About The Album:
At the time of releasing my debut album I was quite happy to handle the instruments myself though I do consider myself a jack of all trades, master of none. So the idea came to me slowly over time, how about putting a proper band together and jam just like in the old days(that being my "garage"days of the early 90’s. (And that’s garage like in where you park your car, not the "paradise"one). Free from the restrictions and isolation of being one person behind it all I set out to form the band, for no other reason than to jam and have fun. And if the lightning sparks we’ll try to catch it on tape. You’ll be the judge to whether we succeeded. I could of course have gone the obvious route of selecting amazingly skilled players, and don’t misunderstand me....some of them are. But more importantly I wanted the band the be less a "hired skills" one, more of a "merry band of pranksters"one. So after no auditions we did our first band practice on 1st of january 2011 consisting of me, some family members, some of their friends and some of my friends. under these covers I can proudly say one of them has even played with A-ha and one of them plays in a band called Crazy Whores..(Neil Young would be proud) "langemusikk", "uggebugg" and "sauerkraut"from my debut album where reworked into "snake music", "hamar bluesklubb" and "surkal". As a bonus we reworked my previous 12" only track "morfar"(grandad in norwegian, the track being a dedication to him) into "arild moen" which is the name he bore. morfar, this is for you… After one live concert in our home town of Oslo on 17th february 2011 we had nailed a reportoire consisting of the 4 tracks youll hear on this record. as there was little time to widen our repertoire and as we also had to learn a couple of new numbers for a forthcoming festival gig in Oslo we set about recording what we had so far. The whole thing was recorded direct to tape instrument by instrument to an old Studer 2 track tape machine, then transfered and edited as little as possible in the computer. All instruments where recorded with maximum 2 takes to keep it fun, loose and live. And of course, to free more time rehearsing new tracks for our upcoming concert... After a short period of mxing the whole record was sent to the labratory of dr. todd terje olsen for the best possible (of what there was to work with...) result. A quick bike ride later I sat in on the mastering session, beautifully delievered by chris sansom of propeller mastering over 2 hours. And there you have it. A polaroid moment from our rehearsal period. I hope you like it, I surely do. In the meantime weve gone on to playing a couple more shows, reworked a couple more tracks... you know, jammed and had fun.
