limited repress! following up the debut release from altitude, vade mecum returns with an ep on the limited 10inch series with another legend in the dub techno world - merv. they became notorious after some releases in the second half of the 90s, which included two tracks that are now considered dub techno classics: >dust< and >melted vein<. the copenhagen based duo are back in the studio for a couple of years, after almost 2 decades of silence. since then, they already relased some quality new material on top labels from the scene, and we are absolutely delighted and excited to have them onboard.

ltd repress! by now, chicago s home of the ghetto house movement, dance mania, should need no introduction! if you didn t already know, they are the original purveyors of that hard-ass, stripped back, tough, hitting electronic funk, they ve never held back with their output. operating since the late 80 s the label has gained legions of fans over 2 decades as well as a certain notoriety and one of their most well-known artists has got to be the legendary dj deeon and his various production pseudonyms! this, the second in a series of samplers focusses on some of his unreleased cuts, rarities and classics from the dm catalogue. kicking things off with the demented over-sexed jacking off of da dik suk this ep shows you what s up from the jump. lifted off 1996 s freak like me ep this is vintage deeon to the core! this is followed up with the minimal, acidic runnings of 1112 , from deeon s 1996 chop shop release, a wigged out, simplistic groove that just won t stop. classic chicago weirdness that simply just slams. the frenetic phenomenon opens up side b, produced under his mute pseudonym and originally released in 1997 this is a sure-fire rarity from the dm vaults. a tough one to track down and a real essential under the radar cut. also featured is the wild acid of playground productionz the box , here in unreleased (!) rare remixed form by another chi-town legend - paul johnson. top shelf business. last but certainly not least is another playground jammer in the form of the killer vertigo lifted off the same ep from 1994 which is surely enough to whet even the toughest of appetites. file under jackin . every track on here has been remastered and repressed with the full consent and involvement of dj deeon and parris mitchell, selected and programmed from deeon s private archives and dat tapes for above board, london. 100% hater free.

its time to deliver the second ep from adana twins latest mix compilation and with this one we set the focus to the more organic and off kilter leanings from lehar, sbth, acid pauli, musumeci and stereocalypse. kicking things off is italys lehar with his super slick ‘blue wolf where robust percussions culminate in a potent groove laying the foundation for lush sonic melodies that transport you into uniquely sublime spaces. sbth follows with the exceptionally unique ‘4w1r6 where they forgo the standard four-to-the-floor approach and employ a distinguished and uncommonly unique 3/4 time signature to full effect creating a swelling and brooding number assuring a definite, clear memory long after it ends. flipping to the b-side we see the renowned acid pauli in top form as he relies heavily on thick organic percussion and plush musicality with his ‘greetings from orgonon before switching gears as musumeci delivers a stunner with ‘invaders where past meets present as disco, techno and house all meet in one harmonious culmination. to round out the ep, stereocalypses ‘jubeelee! is an expertly crafted venture into the modern techniques of infectious afro-house concluding an extremely well rounded ep showcasing the diversity of adana twins selection and diversity.

yama music return with their second instalment on their own self-titled label, with yet more trippy minimal house music. as with the first record, yama music 002 brings 3 original cuts which are stripped back groove aimed at the dancefloor. the uk based label kick things off with “outstore”, eerie pads sit on top of tight stripped back drums which have a glitchy atmospheric synth adding to the cosmic feel of this record. the b side are two tracks that follow a similar pattern but retain their individuality. the first of these is “who what space”, this track is propelled along with a bone shaking yet infectious bassline, crisp percussion and an otherworldly synth. “who what toms” wraps up the ep with delicate shuffling percussion, a tight kick drum and a sexy bassline ready to make the dancefloor hum. a well placed vocal and a synth that sounds like it’s taken from the starship enterprise rounds off a great return for yama music.

comes with a huge 22x28 newprint poster in japanese sealed poly sleeve. chicago s beau wanzer returns to the label with his signature sound of crunched out bizarro electronics. tip! unmistakenly, wanzer has carved his own niche through the years as this ep rightly reflects the vast range of styles he works in. from the hypnotic head nod of wick hunny to the juicy back alley electro wave of the grim whim or the nasty metallic stomp of he spilled my drink we get wanzer in top freak form, mangling the drum machines and pushing the synths to the edge. a welcome return to say the least.

this newest installment of the ongoin series presents four very different hardspace mixes, each one of which allowing a different shade of len fakis musical guise to shine through. on guidance a quick-paced bounce grooves on top of a three-note bassline, suspenseful strings and sensous vox giving the track an unsuspectedly burning itch. equally smacking, yet both tribal and technoid is his rework of f.e.x‘s never give up, which keeps breaking down in order for the slicing hats to come back in and do their magic. tackling a current uk-techno-favorite on the flip, randomer & cadans‘ anchor has got a grimey grind to it, which here gets churned into an even more wicked version of a twisted trip down the rabbit hole. closing the ep out on a bleeping note, ribé‘s outlines is a deep-spacious, echo-laden affair, oscillating in tune and zoning alongside skitting percussives. as with all releases of lf rmx, the proceeds of this record will be forwarded to the berlin organization straßenkinder e.v. to be used in actions against child poverty.

following the success of the first treasure dub album, a second volume was hastily assembled. repeating the formula of the previous collection, the set featured 12 hard and heavy dub tracks that utilised some of duke reid’s most celebrated rock steady and reggae rhythms. as with volume 1, the musicianship from tommy mccook & the supersonics and mixing skills of ace treasure isle studio sound engineer, errol brown combined to create one of the finest dub lps of the mid-1970s.

german producer and dj boys noize has announced the release of his much-anticipated cover version of adamski and seal’s 1990 rave classic ‘killer’ on 12&#8243, vinyl, via the vinyl factory and boysnoize records. featuring vocalist steven a. clark, the original 12&#8243, version is backed by an instrumental, both of which you can listen to below: as boys noize says: “being a ’90s kid i kind of grew up with this song which later became one of these tunes i’d play out at the end of the night. when i met steven and heard his voice for the first time i immediately thought of that track and the idea of doing a cover version was born. it was initially just for fun but it turned banging and lit the dance floors wherever i’d drop it.” adamski and seal’s original represented something of a breakthrough for both the producer and vocalist, spending four weeks at the top of the uk singles chart in the summer of 1990. speaking to journalist dave simpson in the guardian in 2013 seal explains the impact the song had on his career: “within a week, i went from being a relative nobody – this weird guy at raves, with silver bits in my hair – to a household name.” boys noize’ ‘killer’ is out now on 12&#8243, vinyl, limited to 500 copies.

making his return to the label after last year s springtime favorite, everlast, is dorsi plantar. better listen s twelfth entry in the main run marks their first repeat of an artist, and the copenhagen man does not disappoint. tack farsan is a balanced sample-driven ep intended to milk the last of summer s flavors for the dancefloors enjoyment. the top side hosts sunny disco affairs in the release s title track, and a polished collab with label mate sune. the logo side, on the other hand, explodes into deep latin affairs.

hekla’s music exists singularly. a one-off talent, emerging from no particular scene, ascribing to no particular rules.
as a creative tool, the theremin - bizarre, unique, and rarely heard - can be expressive, intuitive and highly adaptable. in hekla’s hands, her instrument covers an enormous range, from skittering birdsong of high frequency chirrups and chirps, to grinding, tectonic sub-bass. we are given the throbbing, apocalyptic dread of muddle and the baroque beauty of traditional icelandic hymn “heyr himna smi&#8706,,ur” in sequential tracks on the album’s a-side. appropriately, she also writes that the album title - Á - is similarly multifaceted in her native icelandic: “a river is an á and also it means ouch like when you hurt yourself, and also when you put something on top of something you put it á (on) something.”

flevans returns with a killer 45 for the funky dancefloor! leading the way is “who’s got me” - an up tempo disco/boogie cut with more slap bass than a clone army of larry grahams… it’s a tasty dancefloor number with a big top line from none other than laura vane (mj cole, gnarls barkley, laura vane and the vipertones) who absolutely owns the vocal duties as anyone who is familiar with her work would expect. oooh weee!
over on the other side we have more classic-sounding flevans material with the party starting funk breaks of “take your money”. his signature jazzy keyboard and guitar licks converse with cheeky vocal samples all flying in and out of this slick production in a delightful fashion. it’s all about the beats on this one – it’s a guaranteed foot mover!

33 years after it s first release rick clarke s street soul simmerdown on local records, love with a stranger gets a much welcomed official reissue, remastered from the original tapes. check the dub! just peep that og artwork to get a taste of how this one s about to go down. written and produced by john collins, known for producing the specials - ghost town , love with a stranger perfectly encapsulates that 80s street soul sound. distinctly soulful, synthy slow jams, heavy on the bass with a touch of the low-slung, lovers rock vibrations about them. rick clarke s sultry sweet nothings weave their way irresistibly through this five minute gem, but for those that want to provide their own rendition over the top, the dub has been affectionately cut to the flip.

in the 80s, a nigerian dj named hycentto junior was notorious for making onitsha people dance on his grooves. soon, influenced by u.s hip-hop artists, he began rapping on top of the music he played. his eccentric style drew the attention of the biggest name, and the famous nkono teles decided to work with him on his next lp, mama groove. their project was released in 1991. due to unfortunate circumstances, the number of copies available was really low, making it very hard to find. more than 25 years later, working for a motor company, hycentto met online with french music passionate collective “lorem ipsum”, that had randomly found his mama groove lp. the result is a reissue auditioning all the 1991 mama groove’s tracks and two bonuses selected from his first 1984 album, at a party last night. the unique variety of sounds and genres, covering electro hip-hop, digi reggae and disco-funk, will carry you from poolside to late night dancefloors!

there is no elsewhere is haiku salut’s third album and sees the acclaimed trio from derbyshire continue their distinctive re-imagining of dreampop and rural electronica. influenced by the evocative film soundtracks of yann tiersen and benoît charest, the genre-melting electronica of early múm, and the impressionistic writing of haruki murakami, the band have previously released two critically acclaimed albums whilst last year they collaborated with public service broadcasting on the track “they gave me a lamp”, which featured on the psb’s top five album, every valley. yet it is this release that sees the band finally find their place, both musically and politically.
