the deeper sister to tic tac toe, connect four is back with a new ep from german producer dub taylor aka tigerskin aka alex krüger. he has been crafting away in this warm, deep house realm for years under a number of different aliases, always weaving plenty of liquid grooves with a steady house pulse. the two original tracks served up here continue in that fine tradition.
after a year dominated with collaborations (the great lengths remix double pack), fresh blood and inveterate genre renegades (illum spheres titan ep & altered natives the bitch/crop duster respectively) we at 3024 came to the conclusion a new martyn release was perhaps overdue. not so much an album preview as a standalone document of a year spent expanding dance floor horizons over (a great many) seas. 3024s milestone 10th release arrives in november with 2 brand new martyn tracks as lefthander clatters in on heavily filtered drums, flickering high hats & garbled radio transmissions before a carousel synth melody breaks through the percussive murk accompanied by a roaming bass line that prioritises restraint over bludgeon. dubbed out ambience rapidly takes root in the gaps between concrete snares & dissonant brass stabs as bass and synths elevate themselves for one last round of call & response sparring before dissolving back into barely audible dialogue. steam age industrial monolith shook up swaps slink for haunted metronomic brutality, snapping quickly into focus first with relentless kicks before bass akin to an atari2600 playing berghain looms over the clouded horizon. offsetting the claustrophobia is the first hints of melody as an impossibly slight piano phrase creeps in, countering rhythmical pummelling with ghost in the machine delicacy. classically spastic 808 tendrils are underpinned by soaring synth strings as proceedings draw to a juddering close. capturing 3024s musical progress with typical accuracy erosies latest sleeve design is perhaps his best yet, echoing the back to basics theme with beautifully austere monochrome geometry curdling into something altogether more volatile at the edges
eargasmics 10th release showcases 3 different perspectives of the house sound from 3 different producers. all night dance - the debut from bjak and the unofficial eargasmic theme song, is an ultra smooth stomper thats reminiscent of the mid 90s loft party scene. a definite pick for all the deep heads. tetrode musics (and long time eargasmic member) specter adds his signature 5am beatdown sound style to this 12inch with i dont need. on the flip, the sun god makes a valiant return to eargasmic with an 11 minute beat track pulled out of his archives thats, as you ve guessed, complete mayhem.
the dismal realities, political or otherwise, that are part of our modern world naturally infuence our creative voices. it is in this context that white hills re-evaluated their approach to creating a new album. having continually refned their sound, pushing the boundaries of psychedelic music, white hills ?ipped the script on stop mute defeat.

mute veröffentlicht zum release des sechsten albums >wixiw< des new yorker indie/experimental trios liars die beiden alben >drums not dead< und >they were wrong so we drowned< neu auf 180 gramm vinyl.
im gegensatz zu ihrem debütalbum >they threw us in a trench and stuck a monument on top<, welches mitten in das herz des post punk/ no wave-revivals schlitterte, lieferte >they were wrong so we drowned< konsequenterweise wieder ein kontrastprogramm: ein krachiges konzeptalbum, das sich um hexen-prozesse im mittelalterlichen europa dreht und das von der band in zusammenarbeit mit david sitek (yeah yeah yeahs / tv on the radio) produziert wurde.

that marek hemmann has developed his own personally formed style is undeniable. now he is headed in the direction of song instead of tracks. with his success up until now in his rear view, he has managed with a lightheartedness to establish his own mark and develop himself even further.

a hardstyle instrumental bomb. a absolute must for the lovers of hardstyle. a side back to the roots. dark atmosphere with oriental and experimental synths. b side heartbreak, the name says it all - a melody which is reflective, wonderful piano solo
