lessismore record label, founded in 2003 by the dutch dj and producer alexis tyrel together with mbc, has been home for mostly his own releases under all his monikers and various artist compilations. �return to planet alpha� continues in this tradition, being a second long-player of alexis tyrel after his debut �newtradition� from 2011.
�return to planet alpha� is a collection of elegant techno tracks which instead of following the now so popular dark and destructive path focuses on daily moods and airy atmosphere, which is closer to open air and lounge than to sweaty pits of contemporary rave. but that doesn�t mean that the twelve tracks are just indistinctive background music. for one thing, tyrel is a master of slick and tight beat foundations of kick drums and bass, often smoothed out with cool synth pads, onto which he layers all kinds of rhythmical chains, subtle melodic ideas and sounds ranging from vintage synths and industrial bits to organic textures and even field recordings.

cold water, bad weather and a car packed with machines. best conditions to make a record. after two weeks, the reflections are three tracks, in three different ways but with many connections. the ep starts with �glowe� and technoid breakbeats, which are being controlled by heavy chords. �wiek� stays with the pattern of breaks but gets more emotional through various pads, which appear and suddenly disappear. on the b-side �spycker� finds his path, with the help of several percussive elements.

awake is a soundtrack for roaming around vast city landscapes between late night and early morning. a lone wolf observes the scenery and watches over people, their heads low, on the path home to sleep. inspired by 1980s movies, drone and video game soundtracks, rob orme aka submerse returns with an update to his signature sound.

it�s a match made in heaven, techno veteran dino sabatini meets up and coming talent luigi tozzi, who over the last couple of years has delivered stellar eps for the likes of hypnus records, dynamic reflection, mental modern, and sabatini�s own outis music. anyone familiar with the two will know they share an aptitude for adventurous and evolving techno. this is crystallised in this collaboration, which doesn�t take the easy path of creating straightforward club tracks. instead, the three tracks on this release explore the subtler sides of the two producers. that�s not to say this isn�t club music - it is - but they have a lot more to offer than pure functionality. the ep opens with manticora. this eight-minute experience takes the listener through winding claustrophobia as ringing feedback pulses across the stereo field and cavernous rhythms dance about, hard to quite grab. these rhythms build to a point to which they solidify and fall into place, a point at which the track gains a feeling of propulsion, alongside shifting and emotive reverberations and resonances. next up is celeno, a track that slowly unravels under a backing of shuffling hats and a rolling kick drum. twinkling synths swirl around before giving way to a rhythmic and compelling melody. celeno�s musical themes continue into the third and final track, aello, which eases you in with softer drums while a haunting drone builds up. over this, ghostly arpeggios develop alongside weightier drums that carry the track through until the end, leaving just enough time for the drone to ring out and provide a fitting end to the ep.

bitter end emerge from the ashes of 2016 with a message of positivity and protest beamed from the near future keen eyed aficionado s may spot the homage to mel cheron s classic us label west end records here but while their motto may have been where the sun sets & the stars rise bitter end records embarks on a distinctly more 21st century path to dancefloor salvation... 003 sees a welcome return to utilising the full sonic reach of the 12- single, with these two 21st century power-dancers for strobe-lit moments of praise. can t stop explores a walter gibbons approach to teasing a groove to within an inch of its life, and what a groove. the disco at the end of the universe may well be beaming this one up, such is its sheer intergalactic and unrelenting bad assery. we recently witnessed this unite a dancefloor in such wild abandon it should come with an age restriction ! flip for fat of the land a gorgeous and utterly absorbing, stripped back modern hymn the bitter end - years ahead !

the next cosmos release comes from salomon dunkan, a mysterious and unknown producer who serves up two tantalising tracks... . android (adamantium mix) is a slow and percolating house track with a rugged acid line and sharp percussive knives cutting up the rubbery kick drums below. swirling pads add a cosmic atmosphere and there whole hits slowly but surely builds to a raging and intense peak of bristling hits and gurgling synths. it s controlled chaos and then tacchi a spillo treads a more direct path. again the high hats are bright and sharp, the mood is very sci-fi and the bass lines rumbled down low. like a deep space odyssey this one travels far and wide and grows ever more physical and jacking as it goes on.

jasss is an outstanding sound artist and dj (playing resident at the mannequin records night in berlin). raw and pure, she returns with an instant-classic second single for death of the machines. es complicado is a percussive a-side driven track, a passionate industrial/futuristic wink to the past, while �no chanche� on the b side is opening a new path for her productions. the mind sick samples from the 1966 bergmans masterpiece persona leave the track - as the movie itself does - in a climax wrapped by a variety of interpretations, moving from tribal new beat rhythms and ending into an acid nightmare. tip!

we ve all been there, spending endless hours searching, listening, skipping thru tracks and trying to find at least one good one. no more. we ve made it easy for you... tune is all about that one track, the track that will bring the heat. no remixes, radio edits or excess dubs. it s all very simple, one track, one really awesome tune. that s all. the plot thickens, who is theo walbeck?? but maybe it s not that important, after all the music is the key figure and speaks for itself. this is theo s follow up to freek tool which was one of disclosures most played tracks in 2016 and goes down a similar path. in our humble opinion this is an even stronger track and something that is just waiting to get some heavy isolator action. someone 2night got that dark and vintage warehouse feel mixed up with some soulful cut up vocals and lush strings that is just perfect to drop at peak hour. those rumbling drums will cause some serious damage...believe dat!

born marco sterk, he certainly doesnt come from a standard dj background. a former skate rat who grew up loving american post-hardcore and 90s hip-hop as much as early warp records, hes been affiliated over the years with amsterdam institutions such as rush hour, red light records (where you ll find him most weekdays!) and, of course, dekmantel itself. still, thers no question that hes always followed his own path, even during the years that playing his favorite records meant that he was occasionally clearing dancefloors

dj bone is differ-ent. but then again, he always has been. a pioneer dj and producer hailing from detroit, whose technical skills are perhaps only equalled by the upper echelons of the city s most advanced techno trailblazers, he s nonetheless forged a path only of his own. eschewing commercial expectations, scene pressures and anything other than his own exquisite taste, bone has earned a vital, dedicated audience while remaining comfortably and individually underground.

for the fourth release shaw cuts lines up five shaolin commanders who created their own interpretations of farrons death duel ep: marco zenker, russian duo poima, roger 23 and simo cell. these heavies form the shelter clan whose mission is to cover ah chis back wherever he goes. marco zenker gives we dont make no sense his signature machine funk that decimates challengers in one swing. ah chi can always count on marcos sword. poima from moscow rival with sabers, severing those who dare to cross their path. their version of tangency is lead by a dirty break-beat drum combo blazoned by cosmic synth melodies and warm machine derangement. centro on the b-side gets heavily grimed by veteran roger 23 whose axe is as heavy as his remix style in general. beware of roger! armed with tonfas, simo cell layers par 2 with a complex and fresh-sounding groove, causing lethal devastation to enemy combatants. ah chi is well-shielded by his companions and still unbeaten to this day. trust in the shelter clan!

it is a big temptation - whilst striving to place oneself on the map - to favour and repeat established structures and norms in order to gain fortune, fame and power. to cripple a work of art under pressure of commercial success and to trade the uniqueness of a creative spark for an egoistic idea means using a calculating mind to overrule art and emotions. but this pulse of an artist is not his mind but his heart with which he exposes his energy and vibration through frequencies. for this reason there is only one way which retains the creation in its innocent spontaneous form in order to stay true to its inspirational core. the path of resistance!
