fifth release on the acclaimed imprint from those lovely people over at the acclaimed sleazybeats blog. the dust just doesnt seem to settle at team sleazy who are set to unleash their fifth dish of mid-tempo filth. sbr005 should likely round out what has undoubtedly been more than a successful year for the sleazy beats crew. as hard as it might seem to upstage their recent sampler, this release by berliner daniel solar (of no more hits and dikso fame) is another trio of totally on point sleazy business which showcases daniels stellar skills. things start off with midfidelity funk, a snappy romp through steady synth and disco string territory. this little number delivers a perfectly spell-binding groove with nicely placed rhodes stabs, crisp tambourines and haunting vocal at the breaks. on the flip, twinkle love snaps out a sweet melange of piano, guitar/bass riff and morphing vocals that combine to give a lively mood and open atmospherics. finally, rounding up the ep is la fleur, a wonky yet punchy cut thats ripe with staunch drum sounds and strings amidst loopy vocal snippets for good measure. all three tracks ride a 110ish bpm groove that is likely to ring bells for those who have been following and digging the sleazy sound so far. the last few releases all sold out in a matter of weeks, so dont sleep on this. you know the drill by now: limited release, no repress.

>the voices< is the debut 12 inch from bobby and annie. drawing on their experiences as residents at the mint club, uk, the pair have crafted a versatile ep that sits as comfortably in a peak time set as it does on a hazy 6am dance floor. taken from a collection of vocal out-takes the voices have been cleverly obscured through various production techniques and layered around drums and old school analogue synth lines to unique effect. the results are two haunting, hypnotic, yet upbeat dj tools. the title track, >voices<, uses deftly interwoven vocal samples as the focus and driving hook. shuffled percussion takes a back seat amidst a discordant, attention-grabbing synth interlude that harks back to the playful garage sound of90s chicago house. the outcome is dramatic, intense and functional. on the b-side, >loose ends<, is a more rugged affair that gives the bass and drums centre stage. the vocals are pitched and trippily float in and out of the track whilst the familiar sound of fairlight stabs punctuate the groove. the effect is eerie, yet accessible, and rounds off this stunning ep.

the west coast series continues... after the huge hasbeens release its sumerian fleet with a amazing 5 track ep full of big dark wave inspired tracks. the perfect sound track for a movie such as irreversible. scary, haunting and dirty! do we hear some influences of the cure? liaisons dangereuses? adult? front 242? john fox? by far the most inspiring electro release we have heard in a while with its crazy industrial drive and dirty machine funk and robotic synths. btw check out that last track blech erkrankung... that track alone is worth buying this record! big.

a major global player in all things futuristic disco prins thomas internasjonal imprint is further branching out and diversifying with its brand new spanking series internasjonal spesial. the a-side sees the proven and tested multi-national team of reykjavik born holmar filipson of thugfucker and crack & speed fame and ny party veteran ulysees ( one half of neurotic drum band ) pushing the agenda of joining the dots globally with the soon-to-be-classic emotive eletronic disco cut escape from new york . starting out as a leisurely paced electro boogie cut with sentimental string chords, additional e-guitar loops and haunting synth noises leak in a dark 80 s pop sensibility a la my bloody valentine. also the b-side by valentinoland - holmar filipsson partnering this time with arni runar hlodversson of fm belfast fame - is nothing short of truely exceptional but more on the dulcet side with a gut-wrenching string-lead melody in classic balearic sunset style.
