claremont 56 has always had close links with japan’s vibrant music scene, with founder paul ‘mudd’ murphy making annual trips for djing and live performances. it’s perhaps unsurprising, then, that the label’s latest limited-edition vinyl release comes from japanese outfit okinawa delays, a project founded by producer, dj and long-time friend of the label takeo.
some of you may already be familiar with okinawa delays thanks to 2016’s hana, a cover of a popular 1995 j-pop hit featuring original vocalist satoko ishimine. the singer is a well-known performer in her native japan, having released a number of acclaimed records on toshiba emi throughout the 1990s.

hotflush welcome lara wehbie aka blursome to the ranks with her debut ep “rendition of you”. raised in north carolina and currently residing in brooklyn, wehbie has come a long way since beginning to work on music in 2011 as a way of channeling her diagnosed depression and anxiety. she describes her work as a transitional darkness, something she says defined her sound even before she could manage the software she uses to make it. in her own words, “rendition of you ep signifies major transitions in my life over the past year and how my environment truly played a role in handling situations. it s a testament to how much happier i am now than i used to be. i still struggle but i m truly thankful for the influences i have around me that have made me a better individual and artist.” along the way she has attended the red bull music academy bass camp in 2015, and after an appearance on scuba s 2016 fabric mix, she debuts on the label with an experimental six track ep. side a of -rendition of you- introduces listeners to her experimental use of vocals and heavy percussive influences from the left field genre. side b dives straight into dance floor material with pounding kicks and and interjecting vocals, but then slowly winds down into a more melancholic ending with piercing synths rattling through to the last drop.

it s no secret that idle hands is a label built on a foundation of dub. from the earliest releases by pev, kowton and szare through to more recent output from o$vmv$m and christian jay, the influence of bristol s soundsystem heritage looms large in the myriad electronic music threads the label encompasses. sometimes this influence is explicit, other times implied, but the principles of sub heavy, spacious music for both body and mind guide the stylistic arc of the label as a direct result of the label s long time immersion in roots and dub culture.

trained in the art of deejay toasting by the legendary dennis alcapone, lester bulllock initially called himself alcapone junior, until maverick record producer lee scratch perry renamed him dillinger in the early 1970s, following his success on a west kingston sound system called smith the weapon, based in the ghetto of payne avenue. perry cut dillingers first dozen tracks, and there was early work for other producers such as prince tony, augustus pablo, enos mcleod and phil pratt, then, dillingers debut album, ready natty dreadie, was a local hit for studio one, but the cb200 set for island catapulted him to international prominence. yet, the dillinger material with the roughest edge was always produced by bunny striker lee, as this lp, answer my question, so amply demonstrates. first issued in the netherlands on the scramble label in 1977, it shows dillinger on fearsome form, his relaxed rhyming toasts tackling sound system matters, the rastafari lifestyle, action movie subplots, the highs and lows of romantic relationships, the need to help the less fortunate, and other burning issues of the day with biting wit and verbal dexterity, all delivered over tough aggrovators rhythms—including an unusual cut of the three piece suit rhythm. go deh! reissued on lp and cd, on cd for the first time ever!

what is footwork house jam (fw)? first of all it is a long-running club night in moscow, russia, dedicated to real house music and house dance culture. started in 2010 as a small project, influenced by sound and visual esthetics of 90 s house parties in new york and chicago, fw soon has become the biggest creative community of dancers in russia, gaining strong local following and international reputation. it is the birthplace and home for leading moscow dance crews. various artists ep -footwork house jam #1- is a homage to the global house culture and the eponymous moscow-based club night in particular. the idea behind this compilation is to provide the fuel for house dance culture and house movement to expand further on, blurring the boarders and eliminating the prejudices of the present times.

it was in june of 1980. after a long and intense journey through time and space, rupert marnie met spiritual highness frater loannis and became his apprentice. the magus told him invaluable things, like controlling his precious bodily fluids and the holistic mastery of others’ endocrine glands. the greatest wisdom though reached him on his seventh day, when frater loannis professed him an an-cient ritual that would allow him to meet the titan ufohagen, also known as cdboy. it was the 4th, when he appeared, dressed in a long, slim silk cloak, a sprinkling wand in his right. rupert stood in awe, immediately losing his newly gained fluid control, and started crafting a piece of music, that would remind mankind that not all is lost, as long as there is almighty ufohagen.

3 years ago, superpitcher made this mesmerizing remix of joakim s cover of neil young s on the beach. the buzz was instant, with djs from dixon to tim sweeney, dj tennis to mike simonetti asking us for the files of this extended deep techno cut. 3 years later we re finally releasing it as a joint crowdspacer / hippie dance release with an additional 20min long (!!) incredible ambient mix.

long term friends of geddes chris wood & meat deliver four stomping cuts for nofitstate s white series

the story of the both sides is tolled by our fellow artists in the most harmonic and carefully crafted music, complete with analog synths, melodic vibes, grumpy textures, deep sounds and groovy base lines. this long awaited masterpiece is topped of by the unique artwork captured by czech photographer and painter jan saudek, expressing some of the most intriguing & uncommon scenes from the last decade in his own unique vision for which we are most grateful and happy it fits right on with the design concept edited by m.dafinoiu, giving it the finishing touch with a transparent vinyl material.

this opus was recorded in a room transformed into a studio, where countless hours of work happened on an old computer, with trips back and forth to the grocery to buy liters of soda. in between soundtrack, jazz-funk and house, the beginnings of this ep find their roots in the encounter between lucien and dj gregory (point g), spiritual guide, who pushed into an introspective work, where the feelings were ultimately revealed sincerely. this ep is also the meeting of 4 musicians whove known each other for a long time and, together, form lucien & the kimono orchestra.

in the summer of 2016 hove went to france for two weeks to start writing and recording his new ep portes du soleil. together with his girlfriend they spent two weeks at le pascalet, a house in the woods of the cevennes, right outside the small village of st. etienne vallee franc&#807,,,aise. equipped with a sampler, a drum-machine,some synths, effect pedals and a mic for feld- recordings, he built the foundation of the 4 songs that would later become the ep portes du soleil. all the songs started out as live-jams. the goal was to create different moods and patterns inspired by the surroundings of the forest, long walks, playing petanque and plenty of pastis. the tracks were later fnalized back home at hoves studio in zurich. musically portes du soleil feels like the natural follow up to his debut ep journey to arendal. hoves tracks are wavering between sozzled grooves and warm, woozy atmospheres. field- recordings from their daily routine in and around the house were either used to enrich the ambiance, or as in calme infni, they were transformed into a whole song. even though portes du soleil was written during the summer, the record is not bound to any season it is simply an excerpt of hoves life in 2016.

florian meindl kick starts 2017 with a special four-track vinyl only release ‘colorful cage’. released on his own imprint flash recordings, the title track is taken from his forthcoming album ‘time illusion’. there is an exclusive vinyl edit of florian’s previously released foreboding techno track ‘nix charon’ and completing the ep are two further unique tracks ‘controlled pressure’ and ‘wild sequence 3’. as a dj, live performer, studio producer and sound designer, florian has over the years established an impressive producing base for himself in his berlin based riverside studio complex with an exciting hardware set up including modular systems, an analog mixing desk as well as classic machines like roland 909. in anticipation for the lp release in early april, florian has prepared a unique live set featuring a modular system, the korg minilogue, effect boxes and a 909 drum machine which were used in the creation of the album which he will be touring throughout 2017.
