after their sure-fire succession of great releases dam swindle end up on the excellent freerange imprint. and if you like the words deep along with atmospheric then this will most definitely appeal to you. from the opening title track with its lush, moody nu-groove styled pads and thunderous hand-claps these three productions simply ooze class and intensity in abundance. next is >gotta know< which rewinds back to classic house sounds and injects a sense of melody into the already swinging rhythms and punchy, detroit bass. which is then followed by >brotherman< and yet more in-depth moods, this time accompanied by jazzy, scat styled vocals for added diversity. finally we have wolf music main man krl stepping up to remix brotherman and a rather sterling job he does to. making great use of the vocal krl brings us a slowed down version with his trademark shuffling drums and a dynamic arrangement. piano stabs and a cheeky boogie synth sample all help bring his own sound to the track and round off the package perfectly.

luca c & brigante are beginning to need no introduction as their heady balearic mix of sounds continue to resonate from the beach to the club. together, they have dropped bombs such as >different morals< feat. ali love and the robert owens fronted >tomorrow can wait<. luca c is also one half of infinity ink, whose >infinity< has been one of the summers biggest records, and a new addition to hot natured alongside jamie jones, ali love and lee foss. sebi aka brigante has remixed the new single from ali love, about to drop on no.19. aligning with the ancient mayan prophecy that the end of the world is due december 21st 2012, luca c & brigantes new single >flash of light< featuring dance music icon roisin murphy is a call to love like there is no tomorrow. embedded in heavy reverb and stripped back to slow steady drums, the mood rises as roisins crystalline vocals fall into rhythm and weightlessness builds with the bassline hook, pearly high-pitched strings and a burst of harmonic percussion.

sunwalkers is the b-side project of rks, thats what happens when the power of the beats meets the light of the synths. a raw mix of miscellaneous pad and analogue drums that start with a tribute, a detroit reminding track, 303 acid bass and a blaze of sweet melodies, like the old school way says. the ride goes on with 2, an easy dancing jam, the piano chords run into an unceasing clap for a massive dirty floor killer. on the b-side terrence parker puts his groovy piano style on a brilliant remix of the light, seven minutes of pure detroit parkers energy with a dreamy heartbreaker bridge.

with recent releases for internasjonal and tim sweeneys beats in space records, los angeles based producer secret circuit (otherwise known as eddie ruscha) has had a breakthrough year with his brittle synth jams, taking inspiration from balearic disco and minimal wave alike. however, he has been a prolific producer since 1996, and this record on emotional response, entitled tropical psychedelics, collects productions from rusha up until 2010 that have previously only seen the light of day on cassette releases. described by the label as a >balearic-tropical-afro-psychedelic whirl<, the album packs a rich palette of analogue textures into its ten tracks, from the afro dub of >afrobotics<, through the hazy, beatless combination of piano and analogue synth on >psouvenirs< to the psychedelic tropicalia of >foggy twilights<.

two of the uks most formidable names in techno step into the ring for a head to head on theory. stephen brown is a man who certainly needs no introduction, and his knack of channeling the best of detroit innovation and adding his own distinct flavours shows no sign of letting up. on >fuego< and >polar< brown takes us further into the jacking zone, his signature lush melodies driving up the rear until they envelope the tracks in a haze of deep and emotive vibrations, but never letting up on the tough rhythms. ben sims is drafted in to remix both tracks, leaving slicing shards of sound and roughing up the beat on his remix of >polar<, before delving into a hard-funk take of >fuego<. big business from two keepers of the true techno flame.

culprit close the summer series of eps with the label debut from luca bacchetti. the bahamas ep spans two original tracks that are as unabashedly hot climate and open-air discotheque suited as anything the label has released. true to culprits way, bacchetti a veteran of the global underground scene delves deeper into his analog vintage side, with results that are rich in texture and full in feeling.

its time for the second release on diamonds and pearls in 2012. two of the most singular and distinct forces in house and techno today team up for a special sonic treat. we are talking about the two alechmists xdb and kassem mosse. so get yourself ready for two extended journeys into techno, house and beyond. xdbs >ekatem< is a driving, rough and ready house track with a beautifully bubbling square bassline and dirty synth work. on the flip xdb is joined by kassem mosse for an exploration into the outer reaches of house music. omrish is a gritty-yet-atmospheric jam, full of shimmering chords and floating synth melodies which are puntuated by double kicks and crisp cymbals. mesmerizing stuff.

emerging from the endless summers of venice, ca to teaming up with shlohmo, jonwayne, d33j, rl grime and more to form the wedidit crew, jasper patterson aka groundislava has transformed from bashful video gamer to full-fledged composer. the son of michael patterson (who directed a-has standout music video >take on me< and paula abduls >opposites attract<), groundislava has roots that draw from 80s nostalgia, tv and pop culture that grow and transform into the 21st century aesthetic of electronic music.

the tracks on the oving ep are all reworks of the old back catalouge, recorded almost live in maximum two takes: slangemusikk, uggebugg and sauerkraut from the debut album - transformed into snake music, hamar bluesklubb and >surkal<. the last track aril moen is a new version of the 12inch morfar. the whole thing got mixed by no other than todd terje olsen and mastered to perfection by chris sansom at propeller studios.

4th release by 12records, presenting the new deep88 >removing dust< ep (taken from the forthcoming >removing dust< album that will be released later on this year). main single is a2 >the vibe<, a classic 90s beat made over a real melody, where vocals parts crossover and match each others, in two differents peaks, to create a whole >vibe< flow from the start till the end of the song. a1 is a test signal experiment, where samples take a different level, a sort of meta sample, a sample into a sample… well, have a listen, its easier to understand that way. bside is 3 tracks long, not a common practice in todays ep releases. b1 >grancartridge<, a moodymann house style raw song, b2 is even more raw sampling style, meanwhile b3 is a dreamy vocal house tune more common to deep88s style. the result is a mature ep, that ntroduces the 2nd deep88 album, always on 12records, and that will bring him into that >serious< realm of making house that is seen in some elite today (funny isn’t it… at the end it is just about music and we all have ears… maybe)... btw less marketing on our head, this 12inch wont be a coloured or hand written limited release, just the good old classic black one (yes it sounds better folks) and no limited copies… when is close to finish we will repress as usual.

ununhexium (r-n 116) is the sixth release of raster-noton unun series. emptyset is a bristol based project formed in 2005 by james ginzburg, di- rector of the multiverse studios and the curator and electronic artist paul pur- gas. the project explores the legacy of analogue media, integrating aspects of rhythm, signal processing and spatial recording within the framework of mini- malist composition. their work interrogates the perceptual boundaries between noise and music and the potential for both technology and architecture to em- bed and codify themselves within sound. collapsed is emptysets first release on raster-noton and investigates the threshold where sonic structure is destabilized to the point where a chaotic order emerges out of a resistance to fragmentation and likewise explores the potential contained within this liminal space of transition. across the four tracks of the release a structural grammar is defined and then pushed to excess to the point where it reforms from repetitive and stable frameworks into non-grid based forms and ultimately chaotic rule sets.
