arguably all but the most dedicated fans will have long forgotten most significant beat, a post industrial early 90s techno project from former clock dva man maurizio martinucci and esplendor geonetrico s saverio evangelista. this surprise vinyl compilation tells the story of their previously cd-only late 90s work, throwing in a previously unheard workout, the angular rhythms and sheffield bleeps of geometric state for good measure. for the most part, the material has aged remarkably well, and sits somewhere between the forthright madness of autechre, the spacey techno of detroit-via-frankfurt (see amy tekno) and the buzzing intensity of surgeon.

the second offering from brooklyn-based let s play house offshoot, room service, is, like the first one, a four-track solo ep by one of the most exciting house music talent s around. records features four originals by spanish producer kresy, who s already released a few 12inchs on the esteemed hivern discs as well as retrofit, freerange, and his own discomaths. the songs included here vacillate between hands-in-the-air feel good disco and jittery, shuffling house, though they re all unified by an inherent grooviness and bright tonality.

i am very happy and excited to present the new ep by claudia anderson on singular rec., its her second release on the label and its a real pleasure. she cooked a really varied record once again, liquid forms takes place on a1 and its real voodoo here, the effect of this track is very unique, it’s space and deep, surrounded by many little effects that give such a special result, then comes neutral state, a timeless dub & house feeling, very loopy, that reminded me some stl cuts. be one opens the b… i ve been really sensible to its very sexy percussions play and delayed lead, it transports literally during all the length, its very high quality. to end properly this ep, claudia did a superb ambient cut, everybody knows i love ambient and so here i ve been charmed… its a deep, noisy atmospheric track that close the all perfectly, with simple little percussions that come and go, just what it takes… its a confirmation of all the good i thought about claudias talent, a very subtle, deep and charming record, and i hope you will like it as much as i do! marcelus.

san francisco-based dj/producer nick monaco has long been part of the soul clap family, releasing his first 12- on the label back in 2012. mating call, a double 12- set running at album length, is easily his most expansive release yet. it s typically eccentric, delivering a range of songs - featuring his own distinctive vocals - that blend numerous styles whilst retaining a loose, funky and altogether rather kaleidoscopic feel. it s rooted in balearic pop, but also touches on dub, deep house, boogie, dub disco and a strangely deep and contemporary take on the triple-beat rhythms of glam rock. it s hard to accurately describe, but is really rather good, certainly, it s one of soul clap s strongest releases of recent times.

another classic from the west end archives! forrrces keep on dancin from 1982 was a huge record across the board from bronx block parties to the paradise garage in nyc and dj harveys moist nights in london town, its popularity was bolstered by a fierce francois k dub mix on the b-side that stripped the record right back to it s most basic elements with a healthy dose of reverb assisted psychedelia thrown in for good measure! this killer cowbell led boogie jam has always been a big hit with disco freaks and continues to sound fresh some 30+ years later even making its way into veteran uk dj and music historian sean ps 100 boogie essentials 1980-1984 list. high praise indeed!re-mastered from original tape transfers, re-pressed and made available again for 2015 in conjunction with west end records, new york city.

roadside edits are back, their first 12inch was a very limited pressing, and it sold out faster than moonshine back in the prohibition days, so they have repressed it, and for good measure they have added their foot stomping edit moonshine on the a side, its a liquid disco funk hoe down thigh slapping drunken stomp, funky and slide guitars, the odd brass stab here and there, throw in a bit of organ with some chunky pianos, add some guy laughing and we are good to go. b1 gets going with a funky disco cosmic groover with some wicked wah wah guitar, strings, effects, cool synths and tight drums, all bound to get them moving on the dance floor. b2 groove is so infectious with some sweet harmonica solos, tight bass and soaring strings that lifts this track and the crowd to cloud
