cool electro swing vinyl with massive tracks by wolfgang lohr, arts & leni, tinush and the soundnomaden. this vinyl is an absolutely must have for the peak time. the people on the dancefloor will love it.
talul, known as one of the best in his profession, delivers this incredible production with oriental vocal. to complete this outstanding release, wolfgang lohr and dominik daks showed off their skills
the swiss-born dominik daks presents one of the best records that was ever released on ostfunk records. perfect for the summer, with groovy deep-house vocals, lets lilly the open air stages boil. the track gets as a top class wolfgang lohr-typical interpretation thanks to his remix.
legendary studio 1 re-release! >a series of very special minimal funky music based on very small and sneaky samples, danceable music but very much influenced by architecture and by the idea of taking minimal by the word and leaving out as much elements as possible to bring the maximum within the minimum.< – wolfgang voigt on the studio 1 series. with this re-release of two tracks from wolfgang voigts seminal studio 1 series, lisbons assemble music turns the spotlight back on to what amounts to the basic grammar of most contemporary underground house and techno. along with basic channel and the concept series, studio 1 has long been acknowledged as one of the forerunners of minimalist techno, though voigt is at pains to point out the >differences between their handwriting. rightly so, since neither mark & moritz nor hawtin prioritised the funk and fizz that jumps out of these two tracks >gelb< the determined younger brother to the more conventionally dubby (but no less groovy) >lila<. any producer who has spent long hours making minute adjustments to the interplay between the simplest of elements – kick, bass, snare, hats – should know they have been walking in voigts ever-so-well-placed footsteps. this re-release from assemble music serves as a reminder of where the music has come from
fresh new open air track by davis & dembowski. after the big success of 9 am they are back with their next massive release including remixes by patrick bateman (tic tac toe), nico pusch (damm rec.) and wolfgang lohr (ton liebt klang).
dixon cites tim hecker, autechre and wolfgang voigt as influences and this ep is as equally diverse. we begin with edge of the universe , an enigmatic techno experiment. tight hats and snare work give it an almost jackin feel whilst subtle bumping subs and cryptic vocal chops decorate throughout.
support by bebetta, homebase, glanz & ledwa, rich vom dorf, nu disco, turm 3, marcapasos, shemian, arts & leni, wolfgang lohr, stefko kruse, kanzler & wischnewski, lexer, mojito, dembowski and many more.
since its inception in 2001, each entry in the pop ambient series has included its year of conception in its title, an irony in the fact that many consider the music being timeless in more than one way: a feel-good classic to some, a rigorous experiment to others, pop ambient always has located itself between the poles of habitual listening and sonic curiosity, with the space in-between beats being a way more interesting material than the beat itself. as in the years before, pop ambient 2013 collects an illustrious cast of producers uniting genre pioneers alongside old friends and some surprising new arrivals.
the 12 inch vinyl comes with a cd-copy of the full album.
early support by rené bourgeois, dirty doering, rich vom dorf, wolfgang lohr, beatamines, glanz & ledwa, sandro beninati, andlee, homebase, dembowski, nico pusch, dj misk, aikoon, mozaic, illboyphil, marcel sareyka (partysan nord / feierei.de), laurent n., danny d., robert grand, 90sechzig90
jack dixon follows a string of critically acclaimed releases for apollo (r&s), take and losing suki (hypercolour) with his debut outing for hotflush. influenced by the sparse atmospherics of wolfgang voigt, the playful intricacy of autechre beats and the off-kilter grooves of uk garage, the berlin-based producer is unconstrained by genre or place, pioneering a modern, progressive sound that has already garnered him a glowing reputation. in turns colourful, ambient, melodic and driving, his new ep feels right at home on scubas label. beginning with a deceptively clean and minimal rhythm, >e< slowly gives way to lush glacial drones, skittering beats and huge euphoric drops to form a bold production that sits somewhere between the early morning techno dancefloors of berlin and the murky sweatbox raves of late-night south london. on the flip, he delivers the soulfully taut >find shelter<. warped vocals weave in and out of an insistent, jazzy house groove, backed by a tapestry of glitches, vinyl crackle and live drum flourishes. it all leads to one of the most delirious and ecstatic drops you will hear this year.
mohn are jörg burger and wolfgang voigt. >ebertplatz 2020< from their self-titled debut album sees some well deserved reworks by both protagonists and terranova.
early support by rene bourgeois, bebetta, oliver schories, oscar, rich vom dorf, compact grey, lars wickinger, glanz & ledwa, mojito, wolfgang lohr, chris blum, illboyphil, dembowski, kanzler & wischnewski and many more. here comes the next festival and dancefloorbomb on ton liebt klang
jack dixon, a london-based electronic artist draws influences from wolfgang voigt, mutant disco, autechre and tim hecker. quite an array of jumping off points and ones which are clearly evident throughout his intricate productions. his productions sound as much at home on a heaving, sweat-soaked, educated dance floor as they do on headphones in the sleepy urban half-light on the night bus home. from his earliest releases on brownswood, take, and silverback, jack has found love and support from amongst others mary anne hobbs, joy orbison, will saul, sinden and eats everything.
mohn = the new project by kompakt pioneers wolfgang voigt (mike ink, gas...) and jörg burger (the modernist, triola...)... 2x12 inch (180 gr) vinyl + free album cd + poster
limited reissue of this highly sought-after krautrock masterpiece from german musical genius richard schneider jr. also featuring the mighty wolfgang maus on bass, this lp takes you on an amazing journey through luscious pulsating psychedelic soundscapes providing a great showcase for mr schneiders exceptional skills on a huge range of instruments including glockenspiel, acoustic 12 string guitar, synthesiser, tubular bells, tambourine and cowbells. includes the crazily ethereal high the wonderful hello beach girls which sounds like the best beach trip ever - meaningless giggling lyrics on a lazy day in a paradise the gorgeous acid-tinged visions the more up-tempo groover samba session plus the achingly beautiful synth symphony crazy world. one of the super-rare cosmic/balearic holy grails, this whole album is a pure aural treat - lie back and enjoy the ride
pop ambient 2012 begins in an unusually new but nevertheless somehow familiar fashion. mohn with manifesto is the opening act. a manifest of slowness. a slowness that jörg burger and wolfgang voigt have taken up as new mission. mohn is their new ambient-grunge-down-beat project, scheduled to depart on its official musical journey to middle earth early 2012. what follows is equally surprising: the old kompakt swashbuckler superpitcher is taking part for the very first time.
cd version of this album included.
container is a recent moniker of nashville, tennessee resident ren schofield who has been actively shifting about the u.s. playing shows and releasing cassettes on his mysterious i just live here imprint for a long while now. known primarily for his god willing project, a disjointed, confusing, maze of crude oscillator, tape, and guitar, ren has established himself as a staple in the east coast underground.
here we have a new experiment in electronic beat oriented music. this is no standard fare, however. it glows with a vision all its own, completely isolated and separate making it difficult to place in the awkward world of the genre. the sounds are a thick stew congealing new ideas and naive experiments into something in the ballpark of the new super weird wolfgang voigt 12 inches, abstract and minimal in nature with time stopping tendencies. take those 12 inches and send them thru the garbage can, tape loop, reel to reel experiments of ake hodells >220 volt buddha< or that weird track with lawnmower by charles amirkhanian on the first slowscan volume and we might be getting closer.
new and exclusive tracks by wolfgang voigt, superpitcher, michael mayer, the modernist, reinhard voigt, jürgen paape (vinyl only), mohn (a new project of burger & voigt).
further to motor city drum ensembles dj kicks compilation, his exclusive single l.o.v.e. has been reworked by the young detroit prodigy kyle hall, the painter and music creator wolfgang voigt and an excellent remix by smallpeople. kyle has been highly influenced and captivated by the underground deep house sound of detroit. inspired by artists such as theo parrish, mike huckaby, rick wade, 3 chairs, kdj and omar s, who believe their music has a certain feeling of the advant garde and liberation from the so-called rules people place upon dance music. kyle took that principle of their music and applied it to music that he was trying to create. wolfgang voigt is known for his numerous, nearly inexhaustible list of one-off projects and aliases. of these, his best known is arguably >gas< a project that saw the marriage of ambient music and 4/4 techno. his remix of motor citys l.o.v.e shows his minimalistic approach to music he has been famed for worldwide. smallpeople are julius steinhoff & just von ahlefeld aka dionne. smallpeople are focused on a wider range of music and can be diverse- between deep house, detroit techno and some chicago flavours but always within the balance of atmospheric warmth and club suitability bringing yet another perfect addition to this remix package. watch out for more big tunes from smallpeople in the near future
following the legendary first two, stoically super minimal records >sog 1< and >sog 2< that provide ecstasy disguised as boredom on kompakt extra/speicher in 2007, and the outstanding beautifully bizarre >sog - abweichung< on profan in 2010, we are now listening to >fremde hÄnde<. like its predecessors, this sog stands in the tradition of >the art of omission< with wolfgang voigt variegating his preference for the bluntly straightforward quaver bass in two different forms. the a-side contains a tonally noncommittal sequence ambling across the keyboard in quantised form, reminiscing of the arpeggiator (accompaniment function) function of early 70ies and 80ies synthesizers. on the b-side, daring and thoroughly unquantised quaver rhythms rock around a bass drum that, as the only straight element, tries to keep the whole thing together. the result sounds a little like a delirious can live.
including bob sinclar & raffaella carrà far lamore, sunfreakz & jeremy carr the way we are (mysto & pizzi remix instrumental), wolfgang gartner illmerica and pleasurekraft carny
debut release for stareaway, a new project of german >inventor of pop ambient< markus guentner with singer heiko badje, the man behind saudade-driven pop band la grande illusion. following several releases and highly successful and critically acclaimed albums guentner solely released since 2001 for kompakt and ware, guentner and badje contributed their first co-operation >baghira< on kompakts pop ambient 2006 compilation. markus guentners track >regensburg<, considered to be one of the best tracks kompakt ever released, was selected by sven väth to finish his mix of the second season and remixed by wolfgang voigt. for the start of the new hamburg based label couldnt care more they release two melancholic pop ambient tracks, the title track additionally remixed by osunlade, the acclaimed producer, dj and label owner of yoruba records. the both aerial and profound ambient soundscape of >learn how to love me< is waiting patiently, increasing softly while heiko badjes voice shivers with emotions of entreaty and wanting. it is followed by the sublime deepness of >unwise< in which badjes lyrics about love and temptation appear into a vision of pop as atmospheric intensity and disappear into somewhere else. on the b-side the yoruba soul suite reworks the original totally. osunlade is looking for a different kind of deepness, transforming ambient into an epic, floating journey of house music full of light and groove
pop ambient returns. kompakts beloved series. this is our other arena of bliss, always curated and carefully compiled by label co-owner wolfgang voigt (aka gas). somber times call for more introspective sound scapes - >pop ambient 2011< continues its mission to slowly persuade its signature sound introduced over a decade ago. this year we see the series leaning towards a slightly darker complexion than its predecessors.
upfront final copies only at decks.de!!! 2nd thought. consequently this is the next step after the first release of varied records. the labelowner and artists wolfgang rohrer and alexander siegel submits with this ep their common work within four tracks. however, rohrer&siegel identifies no reason to describe their own music in florid style.
we say this every year but pop ambient 2010 is a defining moment for the series - a change in pace but a familiar face for those that have been yearning for our annual remedy. enjoy. the vinyl version contains a free cd of the album !!!
an outstanding sampler of ibiza hits from the toolroom stable! a collection of tracks and remixes that have been working exceptionally well on the dance floor at the toolroom takeover parties at pacha & space ibiza this year
