ldr returns with the labels first various artists release, four house expressions - from four cutting edge producers. dublin based italian producer, lerosa opens the ep with longing…a warm, proficiently produced electronic house cut as always from the adopted dubliner. smooth percussion and synth sounds layered and arranged to perfection while still keeping that free-flowing lerosa style. rotterdams mark du mosch delivers an uplifting house / techno influenced workout blessings. refined percussion and wonderful space-synth soundscapes alongside a driving bassline that will get the dancefloor moving for sure! glaswegian meschi debuts with concrete island , the london based producer delivers a blissful deep house track. a laidback rhythmical production that just gets better and better throughout, with clever arrangements of elements including a classic voice sample and a soothing and delicate piano line. wicklows automatic tasty concludes the ep with another killer analogue jam, 707 percussion, a railway raver-esque bassline, and ats trademark pads and synth melodies combine to make >welcome ohm luv< another classic from the machines of mr.tasty

don your deck shoes, carelessly knot your cashmere knit and slip into some chinos, chromeos electro-boogie duet hot mess ft. la roux is ready for action. comes with a remix from armand van helden as duck sauce
maya jane coles brand new ep on mobilee >beat faster< contains three tracks - beat faster, perfect imperfections & play the game, each packed with energy, hypnotic grooves and an original flare. maya draws influences from a very diverse range of musical sources, which is evident in this collection of excellent productions. we hope you enjoy this as much as we have been and we are looking forward to following mayas success!!
whilst the bpitch control >werkschau< cd showcases the label and its 12-year history in its entire stylistic breadth, the first single from this exceptional album is predominantly about one thing: dancing! thats why we are not settling for album track lengths her, the single release is packed full of extended versions - made by ellen allien, sascha funke and moderat.
desolat is happy to announce a new 12inch by giuseppe cennamo. born in naples, italy in 1980, giuseppe took to the turntables at age 13. following the legacy of fellow napolitanos like marco carola, danilo vigorito and davide squillace, he took the inspiration of classic house and melodic synths to build his own brand of tech. his tracks on several labels got a lot of peak time play and caught the ears of loco dice. fortuitously, after a break to clear his head, mr cennamo decided to take the inspiration of a loco dice dj set to create something specifically tailored for desolat, which resulted in this release.this particular slice of vinyl is aimed squarely at the djs - with the title track amanecer digging deep into the pads, a cantering kick and gentle swing that hints at detroit forefathers. cuando tu quieres stomps its heels and morphs into a very whimsical bouncing house burner: plenty of fun to be had with this one. dejame asi feels like a spaghetti western re-imagined with the help of a conical moving laser beam, a childrens choir and a bag full of kazoos while the rest of nothing is a reduced, pinocchio-like percussion-driven track with an insistent bassline
berlin based ed davenport & oliver deutschmann are both established producers in their own right. with a similar interest in urgent, atmospheric moments for the dancefloor, their first collaboration emerges. a proud and powerful statement of the pairs passion for techno, >trump< runs over ten minutes, focusing on a central, ethereal theme that resonates above a rigid wall of percussion. ibadan records boss and internationally respected electronic music figurehead jerome sydenham lays his hands to >trump< in his dynamic, accurate remix that draws us deep into his mechanic-organic sound. nyc based brendon moeller crafts a bass heavy, urgent >appliance< that honours the groove of the original and morphs it pleasingly into more spaced out zones
danny serrano is back on sphera with a slammin house tunecompleted with remixes from resident siwell and mister butch(greatstuff, cecille, noir, trapez, 100% pure).
sk supreme welcomes 2011 with a strong various artist sampler. labelhead sabb is getting remixed by rodriguez jr. (systematic, mobilee, leena, traum) and ntfo & chris special deliver pure dancefloor funk.
thomas fehlmann is integral to kompakt and the labels history. his solo releases and collaborative work with alex patterson as the orb have been some of the kompakts most revered and cherished tunes. following the success of his 2010 full length gute luft (a collection of re-edited versions from his score to the hit documentary 24hr berlin), we start 2011 off with titan one / dfm. on october 16, 2010 thomas fehlmann performed in montreal, canada at the historic molson coors brewery building together with members of the montreal symphony orchestra (osm). together they sought to recreate a version of gustav mahlers classic symphony no. 1 (titan). kompakt is proud to now offer a new recording inspired by that epic concert of symphonic and electronic with a new recording inspired from that performance – renamed as titan one. the hum of cellos and strings conjoin fehlmanns electronics – held together by the sublime, unobtrusive thump of a bass drum. titan one flows with a beauty and edacity that is rarely heard in both classical and electronic music form. the b-side features a new recording inspired from the second piece of the performance - a new version of thomas fehlmanns du fehlst mir from his 2006 kompakt full length visions of blah. reanimated as dfm, the piece again conjoins the different musical worlds in a way we have never heard to such a high standard. a much more upbeat affair than to titan one (of course) bass and keyboards mingle with the symphony the playfulness of the original song rolls throughout dfm. whether as palais schaumberg, the orb, or 3mb (to name only a few alias). fehlmann may have 3 decades of professional recordings under his belt but he continues to prove to the world as being one of the most fascinating and creatively open musicians in his field. this release clearly proves his story is far from over.
pop ambient returns. kompakts beloved series. this is our other arena of bliss, always curated and carefully compiled by label co-owner wolfgang voigt (aka gas). somber times call for more introspective sound scapes - >pop ambient 2011< continues its mission to slowly persuade its signature sound introduced over a decade ago. this year we see the series leaning towards a slightly darker complexion than its predecessors.
whats my name, the latest single from the bajan songstress rihanna, is not a cover of the clashs 1977 punk classic, but finds riri taking a detour from the dancefloor-scorching grooves of only girl to craft a steamier cut which draws its heat from her short-lived, but much-buzzed-about relationship with the t-dot heavyweight. here, the upbeat synth boardwork of stargate sets the stage for a heaping helping of innuendo from both collaborators, drizzy handles verse one, sing-rapping his way through a double-entendre-peppered opener (the square root of 69 is (eight/ate) something… right? cause i been tryin to work it out.), and rihanna responds in kind, lacing her verses and chorus with some playful come-ons of her own. digging this catchy ode to young love/lust? then be sure to grab a copy of this vinyl and the heavy remixes it has.
once again leng deliver with a lovely bit of heavy electronic stompery. tiagos >the source< goes straight for the dark end of the dancefloor and wallows in the smokey acidic enivirons of the late night moody corner ! with a punchy throbbing bass, hefty beats, tons of spacey effects and some awesome delayed hi hats to really mess your head, this is in the box for the strobe light moment. on side-b >mudds slow rave mix< turns up the acid a few notches, somehow gets even swampier in the bottom end and slightly more whacked out on the fx, add a lovely niggling synth line for a dark heavy dancefloor work out.
need to warm up? want to dance and you love house music? then your gonna to love this track. david guettas ability to supply a proper dance-pop stonker again evident with whos that chick. feel the adrenaline / moving under my skin / its an addiction, the barbadian songbird rihanna hollers over bolshy beats and swaggering synths, the studio trickery on her nonchalant vocals feeling colder than an ice pop on a snowy day. its a good job, then, that bopping along to this - and warming yourself up in the process - is pretty much impossible to resist.
southern florida, 1984. the sonarphonic sound was pioneered by james mccauley aka maggotron / dxj / basstech. originally produced for bound sound records in 1984, this is one of the earliest and rarest recordings from mccauley and marks the beginning of the underground miami bass electro movement. in the following years he recorded hundreds of tracks including >the bass that ate miami<, >temple of boom<, and >attack on the planet of bass<. maggotron is still active in the genre and is currently working on a new album. if you are unfamiliar with mccauleys musical adventure, let the sonarphonic be your guide. tip!!
one would be curious as to what a track such as this one would sound like. images and visuals floating through your head as you press play, the airy, angelic pad intro induces you into a trance-like state before soothing piano lines and a pitched-up vocal reminiscent of the early hardcore era takes you away. as the drums come in with a half-time feel, it is easy to imagine japanese taiko drummers playing their part. once the break takes hold, a short span of melodic heaven uplifts before the drums take control again.
aardvarck comes with >gloom<, an offshoot of his highly successful >bloom< imprint. >gloom< is the second split effort between aardvarck and dutch beatmaster kubus (opgezwolle, top notch). it features aardvarck on an oldschool techno vibe with deep and greasy beats plus his signature style breaks. on the flipside kubus delivers three insanely loud and bass heavy bangers. limited white label!
its not every day that we receive demos from new artists that totally rock our world, but when its happens its a joy and a reminder of why we are still doing this. and so tears of joy rolled onto the speakers when we played policys demos. when contacted policy he told us he is from nyc, is a part time movie director and only started making music recently. out of the bunch of tracks we received >specialty party< and >light over fort lee< form his debut ep. both tracks challenge the beat spectrum once again and definitely speak his cinematic mind. expect more music from policy on rush hour later this year. he surely is our contender for best newcomer of 2011.
cooltool is young sublabel of well-known russian highway records imprint run by rayo & mike spirit. for the debut cooltool release they engaged talented american-ukrainian duo technique & yaroslove. technique & yarosloves duo was formed in 2005 and since that time they released numerous eps on european labels and participated in such big events as kazantip republic. for cooltool records technique & yaroslove provided beautiful track >southwater<. completed with stunning remixes by patrick zigon (cocoon, puzzle traxx, highgrade) and alexkid (f communications, cadenza, rekids), >southwater ep< is perfect start for cooltool records - so this label is definitely worth to keep an eye on it.
italojohnson starts the new year punctual with his third stroke. this record will have something suitable on it for everyone out there. without batting an eyelid, its crosseyed and selfconfident, looking at three different floors at the same time: the a-side focuses on the chicago house floor. it begins with a recognizable toolish sound. slowely but surely the theme of the track opens – the track works through a breakdown, a classic drum roll sneaks in and jack grabs again. the b1 provides an unusual turn on the third italojohnson production. theres no space for compromises here. the track stomps on the steam engine warehouse floor. a flowing acid hookline is settled in the industrial drumline and gives the track its meaning. the second track on the flipside completes the whole package and is destined for the late night hours. thats everything there is to say about this track – the strength and emotion can only be experienced by listening first hand. love, peace and happiness
fresh from his massive cd for mau5trap, moguai goes more commercial with the massive get fresh on skint alongside the original we have the mighty x press 2 & dohr & mangold round things off... in memory of mel & kim and stock, aitken & waterman
we are happy to announce the first release from ultrastretch featuring nottingham-born and now london- based artist matthew burton. a – who loves yous short, sharp hats and robotesque samples build slowly and aloofly to what becomes a somehow familiar and nostalgically tinted style. it is in fact, sampled from the 1987s >the running man< soundtrack, originally composed by harold faltermeyer and picked and plucked apart by matthew burton to make it into his own. the epic synth riff melted with its strong kick and tightly sprung sound corners are eerie and atmospheric. >who loves you< resonates with all of us with its clear 80s feel thats been manipulated into a new and exciting piece of underground music from matthew burton. b – small winner takes us on another journey all together. a deceivingly kicky intro steers us into a combination of swooning orchestral brass and delicate jazzy piano keys who share their space with a crunchy and inviting rhythmic stride. its cleverly concocted instrumental experimentation lends its listeners ear towards the smooth ambience while the hypnotic beat keeps us subconsciously moving. dramatic pauses, a syncopated yet soothing orchestral fusion build >small winner< into an original and intriguing musical piece.
2010 was a great year for planet rhythm, solid releases from great artists and a lot of good feedback, airplay and reviews. many djs are happy to play the releases and the crowd reacts in the only proper way, just dancing and showing love. planet rhythm is standing for quality techno releases and will continue doing so for years to come. first up for 2011 is claudio ponticelli showing his look on the italian side of techno, enjoy and play it out loud as usual!
lowjac demonstrates his versatile sound and production style, on a unique debut vinyl only release, featuring an exceptional remix crafted by metrolux label boss xdb. limited copies. >frontal rainfall< is a sublime dub techno piece , subtly infused with organic textures, while its driving flow unravels into an acoustic journey of dreamy realms and atmospheric moods. >hatfield junk< drifts without warning to a futuristic hip-hop direction, triggered by offset beats, cosmic synths and cinematic samples easing into an unpredictable breakdown workout. xdbs b-side interpretation, through different dynamics, rhythmic arrangement and depth perspective, is an astounding display of his ability to elevate the original track to a world of sheer bliss.

fof kick off 2011 with a nod to the past in the form of justin drake (peace division) and kevin griffiths- (tsuba) -the devil-s eyes-, a deliciously grimy jackin- groove, coming on like a low slung mid 90s house production a la schatrax. we enlisted the talents of christopher rau for the first remix. as many of you know christopher has had an impressive 2010 culminating in his critically acclaimed lp -asper clouds- for the always excellent smallville label. chris cleverly uses elements of the original, intertwined them into an altogether quirkier, more optimistic deep house groove with a definite injection of -fun-: to round off the package, new talent bleak takes the reigns, providing a peak time techno stomper. bleak-s debut single will be released on hamburg imprint -sudden drop- sometime in early 2011 and promises to mark bleak out as a name to look out for.
