2018 new years deal - following up on the long awaited -melody- / -stop fantasy- reissue from 2016, mothball record returns with a lesser known, but no less brilliant, double-sided disco bomb from plustwo. lighthearted and infectious melodies on both sides are matched with superb production and unmistakably beautiful vocals: this is no fast food but elegant music to enjoy for years to come. for years a favorite in the mothball record offices, yet strangely unknown by many, -mad radio- and -new sensation- will put some unexpected spark in your next disco set.

already heavy hitters on the house music scene since their first releases back in 2012, waze & odyssey continue to carve out club burners with such ease, and their first release of 2017 finds a suitably fitting home on edible. the duo of firas waez and serge santiago have seemingly not put one step wrong in their ascendency within the house music circuit. be it releases for labels like wolf music, elrow or their own w&o street tracks, or remixes for the likes of disclosure, totally enormous extinct dinosaur and metronomy, w&o have found that knack of delivering sure fire winners time after time. already a staple in label boss eats everything�s dj sets, �down with tha� has all the hallmarks of a bona fide club classic, if the hyperactive drums and looping vocal refrain doesn�t draw you in enough, then the downright funky bass lick that prominently packs a punch really provides the killer hook. the, quite frankly, face melting breakdown surely seals the deal, and we are anticipating this cut to ring out loud across dancefloors over the coming weeks and months. competently propping up the release, �seizure� goes on a spacey, bongo odyssey (geddit?), serving up a rolling, dubby drum workout that culminates in a rather impressive snare roll breakdown that�ll have you frothing at the mouth. snatches of female vox and whistles are dotted around the galloping jungle drums, whilst the elevating key chimes provide the perfect musical lift. another slice of completely freshhouse music from w&o!

new years deal - winds swirl on a cold night. rain pelts thin window panes. alone sits a figure. eyes are full, his heart hollowed. riccardi schola is the man behind these images. his debut 12inch, on my mind, is a foursome of bitter break-ups and lonesome evenings. piano keys conjure up tears, mascara streaking down cheeks as wine bottles roll empty on heavily carpeted floors. vocals speak of pain, love sick melodies supported by slender snares. new wave echoes weaved with italo emotion for an ep of synthesizer solitude.

the brainchild of the so-called fairy godmother of house� abigail adams, during the mid-80s and early 90s movin records defined the new jersey sound. a regular at the iconic roxy roller disco in new york, adams skate-shop-turned-record-store was instrumental in supplying club resident tony humphries with the hottest records that everybody wanted to dance to. danny krivit, larry levan and timmy regisford were also adams friends and regulars at the store.

a mainstay in the underground house music scene for almost twenty years, joeski makes his next move on the mighty crosstown rebels with a sublime �tribute ep� to the great divinity obatalá. the ep journeys through three tracks, where ethereal layers are used to infiltrate the dancefloor and varying tribal percussions, native chants and vocal haunts flow effortlessly throughout. from yoruba religion, obatalá is an orisha, sky father and creator of human bodies. joeski explains -i�ve been wanting to do this tribute for a while now. it�s a creative musical offering to obatalá. i feel like crosstown is the perfect home for it too.- joeski�s roots are in the underground house scene of nyc in the 90s, where he played regularly at historical clubs such as the limelight, tunnel, palladium and roxy. later establishing himself as a producer he began releasing music on nrk, siesta, shaboom, tango, junior boys own and many more. he also runs his successful label, maya records.

it really feels like we (aka mad mats & tooli) have been around way longer than 5 1/2 years with local talk, but it s really true what they say, time flies when you re having fun! from what started as a somewhat simple and almost primitive urge to create a small house imprint has now grown into a much bigger affair. we really tried hard to keep the label from getting stuck in any genre (remember 90s house?) and to always keep the local talk relevant, curious, diverse and with a healthy dose of underground mentality. from our very first release with bassfort s excellent moon shadow in the summer of 2011, we had a crystal clear vision of what local talk should represent... house music in any way, shape or form! over the years we released soulful, disco, jack, afro, vocal, deep, jazz, tech, latin, old school, acid, uk, berlin, new jersey, detroit and of course chicago inspired house music. if it made us bump...we put it out! this brings us up to today and about +80 releases later. we thought about how we best could sum up these first 5 1/2 years and immediately the image of blaze s classic album 25 years later popped up. besides the fact that it s an amazing album cover it also a good representation when different musical genres fuse together. it s not strictly a house album but just as well a r&b, reggae and soul album. this fusion and variation of house sounds is something that we ve tried to capture on our 5 1/2 years later compilation, split into two parts. on part 1 you ll find a dark bassline driven house jam from art of tones (check the mad sax!), a proper deep journey jam from nyc s dj spinna, a blaze homage with that classic new jersey sound from sean mccabe, and a bumpy world/jazz inspired cut straight outta brescia from wonder kid corrado bucci. all in all we think we got most angles covered and hopefully this album will make you spread that chalk on the dance floor and get down...local talk style!

consistently unearthing a hotbed of new talent, hot creations next release is back to the music from dj and producer sooney. the release features two original tracks and a stellar remix from one of the biggest names in dance music, route 94. title track back to the music is an exhilarating record shaped through melodic synths and keys alongside a sharp bassline. route 94 strips back his remix to the bare groove. while the chugging beats of afraid of the dark bring the release to an accomplished close. london based sooney fell in love with house, hardcore & jungle in the early 90 s. in 2015 he set up his own label, take control records, gaining support from the likes of shadow child, jamie jones and gorgon city to name a few. since being discovered by the hot creations family, sooney�s sights are firmly set on big things for 2017. fellow uk artist route 94 shot into the limelight in 2012 with chart success and has since gone on to appear on labels including virgin, defected and crosstown rebels, and work with major names like katy b and jess glynne.

public releases hits the lab for some aural alchemy and to turn out its first release of 2017. a four-tracker from moscow�s phil gerus, scenes�or, in the producer�s native russian, &#1089,&#1094,&#1077,&#1085,&#1099,�manages to have a makeup that�s both peculiar and magnetic. the title�s a fitting one, every track feels like a vignette in a collection of short stories. separately, they�re self-contained, but a rich narrative arch is added when they�re sewn together. if there is a theme here, it�s of viewing the future through the dusty lens of the past, and each of the songs explores this in its own fashion. the kick-off, �ohashi sky garden,� starts as a hyped-up italo space epic, pumped full of swirling synth licks and sharp, tight drums, but it mutates into something completely its own when vocal samples (90s r&b?) and warm keys (prog rock rhodes?) enter. after the original�s brisk five minutes, the legendary richard sen�graffiti guy, breaks guy, house guy, disco guy, half-of-padded-cell guy�steps in to give it a trance-y tinge while doubling its runtime and adding a dancefloor-destroying hi-nrg coloration. the b begins with �naha swim,� a crunchy funk foot-stomper that might as well be an unreleased idjut boys or ray mang ditty dug up from the noid catacombs. fiery and furious, yet utterly cheeky. serving as a sort of coda to �naha� is �kiss of a kind,� a gerus take on 80s adult contemporary, replete with sleazy sax and sensual pads. a gentle nightcap to a zigzagging, antic 12-inch
