globe-trotting production heavyweight quantic collaborates with rising talent nicola cruz on an epic remix of puente roto from cruz’s debut album prender el alma. following the release of prender el alma (2015) and nicola cruz’s imminent global takeover, the young ecuadorian called on a crop of producers for remix duty. serendipitously, quantic, one of nicola’s inspirations, answered the call in his signature way with a bass-heavy, jazzy and psychedelic display of genius that will move any dance-floor that thrives on global beats. the release comes on limited edition 180g 12” vinyl - the b-side lovingly etched with a design.

almost 10 years have passed since onra arrived with the charmingly eccentric chinoiseries lp. 32 hip-hop beats formed the sample-based project dusty chinese vinyl hissing and crackling throughout resulting in an intriguing and spontaneous mix of the producers interest in exploring a newly-discovered style of music with his love for classic hip-hop production. using the style of analogue mpc production combined with the somewhat restrictive record sampling of strictly chinese music records, he has been able to be creative over three volumes, an amount of 100 instrumentals, despite the challenge of finding more obviously standout samples in chinese music. the chinoiseries projects are the type of albums that invites the listener to play it from beginning to end, in order to really enjoy the trip and appreciate the variety of rhythms and textures spread over those 32 short instrumentals. in that way, pt.3 is no different to its predecessors, but the originality of the samples, the curious harmonies and the odd-drum patterns still makes the album sounds as fresh as the first one. onra finishes this epic trilogy with class as a result of extended record digging across the far east and the producer s own development over the preceding 10 years.

after spending a year on the road, experimenting with new sounds and production methods, abstract division returns to their home imprint with the release of the activated ep. fashioned true to their well known unique balanced style, this three track ep presents its listener with a powerful blend of deep tools and peak-time grooves. a real must-have for every selector, these tracks will cary any dance-floor deep in to the night, and far beyond.

to the untrained ear a collaboration between mosaic boss steve o sullivan and minimal house maestro ricardo villalobos may not seem like the most obvious sound clash. however, dig a little deeper and you ll find that both these artists have a long history and shared love of stripped back aesthetics and dubbed out rhythms carving out respective sounds that have never strayed far from their roots. sullric is the result of a daylong session at the end of 2016 where the pair plugged in, switched on and set everything to cycle: recording several hours worth of material to tape with an edit of their favourite passage worked into two versions in post-production.

vitalik continue their vinyl gold series with another gold standard release. for the forthcoming vitnyl003 clive henry drops a fifteen minute long opus on a single sided limited edition vinyl. my fifteen minutes of fame is contrastingly raw in it s production and sublime in composition. it s gentle meandering melodies float over a warm bed of muted pads and analogue bass. recorded as a live jam and stripped down to its constituent parts its melodies take centre stage, enthralling the listener into what can be best described as an acid house lullaby and what has already been penned as an instant balearic classic. my fifteen minutes of fame was engineered by rui da silva and is the former peace division front man s first solo release since his illustrious studio partnership with justin drake, he joins artists such as jimmy edgar, the mole, franklin de costa and anonym on the vinyl only vitalik offshoot.

legendary dj daniele baldelli, who was resident at the infamous cosmic club on lake garda and pioneer of the cosmic sound, joins forces with italian maestro dj rocca and takes file under disco on a journey into outer disco space. famous as an extremely eclectic and open-minded dj, here baldelli transports this approach to the production of funkynoizer . and in the hands of a master producer like rocca the result is a track which fuses dub, afro, disco and electronic elements seamlessly into a tasty alternative discoid brew. remix action comes from brasilian duo selvagem (big fans of baldelli) whose reputation grows and grows with every spin of each record and every release that passes through their talented hands. here they dress the original in leopard skin pants and throw into into an all night, outdoor carnival party where anything goes. next up pete herbert & dicky trisco take the original on a heads down disco trip and work it to the bone. live driving bass, funky clav and a glorious piano line do a wonky waltz with the the afro dub essentials of the original. finally the man himself dj rocca treats us to a very classy disco-boogie version that would have rocked legendary parties back in the halcyon days of nyc disco

i discovered benoit b through his own label - banlieue records. he’s part of a new breed of young french producers who make music without any hang-ups and that are inspired by the entire history of house and techno and everything in-between. i liked the combination of club beats with a deep, super melodic approach. the 6 tracks featured here almost make up an entire album that reflects benoit’s skills and sense of production. everything is here -from ambient experiments to heavyweight club tracks and beyond. here, bear witness to the new sound of france (even though he lives in berlin!)

next up on detroit wax is a phenomenal two track ep from the prolific eddie fowlkes(techno originator - godfather of techno soul). renowned for their ability to seamlessly fuse together elements of urban techno & urban house and old school funky influences, and the dj production from the home land of detroit. side a. a deep vocals from naa dee(from the lu, swiss) has soulful ness that heats up the track into inspirational movement on the dance floor that just don t stop on the dance floor. side (b). this is a surefire dancefloor detroit destroyer that would be right at home in any dj s create already gaining heavyweight support from the likes of loco dice, norm tally, robert diezt, juan atkins, delano smith, shall i continue?

i-lp-o in dub is the solo project of pan sonic member ilpo väisänen. capital dub chapter 1 follows the 2015 debut communist dub - a year marked by further descent into economic crisis and instability. the usual business cycles of production / distribution / consumption running alongside macro cycles of boom and bust have been replaced by ossification, austerity, the machine seizing up.
ilpo’s “circular riddims” complement the ebb and flow of the circulation of money + commodities and are mirrored by his field recordings of barcelona rain – the final phase of the cyclical movement of water. but of course the smooth running of “paradise capital” is unsustainable. destroyed techno and open spaces contend with sinister swarming atmospheres. a cash machine flickers. zeros and ones displace another factory. dub as decay – the ghostly remains of tracks eroded by time and technology. the “invisible hand” of the market spasms with tremors.
ferocious textural feedback as music for stock exchange crashes. the soundtrack to heaps of money hoarded by the hidden class. capital is value in motion, but there is nowhere to go. after the collapse, picturesque ruins. capital dub chapter 1 simply asks the question: what next?

bqd40.2 is a collection of original material of artists who we signed back then. on the a side, vid’s “camelie” was an early masterpiece for the label. the mesmerising piano that shines over the beat caught everybody out and made this track one of the most loved brouqade anthems. the b1 belongs to label fave, oshana, who actually released her first production, “magdelena”, on the label. the track featured here, “something different”, was part of a digital compilation, and we’re proud to say we’ve been part of oshana’s story since the very beginning. and as we’ve been digging this track for so long, it’s now only right that it gets some a release on wax.

this man is obviously in love with his drumbox, and so are we. deadly davy kehoe s debut is a beauty, and yet another suprise thrown up from the wah wah wino camp. deft production and sonic understanding combined with a real rock n roller mind set. evokes a similar feeling on first listen like that morgan buckley 12- some years back now, unique. storm desmond is already getting props and radio plays all over. shexy ball control throughout. big tip!

james dexters star has been rising for a while now - the young brit turning out killer tracks regularly on the back of hugely well received dj sets. on his second outing for dessous recordings, dexter does what he does best - four slices of deep, funky and vibing house music for the floor. lead track drift is typical of dexters flair for subtle, edgy sounds, wrapped inside a warm and inviting groove. elements come and go, but the shuffling, infection feel runs throughout. take me is a more upfront vibe with a seriously bumping groove - dexter clearly well versed in the roots of house music from chicago. ‘whose rules ?’ is a snappy, bright and lively production, with a sub bass that will troubler some of the world’s best club systems in the coming months. the light, jazzy vocals offsets the groove perfectly - sure to be a big tune for a wide variety of djs. the last track of the release is disco deep - and it pretty much does exactly what it says - a swung, groovy feel punctuated by disco claps and balearic flourishes that will sound as good on the beach as in the basement.

it really feels like we (aka mad mats & tooli) have been around way longer than 5 1/2 years with local talk, but it s really true what they say, time flies when you re having fun! from what started as a somewhat simple and almost primitive urge to create a small house imprint has now grown into a much bigger affair. we really tried hard to keep the label from getting stuck in any genre (remember 90s house?) and to always keep the local talk relevant, curious, diverse and with a healthy dose of underground mentality. from our very first release with bassfort s excellent moon shadow in the summer of 2011, we had a crystal clear vision of what local talk should represent...house music in any way, shape or form! over the years we released soulful, disco, jack, afro, vocal, deep, jazz, tech, latin, old school, acid, uk, berlin, new jersey, detroit and of course chicago inspired house music. if it made us bump...we put it out! this brings us up to today and about +80 releases later. we thought about how we best could sum up these first 5 1/2 years and immediately the image of blaze s classic album 25 years later popped up. besides the fact that it s an amazing album cover it also a good representation when different musical genres fuse together. it s not strictly a house album but just as well a r&b, reggae and soul album. this fusion and variation of house sounds is something that we ve tried to capture on our 5 1/2 years later compilation, split into two parts. on part 2 you ll find a high energy disco rub from parisian s3a, a truly deep and soulful vocal jam from boddhi satva & sly johnson, a deep uk garage production from smbd (aka simbad), a dark and electronic affair from toto chiavetta (yoruba) and finally a musical acid number with that magical bristol touch from newcomer marcel lune. all in all we think we got most angles covered and hopefully this album will make you spread that chalk on the dance floor and get down...local talk style

acclaimed russian producer, dj and live musician kito jempere is back with a stunning second album, this time on italian label hell yeah. entitled sea monster and due for release in early 2017, the nine track album is a fantastic fusion of live instrumentation and electronic production. kito jempere is a musical polymath. the russian artist, producer, multi-instrumentalist and band leader has been involved in many projects over the last ten years plus. these range from rock to acid jazz to electronic bands and often call upon a rotating cast of other members who are all equally talented. from playing in small bars to headlining big shows for thousands of people in saint petersburg, he has put out a number of albums and singles on labels like freerange, room with a view and hell yeah and djs around europe. jempere plays live as the kito jempere band, and here he calls upon his bandmates for their many skills to lend the album a richly musical feel.
