fresh 2010 repress !! historia y violencia is a new project exploring the hispanic roots of santiago salazar (dj s2) and j. mendez (silent servant). both producers dissect their latin upbringings as a cinematic theme to create snapshots of the day-to-day blood and sweat that has shaped them as individuals. the sound takes cue from detroit, berlin and chicago to create classic, deep dancefloor tracks. santiago salazar started djing in the early 90s inspired by mix tapes his brother was bringing back from the gay underground scene in los angeles. his style has always been a mixture of house and techno. after moving to detroit, santiago began his music training with mike banks, label founder of underground resistance. he is also half of the duo ican (ican productions / planet e) who have been responsible for some killer techno releases. the central american born j. mendez cut his teeth as jasper in the late 90s/early 2000s, running the california-based cytrax label. a veteran dj from the age of 16, he has performed worldwide in clubs from berlin to osaka. along with technical wizards kit clayton and sutekh, he helped shed light on the small but influential minimal techno scene on the west coast. a chance meeting with karl oconnor in 1999 established a friendship that would later open the door to the sandwell district label in 2006. silent servants sound is a reinterpretation of early 80s post-punk electronics, paired with the deep, metallic sounds of basic channel and downwards.

>strombooty< (for details, consult your local urban dictionary) is the modern dalessandro sound, combining heady experimentation with dance floor prowess. the eps title track is a deep, yet explosive number that creeps in subtly like dark clouds on the horizon, before raining down a devastating thunderstorm over the speakers.
the latin-flavored >el tapatio< and super-deep cut >speak to me< make up the b-side. although the tracks represent different aspects of the dalessandro sound, the commonality they share is a thoughtful approach to dance music that much of the formulaic output these days lacks.

prime numbers are back with e11.... the latest in the pn e.p series. three exclusive tracks by mr scruff & kaidi tatham, motor city drum ensemble and andrés! this time we feature a heavyweight collaboration between mr scruff & kaidi tatham who provide a smouldering jazz-house production with kaidi leading the way on keys and flute on top of a chunky, bottom-heavy groove. motor city drum ensemble drops a killer raw cut. a heavily smashed jackin’ disco workout with all the markings of a fine cajual dub or early striclty rhyhtm. the track oozes soul and is unpretentiously aimed at the dancefloor. once again danilo plessow proves less is more. andrés completes the line up with a cheeky blend of some classic ingredients. sounding like a track from his early releases, “jack city” has all the essential hallmarks of the andrés sound with an excellently simple but purely effective fusion of house and hiphop ethics

7 oz. records has come to its 4th release in vinyl. label founders siddharta and mr. rovat have finally put the last touches to their musical debut with windy city lights, an explicit dedication to the sound which influenced them in the 90s. its an ep which relives those chicago and detroit atmospheres, enhanced by the solo trumpet played by acclaimed musician omar valle, who gives it a unique jazzy mood intertwined with drum machines and old school tools, an attempt to have the record play in an analogic manner.
the remix was handed over to none other than to brothers vibe, an historical name in the north-american deep and house scene. the result is filled with dub echos, undoubtedly detroit and perfect for any set!

>twisted tango< is the most stripped down of all three tracks and a real cool groover. one of these tracks that grow enormously with volume and space. these two guys have got a good vision of how dance music should be to clad the clubbers in cotton batting. their cool way of transmitting indifference has always been the carrier of sensuality and sexiness in entertainment and it does create a certain kind of peppermint stench here. the vocals stabs in this one work like dubby elements which deep a & biri drop like things dropping out of your pocket.
>mischievous< is a perfect bassline monster... deep and heavy with a genius >pam pam< vocal stab. we dont know where these samples come from but they are luscious as hell. welcome to the pleasure dome!
>hine gama< is as cool as the two other tracks but but a little more laissez-faire fair. we dont think that anybody will be able to resist this bright light brown colour it shows with all its reflections of intensive sunbeams shining in.
this release fits perfectly to the last release on trapez ltd.
