THE CLASSIC MUSIC COMPANY PRESENTS NOUVEAU CHICAGO
12 Inch 22.10.21
steeped in house history it was only a matter of time until the next next generation of chicago house artist came to the forefront of the genre. luckily were friends with them. classic music company presents chicago nouveaux brings together the new-breed collective of exceptionally talented chicago-based artists on a single release. shaun j wright & alinka contribute wangs on broadway and ‘matters of the heart, the latter coming with a remix courtesy of smart bar’s own the black madonna while chrissy drops join me with miles bonny on vocals, complete with a re-edit for the one & only rahaan. this is about as chi as it gets.
small great tunes vol.1 is varied and offers a traveling dj multiple vibes to choose from. the energy on this new record takes off within the few first bars. the opening track >sport casino< by kid simius introduces a lighthearted mood and 80s synthesizers. peter lcs >sogni dinfanzia< is very likely to become the next lofi-house classic on disco dancefloors around the world. dreamy and melancholic but groovy nevertheless. the b1 track >kamal<, a collab between david silver & luca olivotto is a tasty house mood. the tune features a powerful and groovy bassline and sparkling synth leads all accompanied by rhythmic piano chords. b2 is similar to a2 in the way that its also a lofi-house track with nostalgic moods and careful sound design. with each side of the record featuring both a sunnier and a moodier track, the ep is a perfect fit for summer sets in a heated club or leisurely listening sessions on late afternoons enticing the listener to let go and bringing back memories that have yet to be created.
the 3rd release from audition goes further into the sci-fi sound he is renowned for. >irrational< invites you into a paranoid trance with its relentless synth line that seems to want to haunt you forever. next up is >tense< which, as the title suggests, creates a hard-hitting tension throughout the track supported by heavy syncopated rhythm. the ep ends with >rumours< a beatless, brooding track that feels like you re entering a never-ending black hole.
