purism welcomes romanian minimal house upstart mihai popescu to the table, following the promising producer s run of hotly tipped singles on his own soulsity label. the groove is crisp and infectious on opening cut -do watcha feeel,- which makes great use of a looped up melodic phrase and choice vocal snippets for a quintessential house throwdown. -mixed moods- is no less floor-ready, but its delicate, shimmering keys add a seductive quality that s impossible to resist. -midnight insp- takes a heads-down, tracky approach on its run in, but by the latter half opens up to reveal a gorgeous, swirling bath of chords. -aritmethixx- provides contrast for the ep s closer, keeping the beat stripped back and using haunting flecks of sonic decoration that wouldn t sound out of place on a horror inc track

autarkic describe himself as first and foremost a songwriter but he has also made a name for himself as an international dj. over the past three years the musician based in tel aviv has, with great success, played clubs throughout all of europe. one extra memorable gig was on last year’s edition of convenanza in the amphitheatre in sete, france. rumour has it that the sea living mammals of the area flocked in large groups in the waters below during autarkic’s gig. this 12” picture vinyl is his first release on hoga nord rekords and the slightly psychedelic, sample- and synthesiser based club music that has become autarkic’s trademark sound is captured by an impeccable production. the music is playful, yet stripped down to the essentials and not overloaded. the vocal elements works more as percussive elements than the carrier of the storytelling in the music. if you missed him live or just don’t have the means to go see him, this record give a taste of autarkic’s hypnotic live performances!

yama music return with their second instalment on their own self-titled label, with yet more trippy minimal house music. as with the first record, yama music 002 brings 3 original cuts which are stripped back groove aimed at the dancefloor. the uk based label kick things off with “outstore”, eerie pads sit on top of tight stripped back drums which have a glitchy atmospheric synth adding to the cosmic feel of this record. the b side are two tracks that follow a similar pattern but retain their individuality. the first of these is “who what space”, this track is propelled along with a bone shaking yet infectious bassline, crisp percussion and an otherworldly synth. “who what toms” wraps up the ep with delicate shuffling percussion, a tight kick drum and a sexy bassline ready to make the dancefloor hum. a well placed vocal and a synth that sounds like it’s taken from the starship enterprise rounds off a great return for yama music.

“behavior” is a group of processes designed from perception, stimulations created to empathize indifferently with each one according to the moment and the enviroment, mental techno that concieves very different realitys in the animic state of the reciever. kalter ende is the artist behind this new reference for subsist records, the manchegan producer is in a great moment and creates a very soundful detailed reference in wich the percussive elements accoompanies all a set of armonic molecules.

despite the short period as producer of kolpos, the first steps of this argentinan producer have became large strides and his experience to develop big magnitude projects consolidates with great celerity, argument more than justified for platforms as concerns music which bet for artist with a very defined personality. fractal recreates the international connection that techno is living in these moments between europe and latin american countries with a more globalized style , it represents the synergestic link between two cultures and a relative approach of hemispheres.

berlin based techno titan frank muller adopts his beroshima alias for a new four track ep that is already been hailed by the likes of marcel dettman and laurent garnier. first emerging in the nineties, muller has since become a techno great who has played from asia to south america and beyond. he’s had plenty of underground hits on the likes of cocoon and soma, and held some key residencies over the years. always one to command your attention with his multi layered grooves, this ep features an old juan atkins sample “buy some shit from detroit” that has been part of beroshima’s live sets for years. excellent opener ‘encounter’ reflects a recent idea jeff mills and muller had to produce tracks together for a not yet produced sci-fi movie. it is an eight-minute astral techno trip with smooth, driving drums and plenty of intergalactic synth lines. ‘the passion of lovers’ transfers the organic beroshima style into 2018 and shows off frank’s passion for spaced out electronica. it’s a brilliantly bumping cut with lithe synths and melodies adding that soul and colour as it races through the galaxies. the iconic ‘buy some’ with the atkins sample then surges into the future with icy hi hats dancing over rubbery drums. the warped synths take the lead and bring a real sense of off kilter energy to this most timeless bit of techno. last of all is the fantastic space mix of ‘encounter’ which is dreamy and cinematic with exquisite keys and pads colouring in a huge night sky as the drums drive things along. this is an archetypal techno ep filled with cosmic colours and serene emotions.

here it is, the first in a new mini-series from icelandic label borg ltd - homegrown ep vol. 1 marks the label s maiden voyage onto showcasing the local icelandic talent with a three-track release featuring ilo, intr0beatz and felix leifur. the a side is completely owned up by ilo s seventeen minute house-disco journey only someone real complete with a 90 s tinged rave sequence at the tail end. on the b side intr0beatz supplies fu banco, a heady slowed down house groover that keeps his signature sound and atmosphere intact. felix leifur follows with transit, shaping together in his genre bending way the dusty chords, heavily effected samples, tape hiss and other involuntary recording equipment noises into a beautiful coherency fit for both home & club duty. a great first in borg ltd s homegrown series!

for our second release of 2018 ears have eyes are back with the third instalment of our throng of orbs compilation series. this time around we welcome back old friends, and bring in some new names to the ehe fold, with a collection of tracks spanning deep emotive house music, broken beats and acid dancefloor pressure. first up we have contours, who burst onto the scene in 2015 with an excellent release on the mighty rhythm section, and has put out a slew of great records since then. dither takes time to unfold, but when the fluid acid line emerges from the heady percussion he really sets up the track for dancefloor perfection. for the a2 we welcome back chocky to the label, and he serves up a slice of weighty house music that drips quality and emotion. pickle dat kicks off with an absolute beauty of a groove, understated but weighty, and from there chocky goes on to sprinkle just the right amount of seasoning, with soulful rhodes licks and a wonderful bass line. off the back of their excellent 12- on love on the rocks, elles x violet kick off the b side with yrnyb, a tried and tested dancefloor destroyer. when we heard elles playing this in a dark basement in peckham, we just had to sign it. sometimes a kick drum, an acid line and a half heard vocal is all you need. finishing off the release we have dublin artist replete serving up a lovely slice of hazy, percussive house music that slowly builds to a crescendo. an acidic bassline sits nicely over congas and a warm, rounded kick drum.

things tend to move in circles until they are complete. such is the case with wph ten-8. when fcl released their ‘cherry pie e.p.’ on kai alcé’s ndatl label it was already decided that kai alcé would find a home on wph as well. and with his absolutely stunning string of remixes of recent years in mind it made sense to ask kai to take up remix duties for a new fcl release. . the result is a release that oozes soul all over. the original track is fcl’s ‘let’s make a track and have great singers aka lady linn and gustaph singing about house music’-moment and kai’s remix is…well…simply another amazing slice of soul from the man that can do no wrong. it’s house music…as you should know it.

over the years moton has become synonymous with releasing great quality edits from a range of amazing producers. their 43rd release is no different offering up two glorious edits ready made for the dancefloor. cuffari (make the world larger than me) on the a side is four and a half minutes of luscious, soulful, string laden goodness, entrancing you with those dreamy vocals. trust us, she s right when she says the melody echoes in my mind this one will be stuck in your head for days! flip it over and marcel vogel, under his em vee alias channels the happy-go-lucky nyc discotheque days through dancing (jumbo). with an all too infectious guitar and bass riff, coupled with cosmic synth pops and perfectly layered vocal chants its sure fire, peak time disco gold.
