jonny rock a familiar face on the london house and disco scenes is recognized by many for working behind the counter at phonica records & blackmarket records during the 00s and as the dude for playing the guitar in freaks project. rock skillfully joins the dots between the old school house, underground disco and boogie vibes in a party setting.

this single is very special for visions recordings as we see a fresh collaboration between alex attias and luman child, two swiss artists reunited for the first time.alex proposed luman child a collaboration after listening to his music. then they met and talked about music , visions, influences, method of work and decided straight away to work together without knowing each other well and pushing them outside their comfort zone. they are both very happy with the resultjalex attias has been in the music for many years producing, remixing many great artists and djing all over the world. at the moment alex is about to release a compilation on bbe records ( lillygood party !) , plus a couple of remixes are on the way and he s also preparing other singles for his label visions .luman child produced in 2017 a killer first album with german label solid ground still available on a neo soul hip hop tip. he reached number 11 in the uk soul charts. as a musician and bass player luman child had a few collaborations with ferry ultra, gogo music and marc mac 4 hero.the project they present here is very organic soulful and musical. this single hold two killer tunes for the listener and the dancers.the a side is a 125 bpm disco jazz funk killer jam with live bass, fender rhodes and vintage keyboards sounds driven by a very funky drum beat and live basseline aimed to the dancefloor and good time party people keeping a smile on your face. its simply groovy and goes on and on for 10 minutes of pure disco pleasure.the b side is a funky number boogie jazz funk inspired by mr ayers vibes and sounds . the rhythm is groovy at 120 bpm and the moog bassline is round and fat. accompanied both track by fender rhodes and dope keyboards sounds, this one will definitely find place in dj boxes for those who play and love soulful music with an open mind. groovy , warm and soulful at his best.

the keeping of pets marks humans attempt at taking possession of a part of reality that is not at his disposal. dressing a piece of the real that lives according to entirely non-human rules and which only in the saddest case does not resist the discipline of the human symbolic order vehemently and in a sustained matter, is a violent act of protection. because in the non-place of the real, all that which we are helpless in the face of looms: the non-logical and the nameless, the violence and the noise, yet also the unrestrained and unfiltered desire.&#8232,,,the innocuous figure of the pet marks a gateway to an investigation of these eerie milieus, while electronic dance music lends itself to this investigation in an outstanding way. this constellation marks the subject of columns pets ii.

o phase presents two striking, no-nonsense techno cuts for token85. each side of suspended animation delivers the special kind of face melter that manages to remain sincere without being overly self-serious. stroke b favours the sensational approach, with a bright and playful lead playing against a hi-hat frenzy in the breakdown. stroke c is more introverted on surface level, but offers pure chaos instead from its depth.

the two stars, both superb singers who moved on to become award-winning actors, first worked together on a telethon in 1952, while dino was still half of the martin and lewis comedy duo. their friendship developed in the late 50s despite their widely differing personalities - dino developing an ever-increasingly laid-back approach, while sinatra proved to be sharp and frequently tempestuous. the two also bonded over their italian heritage. enjoy this lp including “ghost riders in the sky”, “south of the border” and many more!

this is the debut release on noir music from brazilian k.a.l.i.l. we have been working quite some time to perfect this first release from him on the label and give it the edge needed to stand out. after tons of road-testing and going back and forth with production ideas i am now happy to have 2 perfect tracks ready from k.a.l.i.l. that really showcase his super solid techno sound and production flair. “involved” (co-produced with any mello) is a quite simple trip with any’s spoken word in center of industrial elements wobling it and out. this track works really well in the clubs because of its on point minimalism, the high intensity stacatto synths and the catchy vocal line from any. it’s not easy to do big tracks without big basslines – but that’s what k.a.l.i.l. and any mello truely achieved with this one. “revolved” is a track i signed already last year and since then k.a.l.i.l. has been perfecting everything about the track from small details to bigger arrangement improvements. this track has that big bassline that sits right in your face. it also has the right build for those peaktime moments in the clubs. i have been playing “revolved” a lot over the past months and people go crazy for those big bass drops. we are honored to have another great producer join the noir music family and proud to have another belter of a release ready for you.

teatime dub encounters is the result of a few clandestine hotel room recording sessions, that began a few weeks after underworld and iggy pop had each released their last albums (barbara, barbara we face a shining future and post pop depression respectively) on the same day (march 18th2016). it is neither historical or a tribute to past work. it is the work of artists in motion, engaged in a process that both bring to all of their work – one that uses spontaneity as a spur for creativity.

body sculptures is a contemporary project that brings together five unique voices in european experimental electronic music today. the formative element is the collaborative pact between sweden’s northern electronics and denmark’s posh isolation. last year marked both body sculptures debut live performance - a highly notorious set at berlin atonal festival 2015 - as well as their debut recording, “the base of all beauty is the body”. the disparate elements that have come to inform the project thus far are further refined and encoded in their new lp, “a body turns to eden”.

luv dancin’ is an absolutely essential record. the underground solution was one of the monikers for roger sanchez, one of the most prolific house music producers in the 90s. this 1990 anthem luv dancin is a nyc deep house benchmark. based on arthur russell’s disco classic is it all over my face and with elements of the bottle interspersed with a deep, rolling garage bassline, dreamy keys and pads, the “s” man crafted a timeless piece of dance music that still inspires today and is often imitated yet obviously never bettered! a side is the remix version featuring jasmine on vocals, while the b side is the sought after “in deep mix” from the original 12”. as with all our ny house classics, first time available on 7”.

crushed by its own supermassive weight, ‘gravity well’ then condenses escape earth’s love of jungle and hardcore into a 128bpm stepper of rumbling low-end, polyrhythmic beats and otherworldly melody.

a heart from your shadow is the debut collaborative lp from michael beharie (new york) and teddy rankin-parker (chicago). since graduating together from oberlin college, beharie and rankin-parker each veered into markedly different avenues. beharie joined up with the ever-confounding new york ensemble zs (northern spy, the social registry). rankin-parker became an on-demand cellist for his prowess in the work of improvisation and avant-garde music, lending his talents to a wide array of collaborators such as primus, iron & wine, steve reich, and pauline oliveros. rather than jump into stream-of-concious improvisation, beharie and rankin-parker chose to focus the albums themes via intricately composed pieces. a heart from your shadow could be described as protest music, brimming with intense energy, harrowing anxiety, and steadfast optimism. produced by michael beharie, mixed carefully by jim o rourke, mastered by james plotkin and cut to lp at d&m berlin. black virgin vinyl housed in poly-lined inner sleeve in reverse board-printed double-width spine jacket with spot uv finishing. first pressing of 300 copies.

philippe cohen solal (of gotan project) celebrates the 50th anniversary of summer of love, covering one of its anthems “aquarius / let the sunshine in” of hair the musical which premiered on stage in october 1967. a complex but soothing modern reggae moombathon riddim carried by the ethereal harmonies of legendary jamaican reggae singer horace andy (massive attack, skylarking, ain’t no sunshine...) with a delivering coda sung by an empowering choir.
¡ya basta! records asked two legends of the underground scene, somewhat connected to the spirituality of the song, to remix this take. first with an afro house / deep-house take of the master of the genre @boddhi-satva, and jack of all trades, mashup virtuoso @jstar-1 (remixer of major lazer / dj vadim...) for a retro catchy drum n bass/uk bass remix. finally lazy flow and face-t deliver a dancehall filler of a remix.

the result of nine months locked up with musicians stephane fedele (bass), thomas stadnicki (guitars), lukas melville (drums) and a series of live shows in belgium, second album ‘drape’ fuses the electronic with an occasionally heavy rock feel and outstanding lyrics, all topped off with a french-belgian-tinged vocal and lyrical topicality. music-wise it spans a breadth of influences from the interzone between post-punk, indie pop, psych & noise while geoffroy mugwump lays down conscious, parlando-style, lyrics over nine songs ‘soundtracking our torments in the age of laissez-faire and aestheticisation’.

zuli’s new offering trigger finger is a game of shadowy atmospheres and unquiet spirits. it functions as a spacial and temporal compactor, using sampling and field recordings to reconstruct reality’s dissonance, while at the same time reverse its own introspective character into bass weight and outworked tension. a kind of extremization of zuli’s own roots as a beatmaker for the cairo rap scene, tinged with the clandestine and delirious urbanism of grime and jungle, and fronted by the necessity to face its own dark side. but the dark and crusty sonic palette does not limit the possibility for the tracks to display various layers of emotional content.

with this new release, parisian soul unveils a classic from montana production reworked with a new keyboard bass line of their own, four movements and an original deep house ending of their own creation to softly end a mix. face b revives a scarce track from hip-hop disco with a massive and prodigious beat to set clubbers on fire.

next out on the ownlife imprint, a remix ep of what so far has been one of the most acclaimed releases from the label, the collaboration between leiras and svreca titled “the bridges i burn”. four well-known names to the electronic music scene has been invited to infuse their own characteristic sound onto the original tracks of own009. first out covering the a side is spanish reeko who skilfully plays with the rhythm tones, the main bleep synth sounds and his unique and particular way of texturizing the layers. a2, signed by british volte-face, gives the perfect balance between sounds and silence in a mysterious spaced out interpretation of “tilling ceramics”. flipping the record you will find new york veteran producer shawn o’sullivan under his 400ppm moniker, developing the structure of the track in a smooth way, melting the modular synthesis with the atmospheres found in the original version. last to contribute with his unlimited talent is swedish acronym, ho delivers an intense, tribalistic, spiral-maker remix, wrapping up this four tracker in the best possible way.

warm return once again… one of the most consistent and influential agencies to have operated in the 2000s, the collective continue to develop their original agency, events and record label, and things are heating up very nicely. following soul-arresting releases from elliot lion and face + heel comes this four-track odyssey from belfast’s lunar orbit rendezvous aka lor. ready for take-off?

the french in the 80s were not faint-hearted: as some threw themselves heart and soul into music or business, others wouldnt mind going bottomless to get themselves noticed. while bernard tapie soon realized his own fortune was rather to be found in business, many music-loving dreamers already imagined themselves in the sun, in an enchanting world made of funky rhythms and synthesizers.

“vain” marks the prodigal return of venezuelan artist carlos giffoni to the avant-electronic music scene he was instrumental in shaping with the seminal, hybridising no fun fest and no fun productions label, which was home to debut releases by oneohtrix point never and noveller, and classics from haswell and prurient during the late 00s to early part of this decade. carlos’ first new release in 6 years, “vain” was drawn from hundreds of hours of improvisations made at carlos malibu studio, the final lp describes a tumultuous narrative in affective abstract swells and pulsating rhythms that trigger curious sensations and emotions ever familiar to his variegated, extreme, yet essentially organic output.

with his solo project jesus is my son, gregory duby, a guitarist from the belgian black country, explores since 2005 another side of his expanded tastes in music. after years in noise-rock bands (the invisible frog, k-branding) both bands being under influence of metal and industrial music, jesus is my son is  clearly on the classical guitar side of things. except you can never forget and always feel the intensity of duby s heavier practice in the soft and peaceful innocence , sometimes in its almost threatening tension, sometimes in its profoundly melancholic relief. on the b-side, insouciance has an oriental feel to it, a lighter face: recklessness after a crash or smiling distraction before a tempest.

it also gave us a beguiling lp that keeps on giving, exciting and inspiring over a year later. proof can be found in these three superlative remixes. subversive berlin duo otto take the lead with a warm, arabic twist on the album opener bonnie says by lifting the groove with a little organ-squeezing spring while maintain its faraway haze and mystique. accurately hyped romanian-also-in-berlin borusiade follows with an overwhelming floor-ready update on have i told you. already a familiar face with the label, she weaves a chasm-like new-wave narrative that sucks you deep into the mix and galvanises the pundit attention shes getting right now. finally mannequin records founder alessandro adriani joins the party with a tunnelling twist on the somnambulant aesthetic of valium. flipping the dreams for a much darker 3am reality, it will leave your dancefloor pining for more. dont worry, theres plenty more to come. dischi autunno are only just warming up.

a project 18 months in the making, marcel fengler presents a imf10, a three part compilation series detailing the past, present and future of his label index marcel fengler. part 2 focuses on the warmer and more soulful side of imf and features an outstanding array of artists making their debut for the label, all of which have a strong personal meaning to fengler. there’s fjaak, the exciting berlin trio he admires for their authentic identity and honest sound, a special shed remix of the enigmatic vril whose timeless productions continue to strike a chord with him, good friend eric cloutier who he has long wanted to get involved in imf and of course long-time label champion thomas hessler. viennas arthur robert a new face marcel discovered after he sent him tracks over facebook contributes a beautiful shimmering work to the compilation. highlighting this section of the project is the first azur track marcels new side project. he explains: ive always liked to be diverse with my music, but i also do’t want to confuse people. this is the reason why i decided to give my melodic side its own identity. my music under the marcel fengler name will go back to its roots and be more raw and rough in production terms. the final digital package will be complemented by a dj mix from thomas hessler comprised of tracks from imf10. stay tuned for parts 3 to follow, which includes originals and remixes by marcel fengler, sebastian kramer (aka redshape), luke slater, peter van hoesen and more.

recorded in philadelphia in 1969, the deirdre wilson tabac’s sole album is a beautiful blend of funk, jazz and soulful pop. possessing the complex grooves, thrilling breaks and ethereal weirdness that the rotary connection pedalled so brilliantly, the lp failed to connect with audiences upon its original release.
in the decades since, it has deservedly attracted a considerable cult following. however, almost inevitably, it has become increasingly tricky to pick up a copy in good condition for anything less than eye-watering sums. as such, we’re delighted to present the first officially licensed vinyl reissue of this undoubted masterpiece of freaky funk-rock, limited to just 500 copies.

various artists including buttechno, broshuda, garrett david, steven warwick and more... each track was composed with the theme of apophenia in mind (the tendency to perceive connections and meaning between unrelated things), keeping a foot between club and experimental material. this record is a complement to a contemporary exhibition in berlin and a 122 pages book.

standard pressing on black double vinyl, housed in a gatefold sleeve with download code included. ryan lee west aka rival consoles presents his expressive new album ‘persona’, set for release via erased tapes. the title ‘persona’ was inspired by ingmar bergman’s film of the same name, specifically a shot in the opening credits of a child reaching out to touch a woman’s face on a screen, which is shifting between one face and another. this powerful image struck ryan and it inspired the album’s main theme — an exploration of the persona, the difference between how we see ourselves and how others see us, the spaces in between, between states, people, light and dark, the inner persona and the outer persona.

as a polychrome composer, laurent perrier is developing his work through a large number of projects which, although they often share many common points, are all built on a strong identity. thus, zonk t has always been a way of exploring the most ambient fringes of dub, and the transition from the all-digital to compositions made entirely on modular synthesizers has overall not changed its approach in depth. yet, banburismus, whose unlikely title comes from the crypto-analytical process developed by alan turing during the second world war, begins by taking us by surprise with a long luminescent drone that seems to rise endlessly before dissolving little by little in a wall of echoes, glitches and distorted voices then make way to round and deep basses disturbed by metal peaks on which float distant blips, like farway echoes of the secret messages decoded by turing. real master stroke, this track occupying the first face of the lp is a trip in an ether much more populated than it seems. shorter, the three pieces of the b side participate in the same atmosphere, but still extend the sonic field. more stripped, more airy, more cosmic, banburismus achieves there new heights with ease. we could be tempted to play the game of references and try to put zonk t somewhere amongst the great experimenters of electronic dub. but who cares,, banburismus is well beyond categories, and laurent perrier, by cracking the code, opens for us the doors of a universe of disturbing and fascinating vastness.
