tokyo based dj/producer tsuyoshi ogawa presents -seven samurai-. this vinyl-only label has been founded in 2018 and it is operating in tokyo, japan. it pays tribute to the japanese legendary movie director -akira kurosawa-. this 2nd ep inspired by the movie -the hidden forest-. 1st track himatsuri by tsuyoshi ogawa that recorded using the voice sample of yuki s song from the movie and this song based old japanese poem book -kangin collection- in 1518, the impressive phrase -think it over - how dark this world is - the floating world is no less than a dream - just go crazy - will be brought to us as a universal theme to this day. 2nd track hitomi s temple by paris samurai vida, he recorded using sound of japanese koto, samurai sword and samurai voice to respect japanese traditional manner. it s a japanese satellite like a spiritual space temple, because the track bring you from paris to japan to space. this ep is dedicated to akira kurosawa as a new spiritual soundtrack for the hidden forest.

tokyo based dj/producer tsuyoshi ogawa presents -seven samurai-. this vinyl-only label has been founded in 2018 and it is operating in tokyo, japan. it pays tribute to the japanese legendary movie director -akira kurosawa-. therefore, the name of the label comes from his film -seven samurai- and the tracks on the vinyl have been recorded using sound effects from the original movie s scenes. -seven samurai 001- is the memorable first ep produced by tsuyoshi ogawa. the 1st track, -seven samurai-, was recorded using the voice sample from the movie -seven samurai- by akira kurosawa: -everything s riding on this battle!-, which brings us a sign of the start of the samurai battle. here, the 2nd track -shadow enemy-, expresses the fear and tension of invisible enemies, whereas the 3rd track -kannon soleil- leads to the end of the battle by buddha who comes from the sky. this ep is dedicated to kurosawa as a new spiritual soundtrack for seven samurai.

the debut homemade weapons lp ‘negative space’ is still fresh in peoples playlists after a unanimously acclaimed release, and has gone on to be used as a benchmark for d&b lp’s that exist on the edges of the music’s periphery. combining function and form with equal emphasis, negative space is an lp full of tracks that dj’s play in clubs as opposed to being largely relegated to online mixes. to follow on from the lp, we selected 3 samurai artists to rebuild their favourite tracks from negative space and have combined this with a tidal track vip from homemade weapons made initially for his dj sets. ancestral voices, the untouchables, and sam kdc all turn in unique interpretations.

divination is the second lp to come from liam blackburns ancestral voices project. where his debut lp night of visions, reconstructed his rhythmic approach into a primal framework, divination sheds the beats almost entirely and focuses on soaring drones and liams refined approach to ambience. there is moments of tempered elation (revelation, inscriptions, cleromancy), contrasted with black hole soundtracks (geomancy, hieratic) with the overall feel of divination becoming a gently traversing voyage through a revolving mood-scape. with divination following more beat oriented ep’s for samurai music and horo, liam redefines the sound of ancestral voices with every release.divination is a glistening example of the singular voice he provides to electronic music.divination is pressed on crisp white vinyl 3x12inch housed in a deluxe full artwork sleeve with spot varnished runes exclusive to the lp version.

&#8203,,one of the foundation artists on samurai horo, asc is an essential part of the labels rebirth with the ’geocentric systems’ ep. taking the grey area sound into heavier, darker territory, ‘aphelion’ and ‘perihelion’ formed the core of this ep with their fervent bpm trickery. these tracks are techno rebuilt with dizzying sensory loss, adding a weightless intensity that feels like a constant attack. ’passel’ and ‘geocentric systems’ offer a dubbed out version of the approach, heavy on the intricate sound design that has become the asc trademark.

the fourth and final sampler for the way of the samurai represents the full stylistic diversity of the label samurai music. hobzee & zyon base were asked to design a tune specifically for this project and when 1000 paper cranes arrived in the inbox it was obvious they had a very firm grasp on the sound the label was looking for. fluid, gliding vibes and a subtle sexy vocal ease the tune into its rhythm. the breaks and bass provide a step reminiscent of photek to the eastern sonics that unwind themselves around the rhythm.
