the eccentrics parties started some three years ago by will and mark, have been a monthly staple of the eclectic nightlife scene in peckham since its inception. the party has hosted many great guests over its three years, such as andi hanley, piers softrocks, toby tobias, phil mison, frank tope, bill brewster and many more. this 12inch is the culmination of mark and will saving their hard earned gig money so they can present the sound of eccentrics to a wider audience. these edits were put together along with another local hero sanky (a regular guest) whom has kindly provided the system edit and the artwork for the jacket.

the second volume of bushwick is melting features original unreleased material by brooklyn-based producers black meteoric star, lorna dune, and j. slusher. gavin russom apparently has a new black meteoric start lp on the way and we can t wait based on the epic, sweeping grandness that is the 18 minute a-side hogger unearthed arcana which is quite hypnotic when in full flight. the b-side finds lorna dune putting her experiments with the piano to one side to focus on some celestial house moves with reflux which will appeal to fans of legowelts more star gazing moments whilst the wonderfully named j. slusher closes out the record with the face melting techno cut night train

the *obsidian falls* ep from seattles josef gaard sits at a very fascinating but incredibly complimentary space between traditional techno tendencies and freeform ambient composition and experimentation. each track seamlessly references each other providing a straightforward sense of cohesion while maintaining a constant and aggressively progressive motion. the ep will guide and gently coerce the listener into experiencing a somewhat altered perspective on sonic and musical expression. without much notice the listener will effortlessly travel from point a to point c without realizing they have ever touched on point b.

sworn virgins is one of the many perverted projects from the blossoming mind of mutado pintado, legendary vocalist for paranoid london and save (the light was such a hit for us), head of warmduscher, general purveyor of chaos and diy videos. so this is all about rage and bits of broken down computer melted in tar, and this is probably our strongest release yet. we will let you look for what a sworn virgin actually is

the kestrel (turmfalke) will rise in spring 2015, starting the new label by matthias springer with focus on physical media. the philosophy behind is to invite friends to this special cross-over concept. every artist presents an original in combination with remixing eachother. in the end 4 tracks on one release, no special genre is preset, everything can happen. frank hellmond is the special guest on the first turmfalke release, bringing in his unique deephouse flavour that features some pretty nice vocals from snowflake, while matthias is turning it into a combination of dub and acid ... but just have a listen.

the second single from francis harris debut full length, leland contains three remixes of pharoah in the morning,one of the highlight tracks on the album featuring the phenomenal vocal talents of danish singer gry who performs here in here native tongue. two entirely distinctive remixes come courtesy of labelmate black light smoke and the other is by nsi., who should need no introduction. pharoah in the morning remixes will be out on limited edition vinyl from scissor and thread soon. look for leland in february 2012.

2014 was a great year for glenn astro, but appearances on dj kicks (brandt brauer frick) and brownswood among other labels, numerous remixes, and a string of beautifully-crafted eps already look set to be eclipsed in 2015. the essen-based producers collaboration ep with max graef will launch their new label money $ex records in january, while his debut lp is to follow on tartelet records in the spring

brian mcnasby aka heights, and rob paine aka worship, are bringing their track, teach dem dub, back home to worship recordings. the dub version of the track was originally released on the portland based label zamzam sounds on 45 vinyl, and it immediately sold out. teach dem dub will be released both digitally and on vinyl by worship, and packaged with three new interpretations of the single. since its release back in january 2014, the single gained a plethora of notoriety and was reviewed on mixmag.com in the month of march. mixmag scored the track a 9 out of 10 and commended heights + worship on constructing a piece of deepness that hasnt been heard in ages.

index marcel fengler unearths another berlin-forged gem with a debut release for somewhen. following an impressive pair of eps on his own sana imprint, label boss marcel fengler was quick to invite the newcomer to the imf family. following a pair of head turning performances on line-ups alongside fengler at his berghain home, the time has come for imf 05 to bring somewhens talents to wider attention.
a cut *dain* is a stripped down techno trip engineered for dancefloors at dawn: a siren call to the club’s most battle hardened heads, its subtle machinations will prove deadly in the right dj’s hands. over on the b-side, *aula* is the eps more unpredictable beast, its rougher rave edges rounded off by a rich bass synth and enigmatic vox pads that give the track an unsettling air as it nears its conclusion. xj closes the ep with an insistent slice of acid with somewhens own playful modern twist.

first up here is kenloto, a chunky bit of bass driven house with crisp perc. it builds to a nice tense peak with lots of loose, jumbled textures and will make for a fine bit of peak time listening. the other original is whack, which is another tough house cut with firm bass, old school new jersey snare patterns and rolling drums that are rich, warm and rubbery. miguel lobo s remix is a more spritely thing with lithe chords, colourful synths and and a pent up energy that just never stops giving. closing out the fantastic package is paul c & paulo martini who remix kenloto into a trippy affair with ghoulish voices, hard hitting drums and lots of dark wave energy that will carry you late into the night.

after the frenzy heat of miami, quantize keeps the fire coming with this release. neil pierce scorches the spring with a soulful groover that sizzles in lyrics & production. neil is on fire and on this release he teams with mike patos to re-introduce/re-produce a classic from mtume. seldom do you hear live bass (john turner) on dance records, and you will appreciate the authentic musical production in this. when you add in vanessa freemans effortless performance on this with vocals that demonstrate that she is the perfect vocalist to re-sing a classic, you are ready she sings of desire and of love with soulful class and delivery.

while it may seem as though it has been a quiet year in the studio for brooklyn-based dj/producer greg schappert (aka donor), his first full-length album entitled against all on chicago-based prosthetic pressings, will prove otherwise.

the globally trendsetting house and techno family that is visionquest now turns to a new pairing of sonny fodera & gene farris for their debut ep on the label. entitled ‘we work it’, the two-track affair comes with a remix by visionquest man lee curtiss. australian sonny fodera has been at the sharp end of the dance music scene for years now, clocking up huge hits both solo and with green velvet aka cajmere, releasing albums such as afterparties & aeroplanes and appearing on cajual, defected, suara and many more top labels. gene farris, of course, is a chicago house legend who has been active since the nineties, runs his own farris wheel label and has released close to one hundred definitive eps on relief, soma and many others. up first, ‘we work it’ is a lithe ritual of house funk with bent synths and slick mid tempo drums. a spoken word vocal snippet muses on the intake of various substances and the drums roll on infectiously below. it’s sure to be a standout anthem in the months to come given that vocal line and the spiritualness of the keys all around only adds to the effect. the first remix comes from lee curtiss. this one is a much quicker and more peak time bit of tech house with textured, dynamic bass and plenty of drum fills. it’s an involved, more cosmic and tense take on the original, that will build great pressure on the dance floor. all in all this is another on point package from visionquest that will get played far and wide

nebraska is someone who’s tracks we’ve been loving for a good few years now and finally managed to pin him down for a release here on delusions of grandeur. the uk producer is something of an enigma, and despite some amazing releases on rush hour still remains resolutely underground and seems to keep his releases to a minimum, focusing on keeping the quality high rather than flooding the market with average material. once again, he brings the real deal with three drum-heavy warehouse jams to nice-up the dancefloor. aw-right (mute version) sets the tone with a raw house groove that keeps things stripped to the bare minimum. a bouncing bassline and rattling percussion break help to define the track but it’s the dusty, dubby approach to the mix which really makes the track shine. next up we have warp and weft, a similar sounding track but by dropping the bpm’s nebraska has created a sublime low-slung, bumpy groove to really move to. flipping over we’re treated to the brilliant eighty eights which will have you nodding your head like the churchill’s dog before you can say ‘looped up piano and bass one bar groove repeated for over eight and a half minutes shouldn’t work should it?’
