveline. out-ers musical outlook has been extremely open with an emphasis on quality techno and post dubstep electronica and its in that vein that andrea santoro takes up the mantle for his latest single the smooth ep.
big with:ernesto ferreyra, the mole, akufen, vincent lemeuix.. inspired by classic disco and electro, dkmd have already produced several dance music tracks, using old and new technology in order to come up with a unique sound which pays homage to their predecessors without sounding pastiche. echoes of giorgio moroder and donna summer can be felt throughout on the other side, while the playful and sensual taxi cab recounts the familiar story of an early morning phone call received by a girl in a cab, on her way home from a pleasurable night out. perhaps it is their experience playing together as improvisers that adds a special touch to their dance music,as they have grown accustomed to perform almost every element in their tracks using hardware intruments and effect boxes.in addition to their disco project, the two have a considerable track record as experimentalists and the dark, cosmic and mysterious androide is a good example of some of their output in the genre.even though dkmd are only at the beginning of their dancefloor adventures, they show no signs of stopping, and when asked what comes next, they will likely answer
jay west from argentina has been releasing quality deep house (the real sort that is) for the past decade, last years smile ep on bebr got some serious playlist and chart action from everybody who knows their shit, and were please to welcome him to the moodmusic family. the ep starts with blame the music, the sort of feel-good house music we used to get loads of in the early to mid 90s from the big apple. swinging beats, almost disco bass and a sunshine filled vocal are the ingredients for a tune, and jay has delivered one. this will probably not be belted by the kids house community, but real heads knows what to do with this weapon. down continues the journey with victor simonelli style keys and a bouncy bassline, making place for the low-slung in & out tune which have some serious west coast mushroom influences. we love it! to end the ep the catchy little mean machine finally brings the smile to your face.
fresh out of melbournes reputed house scene, the tortoise is one of the hottest talents to emerge from the current wave of house breaking down under. a side the puffing tortoise captures the 21-year-olds precocious talent and aims it squarely at the peak time. working his trademark airy vocals around a familiar disco refrain and bubbling bass, he works the track into a sweaty climax and skilfully keeps it there throughout the midsection. turning in a late night chugger on their remix, berlin based canadians the mole and hreno ride an insistent pulse and insect like percussion. twisting the samples, they guide the track into a dark jungle of chattering sounds to temper the tortoise youthful exuberance. the analogue melancholy of keep on keepin on is all in the sweeping synths and twinkling effects. recoiling the tension, the chicago influenced track seeps through the speakers and will sound as good at home as it will during specially chosen dancefloor moments. rondenion approaches the title track with fearless disregard for the original, combining the swelling tortoise sound with something entirely his own. his addition of a funk fuelled midsection, really breaks the track down and adds another slice of character to an ep already brimming with it.
36 hours in. the lights are flickering and the sweat is pouring out of you like the thoughts that you re trying to write down, to get down the words, to put down the message, to translate all the ideas that keep appearing in your head. ideas like uninvited guests that keep showing up and refusing to leave. somewhere though, there s a truth in there. you know it because you saw it. you know it because you felt it. because when you knew that even though there were ten million reasons why you should go to bed now, why you should go to bed straight away. that you should put these silly things down and stop trying to create and just get some sleep already. that you should stop trying to wrestle the ideas in your subconscious down to the ground so you can actually capture and express them to others. but you persist.
this release represent in a sense the spirit of what we are. we started to think about it around 3 years ago, and is good to say that everything is gone positive. all the artists involved are connect from the same empathy and love, and things happened in the most natural way. collecting all the infos about mrs. endresen and mr. wesseltoft and looking at ninca and bruno biography, and of course with andrea and hubble always is our minds, we can affirm one more time the power of this intense feeling that keep us close to each other.
newcomer italian label traxx underground calls on the service of kool vibe, a veteran record collector & clubber from paris who, after a well-received debut release on my love is underground, is back to offer four tracks produced with the steady hand of someone who knows his way around a house tune. as announced in the title of this ep record, mr. vibe continues to spread the vibe, this 90s house vibe made of tough drums, bumpin basslines, warm chords and chopped vocals. kool vibe has clearly been nurtured by all that was good about deep and garage house coming from new york and new jersey back in the 90s and he proves it again with this second release
copenhagens infamous producer, songwriter & dj wizz-kid just released his new album, entitled fool. in 2010 - while having already gained notoriety as a dj and producer - his album debut standing on top of utopia, confi rmed his presence on an even grander level. radio friendly, intelligent and feel-good electronic pop never sounded so fresh.now with fool kasper continues his wild and ecstatic journey into the future of music

nice price deal !!! no mortal lips are worthy of this kiss is perhaps not your typical song lyric, especially not when you think of the current crop of electronic pop stars. usually love, or anything remotely carnal, takes place in a club or on the floor or in the near vicinity of a dj booth.

check the guns are back with the second to last instalment in their tape edit series. it is onwards and upwards for 004 where side one sees a deconstructed work out of the fatback bands >the girl is so fine<. track 2 >house down< is a no holds barred party tune for the discerning dance floor that will do all the work for you. on the flip >sugar samba< is a rework of the london records classic from julia and co. finishing off we have an edit of heatwaves >super soul sister< which is a gem of a vocal funk track that gives as good as it gets and leaves you wanting more.
many prominent figures throughout history have proclaimed that you can get by with a little help from your friends now whilst this is a lovely romantic notion and does, we suppose have some (albeit very small) grounding in reality you need a bit more if you want to progress through life as opposed to simply jog in. zoo look are a good example of this, whilst sam, alex and craig have been friends for quite some time, forging their completely plutonic relationship through djing together, their latest release, number 11 on join the dots is forged from more than simply the burning fires of friendship, its born out of a love of all things deep as well as house music based. they may be mates but you can also get along very well if you have bags of talent too.
a good feeling starts if the first drumsounds of >feel so good< find your way from the boxes in the space. the head own style drawers belonging open in the half dozen and argue about the most correspondent blueprint. house? in any case. disco? unfailable to hear influence. electro? also not to dismiss this. dub? the father of the whole atmosphere. cosmic? also this is a part of the authoritative ingredients in the here available circle of the sounds. and the dance floor suction strengthening cow bells are anyway a tight of a track element of all last music generations! quintessence is, here two artists have poured your wide motley collection in influence in the form of a single track, have condensed and with it have interlocked at least 40 years of dancefloor history in fresh kind with each other.
part one of session victims haunted house of house sampler is already going down an absolute storm with the likes of dop, james teej, catz n dogz and tornado wallace declaring it >superb<, >inspiring<, >fantastic<, and bloody ripping, respectively. nows the time for part two containing four more cuts of the good stuff and by now you know what we are talking about here, deep, sample-heavy, rough around the edges but smooth in all the right places. basically good oldfashioned instrumental moods and grooves which will appeal equally to those old enough to remember the golden era of pork recordings as it will to the hip young vinyl heads with a nose for anything disco. enjoy, support and keep them peeled for the final installment part three coming very soon
whilst some people claim that the number seven is lucky, some people, like duff, dont believe in luck, or if there is such a thing as luck you make your own. you cant rely on anyone else to hold your hand you know, you gotsta forge your own path, they arent called the mean streets for nothing. duff is the sort of man who not only makes his own luck (cos who else is gonna look after you?) but he keeps an eye on his bredren too. those in the neighbourhood feel safe because all is good in duffs hood, always has been, always will be, the police dont even come there, because they don’t have to, that block is on lock-down brother. though he isnt some type of machismo, over-the-top (hat back go-on sly) caricature, its just the way it is, nuthin to argue about. he has a way about him, the glare of a pitbull and the smile of don juan, dusty is his girl yep thats her real name, the name her mamma gave her on the day she was introduced to this world. the girl is fine thats for sure but what else would you expect from the honey that rides shotgun with the sonic casanova. she might call herself lucky. duff would disagree.
his music is like a waterfall on house – organic, constantly running, sparkling and fresh.it could be the background tune for magazine beauties in st. tropez,it feels like a drive through californian valleys,or it may as well be the soundtrack tune for a full moon party on the greek islands - yes, it might indeed just be the result of many a club year. just as well, however, we can look at it as some sort of a flip side to those busy and dark times of dull and hard work back in the days, something to simply relax andm make you smile, after a hard days work, with a cigarette in one hand and a smooth drink in the other… imagine a piece of roxy music, a dancefloor in northern italy - some time in the late 80s - and joe smooths promised land.see what i mean?you picture this?well,in that case you have a pretty good idea of robertos serenades style.the original version of tell me feat.kholi is taken from the upcoming album dawn.
we are extremely happy to kick off 2012 with the second release of good ratio music. after capturing the hearts of audiences worldwide with “money ep” from chasing kurt, it is time to warm up your senses with this emotional “one by one” by our friend tom ellis. a great 2012 starting for this new label runned by carlo and baldo. four evocative songs are composing by this ep which feels pretty organic and sensitive at the same time. you might be ready to embark in such an affecting voyage built upon those ever imperfect harmonies and natural rythm. without any apparent fear we can catalogue this ep in the mood of an experiment close to deep house. definitely it is coming from hundred of harmonic sounds and light melodies, everything mixed up with great sax samples and voices to go further than a dancefloor moving. in this way we need to say big thanks to michiel renger & sammy maine for their contributions in the sax and voice respectively. basically it will be a pleasure to make you feel captured over the clouds after the listening
joey negro is the most well-known pseudonym of master british dj/producer/remixer dave lee. under a plethora of other monikers including jakatta, akabu, doug willis, raven maize, the sunburst band, sessomatto, and z factor, dave was one of the first artists to incorporate disco samples in house music when he began his production career in 1988. indeed, he was in the studio making credible and outstanding british house music when many luminaries around him were still busy getting to grips with their decks. in 2011 little has changed and dave is widely regarded as one of the most commercially successful and in-demand artists on the global scene
we have some very good news for the fans of oasis / escapements / distant shores etc, petar dundov is about to release a new album on music man. >ideas from the pond< is set for release end of march, but we have something to feed your hunger in the meantime: a new ep called >stairway / the arch<. >stairway< and >the arch< are again two tracks that in one way breathe petars signature sound, but on the other hand dont sound like anything you have heard before. go petar!
comes on heavyweight 180 gr vinyl.
second single cut from the collaboration album of minilogue & koss aka kuniyuki. a side, original version is cinematic ambient jazz which reminds the sound of ecm. earth tone mix is club friendly dance edit, the sound is like a mixture of mathew jonson and ame. b side, original version of horizon is epic 60min psychedelic techno. this edit version is like a dj tool. its for fans of ricardo villalobos ... and this release is last release on mule electronic. we cant feel good at all to separate the release of techno & house.
no.19 music looks towards the first release of 2012, teaming up with hotly tipped mexican dj/producer louie fresco for the first single from his debut album, complete with a superb russ yallop remix!

the third release on the exquisite pain vinyl is a various artists sampler in which we are exploring a few genres of house music .3 tracks on the menu with >cosmic luck< by duff disco (join the dots) . duff disco delivers a pure masterpiece smartly blending between deep house & nu disco . then we have eddie c (endless flight) taking care of remixing good guy mikesh & filburts >gold snake< which is a pure piece of music . eddie is upping the tempo turning the track into a true dancefloor weapon . finally we have sasse (moodmusic) & james flavour (dirt crew) remixing alain ho & alex arnouts >your love< , a real belter for every single deep house lovers

chicagos richard pegue was one of the most intriguing figures to come out of the chicago soul scene in the 1960s and 1970s. raised during the citys fertile doo-wop era, pegue immersed himself in music immediately. he cut his chops as a mobile dj, record store clerk and recording artist before stepping into the booth as one of chicagos most enduring radio personalities to grace the citys airwaves. the nickel and penny labels featured in this compilation are twin sides of the same eccentric coin, pegue himself.
surely with forward-looking ambitions, serbian fellow dejan milicevic drops his debut album trust and the purpose with style, non-compromisingly showing us how electronic music has no limits, only heart and soul is needed. he throws a good example how to gather different genres and styles into one great peace of art, one that certainly cant resist giving in without touching our heart.
