dark entries is honored to release dualism , the sophomore e.p. from contemporary montreal-based duo, solitary dancer. they released an eponymously titled debut e.p. on midland s label graded in late 2016 after their track

glaswegian techno stalwart edit select presents the thirtieth effort in his edit select records series. “aftereffekts” is a 4 track release that opens with the thumping “the visitor”, this track combines puzzling percussive movements with otherwordly pads which subtly build to a hypnotic climax.
“fallen” is a broad sounding cut with an almost orchestral touch to it. the uncanny drum patterns and repetative fx make for a solid voyage. “aftereffect” is a percussion laden cut with soul touching strings that float throughout. “you” is a melancholic piece of art that incorporates heavenly pads with beautifully orchestrated rhodes sounds and a hypnotic drumtrack.

after some releases on several interesting label in the techno scene, reform make return to etruria with their strong new ep called “checkmate-, which includes two remixes from the soma talent charles fenckler and the belgian amelie lens . first original is a melodic track characterized by hypnotic synths which interchange everytime in the arrangement and also dirty and powered drums. amelie version’s express exactly her style, giving to the tracks something magic with the vocals added, making a very true and enigmatic game of chess. second original instead is dominated by a strong pad, which fill up the mix, blowing up in the break and giving an epic feeling to the ensemble. charles’s remix is techno with no excuses: raw powerful and groovy, is the perfect end for this pack, giving a much more underground touch to the release.

it really feels like we (aka mad mats & tooli) have been around way longer than 5 1/2 years with local talk, but it s really true what they say, time flies when you re having fun! from what started as a somewhat simple and almost primitive urge to create a small house imprint has now grown into a much bigger affair. we really tried hard to keep the label from getting stuck in any genre (remember 90s house?) and to always keep the local talk relevant, curious, diverse and with a healthy dose of underground mentality. from our very first release with bassfort s excellent moon shadow in the summer of 2011, we had a crystal clear vision of what local talk should represent...house music in any way, shape or form! over the years we released soulful, disco, jack, afro, vocal, deep, jazz, tech, latin, old school, acid, uk, berlin, new jersey, detroit and of course chicago inspired house music. if it made us bump...we put it out! this brings us up to today and about +80 releases later. we thought about how we best could sum up these first 5 1/2 years and immediately the image of blaze s classic album 25 years later popped up. besides the fact that it s an amazing album cover it also a good representation when different musical genres fuse together. it s not strictly a house album but just as well a r&b, reggae and soul album. this fusion and variation of house sounds is something that we ve tried to capture on our 5 1/2 years later compilation, split into two parts. on part 2 you ll find a high energy disco rub from parisian s3a, a truly deep and soulful vocal jam from boddhi satva & sly johnson, a deep uk garage production from smbd (aka simbad), a dark and electronic affair from toto chiavetta (yoruba) and finally a musical acid number with that magical bristol touch from newcomer marcel lune. all in all we think we got most angles covered and hopefully this album will make you spread that chalk on the dance floor and get down...local talk style

homeys records new release,something new, features the first collaboration between marina p and the upcoming french producer ksd. once the original track was completed, the vocals were given to three other producers close to the italian singer for remixing. stand high patrol’s version offers a jazzy take on the track with unexpected footwork influences. twm, for his very first release, presents a steppers version made for the soundsystem. homeys brings a roots reggae touch with a flute part that leads the theme.

in its five years dgtl has carved its style and sound worldwide as one of amsterdams staple dance music institutions. this year the organisation is deepening its focus and vision. therefore dgtl is launching its own imprint dgtl records. the label builds on the festivals musical theme of an evocative cross section of the sounds and styles showcasing forward thinking, cutting edge artists. the one to kick off the new imprint will be the bulgarian hardware wizard kink. best known for his live performances, teemed with explosive energy, which for a consecutive year puts him to the no.1 spot of live acts on ra poll, he is also one of houses most in demand producers. kink has worked with dgtl for quite some time, including last years audiovisual installation transmission tower, where the first track neutrino was born. the melodic neutrino , kicks off with syncopating bassline. its interconnecting layers organically jump over and under each other, reflecting the organic character of kinks live performances, where every knob touch and turn matters. on the latter, he built the b-sider dynamo: i loaded my favourite element from neutrino in my computer and i tweaked the sound through various weird devices in my studio, till it sounded like a completely new track. as usual, he added a few endless loops on the record, for the adventurous djs, exclusively for the 12inch. the idea for the dgtl records artwork is to feature a different visual/graphic artist from the dgtl art program every year starting with the cover from tim buiting and his graphical visual of the liege train station, designed by calatrava for this years releases.

folamour was responsible for one of the dreamiest, most colourful deep house records of recent times - the brilliant shakkei ep on all city so hopes are naturally high for this excursion on the producer s recently launched fhuo records. he kicks off proceedings with the thrillingly addictive very first touch, where dreamy pads and looped party samples cluster around a snappy, jazz-fuelled house groove, before ratcheting the energy levels up a notch or two via the rubbery slap bass, driving drum machine beats and warm rhodes chords of alerte a babylon. in between, you ll find pravis l estaque, a stomping deep house floor-burner blessed with some seriously good, jammed-out electric piano solos.

a hidden recordings mainstay, jc laurent’s once again combines his admiration and respect for detroit’s gritty past with a modern touch that makes his techno / house sound all his own. previously on the label, he released “from nice to berlin” with a remix from the legendary fred p. aka black jazz consortium as well as “southside” with a remix from uk’s tom dicicco (the corner, run out run). handling important remix duties is michigan native myles sergé. first introduced to techno in the late 80’s and described as a ‘reclusive perfectionist’, his haunting productions reflect influences from early detroit / chicago electronic music.

out for a moment supra comes back in full swing! for its return the parisian imprint presents a collab between super talented french producer onelight and one of the label’s dearest and biggest influence, the legendary egyptian lover. after tuggspeedman, a first release supported by busy p, gilb’r and machinedrum, onelight continues here his musical path with this silver ep. silver is a sophisticated blend of electro funk, break beat and techno. the song is inspired by his obsession for silver rings and more precisely for their sound, spiritual and magnetic energy. who else than the californian legend egyptian lover can provide here some hypnotic vocals? indeed the 808’s king takes his inspiration from all the symbolic of rings and gems and brings to the song his very unique and charismatic touch. maxillaire is going slower but is definitely powerful. it sounds like a 97 bpm techno music made for a space travel soundtrack with a codeine cup. label boss luc supra and orestt (evrlst / mb labworks) team up as supra allstars and deliver the silver deep re rub that appears to be the perfect bridge between detroit and l.a. definitely one for the clubs !

keith & tex are jamaican rocksteady icons, with classics for life, such as ‘tonight’, ‘this is my song’, ‘run to the rocks’, ‘goodbye baby’ and, of course, the song ‘stop that train’, worldwide famous tune that was featured in jimmy cliff’s ‘the harder they come’ original film sound track.

mark rae is the man behind one of the key uk music movements of the last 25 years. as a founder of the shop fat city records and the label grand central, mark worked with some of the worlds biggest artists going on to earn several platinumm discs with his work as one half of the highly respected production duo rae & christian. this project is a worlds first autobiography and album, the release is packaged as a gatefold 10 inch which opens out to the book held within. the 40 000 word book covers the author mark rae s journey through the music industry. it follows the creation and dissolution of fat city and grand central records, rae & christian and yesking. the underground club scenes of manchester, gang wars, success, failure, working with bobby womack, jay z and the pharcyde. the project has been supported by whosampled, dj magazine, vice and the tate modern. the artwork is exceptional featuring an historical montage throughout the inner gatefold sleeve. the music features guest vocals from tony d who was a big influence in the original grand central records sound, soul king pete simpson, multi instrumentalist shawn lee and kate rogers.

esteemed composer piero umiliani released scores of music in his lifetime from the famous to the obscure, but his forays into jazz continue to be a delight for diggers the world over. here galaxy present storia e prehistoria, recorded under his alias rovi and originally released in 1972. its a stirring collection of music that touches on soundtrack themes throughout, capturing the sound of the era impeccably while sporting umilianis inimitable touch in the same breath. the album is full of sumptuous orchestrations of brass, keys, harp and more besides, each piece loaded with romance and cool as could only come from italy.

label heads zem suyung and sami join forces to present their debut ep as samisuyung. gorgeous melodies are underpinned by heavy duty basslines throughout, making this a record that tenderly balances sweet and sinister. hallucinatory sound design provides the backbone, stomping club rhythms give it legs.

after an amazing 2016 year remixing legend mobys porcelain for drumcode, releasing on labels like soma, drumcode (with his phoenix as well), kaputt ltd, planet rhythm, tip top, label owner luca agnelli is back on his own etruria beat. this new release contains 2 original cuts and 2 remixes by amazing artists abstract division and yotam avni. original tracks metamorphosis and chaos are very powerful techno tunes, filled with hypnotic looped chords, melodic synth stabs on solid beats and drops. dynamic reflections owner abstract division revisited metamorphosis in a very mental trippy way, adding a dutch raw and dark touch to the title. after a few releases on innervisions, stroboscopic artefact, yotam avni transformed metamorphosis into a pumping groovy track that can destroy any dancefloor. play it loud!

minimood welcomes copenhagen based master duo merv for two tantalising new tracks, and thus continues the reductionist dub techno stance the label has been advocating lately. after 2 decades of silence, this new ep marks merv s first new material and suggests that they have lost none of their magic touch. blank i is nine minutes of expert and exquisite dub techno. the kicks ping with an infectious thump, the dub chords are fantastically crisp and well crafted as they float in space and swallow up the drums. widescreen and edgeless, warm dubby techno. blank ii is a equally stripped-back and elegant dub techno affair as blank i, yet with a more upright and direct twist. slapping hits and lively chords are riding above the rolling, loopy drums. a ride that will guide through the deepest nights. vinyl only!

for this second release, the hedzup crew invite the hot and prolific producer carlos sanchez in collab with wlad and damien badey for an hypnotic groove named strong. two solid remixes on this release - politics of dancing pushed the track to a higher level of efficiency and john jastszebski applied his raw techno touch. as an extra tool, the 2 heads thinking from hedzup, wlad and mancini for their first collab created an aerian and groovy track -12th-.
