title track joyride kicks things off with a straight up 909 beat, complete with scifi sweeps and classic wood block percussion, quickly working its way into an very subtle groove with every element working effectively to keep it fully funk laden. sideways completes the a side of the release and gets going right from the beginning. pumping percussion takes hold and hits the ground running before a perfectly weighted synth hook lashes over the top with henning playing with the synths lfo to creative effect. dust takes things down a notch as swirling pads drape themselves over a serious 909 beat. henning lets this one loop out, letting the subtle variations in the synths do the work as the 909 holds the beat solid and reminiscent of early berlin/detroit dub techno crossovers. mars attacks closes of the ep and does so in particularly fine fashion. a more broken beat affair this time from henning and he really works his machines into a sonic warfare of bass tones and tweaked out synths that sear through the crashing percussion workout.

the swedish label dirty hands strikes back with double force. this motor driven techno 12 is hard to hide from. labelboss per hammar says when patrick gave me this track, i played it in every set for the 3 months. when he later told me that he hasnt found a home for it, we said in choir ‘lets do a dirty hands release out of it!. and after that moment, all my previous plans for the label was deleted. with patricks ruthless original combined with per hammars jungle sounding edit on the flip, this release isnt anything but a key into the producer duos minds.

fantastic remastered reissue of a masterpiece of the golden era of nyc deep house, the incredible love is a mystery ep by tropical moon (aka legendary producers nelson paradise roman & blue jean), their one and only release under that moniker. originally released back in 1990 every track here is a killer - the a side features the underground smash love is a mystery with its beautiful emotive pianos, classic lush strings and gorgeous vocal followed by the relentless drum groove of its alright. on the flip we get another club classic, the tribal bouncer jungle house as well as the darker after-party vibe of data bank with its phat b-line, deep chords and superb sleazy vocal. pure class!

inner shift music presents jacksonville aka chris lyth who was featured on their collective continents ep with the city sleeps. jacksonville has had releases on several labels including atmospheric existence, thug records, and on his own rather excellent imprint doppler records.

the 7th release on bond is the second release in petter bs series called *roots*. the label bond is the brainchild of swedish techno dj and producer petter b. the concept of the label is music by djs for djs. the label focuses on releasing tracks that enable the dj, rather than the producer, to be creative. it is based on that special bond which is created every time a dj combines tracks, loops and sounds live into something new and unique.

ot one for elaborate biographies or fancy press packs, twentysomething year old italian producer thomas a.s. simply prefers to let his music speak for him. and when you are constantly releasing tracks like the ones that make up his upcoming north lake ep, a string of fancy words are the last thing you need.

the detroit music community has outposts in nearly every major city, and vancouver, british columbia is no exception. this ep represents the connection of two such artists, detroit native, josh garrett, who currently resides in vancouver and runs the subspec label, and rennie foster, a stalwart of the underground, who has spent a quarter of his life in tokyo, but born in bc and now living back there, in vancouver. rennie has released on a myriad of detroit labels, such as transmat, teknotika, soiree, subject detroit, wallshaker, and motech. josh and rennie met in vancouver, only since rennies recent return, and realizing they were of the same tribe, immediately began to collaborate on a number of projects, now including this limited run, double a-side, record, chalk full of dj friendly techno trax, firmly rooted in the motor city sound, yet unique enough to be a contributor, not just another imitator.

mit seiner band junip veröffentlichte er zwei großartige werke, arbeitete am soundtrack zu the secret life of walter mitty mit und steuerte gerade erst seine version von how we walk on the moon zu master mix: red hot + arthur russell bei. vestiges & claws wurde fast komplett von josé gonzález in eigenregie aufgenommen und produziert. zuhause in göteborg nutze er eigentlich nur computer plug-ins, um die songs aufzunehmen und dadurch einen warmen, analogen sound zu erzeugen. musikalisch führt das album das fort, was die beiden vorgänger schon angefangen haben: gedämpft und feinfühlig wirken die lieder, die die wunderbare stimme gonzález und sein verschachteltes gitarrenspiel in den vordergrund setzen ohne dabei besonders laut oder bombastisch sein zu müssen.

kirlian camera are one of the pioneers of the italian electronic scene. active since 1979 under the name suicide commando, the band changed name in 1980 releasing the first demo-tape dawn and the self-titled mini-album in late 1981. the early records contain a mix of synth pop and new wave/dance songs, while towards the end of the 1980s kirlian cameras music became darker, turning into electro-gothic sound. nearly every release since then has explored different fields, from industrial to ambient and trip-hop.
