DOG DAYS EP (POL ON / RODRIGUEZ JR RMXS) (CLEAR VINYL)
coloured 12 Inch 09.05.12
first up is 92, a straight up jacking deep house number with, as the title suggests, a retro flavour. the deep repetitive pads are jacked up with amen break style drums that were used so widely in electronic music back in the 90s. some quirky synth lines and vocal licks here and there give the track its touch of soul and then a fat bass line to bring in the bottom end. high quality simple yet effective house music...
the unstoppable my favorite robot records returns with a new single from lightbluemover featuring a collaboration with regular partner black light smoke and a remix from my favorite robot, james teej & nitin lightbluemover is the moniker adopted by dj/producer francis harris best known for his work as adultnapper.
part one of session victims haunted house of house sampler is already going down an absolute storm with the likes of dop, james teej, catz n dogz and tornado wallace declaring it >superb<, >inspiring<, >fantastic<, and bloody ripping, respectively. nows the time for part two containing four more cuts of the good stuff and by now you know what we are talking about here, deep, sample-heavy, rough around the edges but smooth in all the right places. basically good oldfashioned instrumental moods and grooves which will appeal equally to those old enough to remember the golden era of pork recordings as it will to the hip young vinyl heads with a nose for anything disco. enjoy, support and keep them peeled for the final installment part three coming very soon
two new house tracks from la electronics master, gifted & blessedb!
second outing on the label from las gb (gifted & blessed), this time on 12 inch. following on from his recent provider 12 this is another great showcase of his ever-developing sound styles. 2 tracks here with >7 in 24< a dense 808 led up-tempo workout with a hypnotic groove while on the flip >dogon< is a techno-electro hybrid with a nod to the pre-millennium motor city sound.
the rest of it is all city standard - full one off colour art this time from brightons roid (msk).
new kanada welcomes the mole back into the fold with a heavy image two-tracker from deep in the forest. the slo-mo a-side dog river is heavy and raw and dripping with calcified disco echoes. tweaking distant bass, tugging percussion and psyched vocal loops. a serious main-floor builder. on the b-side, colin gets tougher and darker and crafts a potential blackout bomb. grinding pads mix with a morphing bassline to form a dubbed out late-night track - made for the mix.
after a short break aaron jays influence records is back with another top draw 12 from none other then liquid master random movement. having released an album on markys innerground label last year, random movement was keen to drop a 12 inch on influence and what a 12 it is. both sides are dance floor killers, both on heavy rotation at fabric and have been supported by the likes of spy, fabio, lynx, grooverider & bailey.
alter ego have brought the rukus with this release and is pretty much standard for these london based producers. this has sold really well on promo so dont miss out on this one.
bit of a special release we have here with a new collaborative project from belgian duo fcl joining the omnipresent danilo of motor city drum ensemble for some seriously raw, stripped back and undiluted house music. most people will know san soda and red ds fcl project following the brilliant lets go seven release on their we play house label last year as well as their remix of proof for trunkfunk. mcde has become one of the biggest and most revered names in house in recent years having produced the amazing raw cuts series as well as compiling the dj kicks lp which spawned the mcde single l.o.v.e.
the black dog are a legendary live act whose ability to destroy venues and wreck soundsystems is undeniable. they blur the boundaries between djing and performance while possessing an excellent sense of where to take the crowd. live, they represent purist techno, which is also utterly crowd pleasing. on record, tbd are famous for delivering subtlety, emotion, and intellectual richness, as well as great tunes, but never in their career have they managed to convey the sheer visceral impact of their performances as on liber dogma. this album contrasts with last years extremely well-received ambient outings on music for real airports and the dadavistic orkestra collaboration with members of the psychick warriors of gaia. while none of the bands artistry and care has been lost, there is now a greater focus on a pure, and utterly exhilarating, vision of how techno can transform the dancefloor into a realm of complete pleasure.
manuel tur returns to delusions following his recent classic most of this moment on freerange and proceeds to throw another whacking great curveball for those who have think theyve got his game sussed. its quite safe to say the last year or so manuel has continued to push and redifne himself as a producer, refusing to stick to one sound or repeat himself which has resulted in some amazing releases aswell as some fruitful collaborations. recent remixes for permanent vacation, diynamic and dixons philomena label all display his deeper, left-of-centre and more techno-edged sound. here on delusions we have the (bi) polar opposite in the form of the foolin ep. the title track is a beautiful slice of soul-drenched house which goes for a classic sound with simple horn chords, rolling bass and incessant claps spicing up the groove. a simple vocal refrain is spun in like a dj drops an accapella and once heard this will be stuck in your head for days. a firm fireside favourite with all of us here at dog. theres also an instrumental version of foolin for those with vocalitis. flipping over we have the traveller which sees manuel head down slightly more familiar territory with a heavy, lo-slung groove providing the backdrop for some axelrod-style strings and horns, live bass and floating vocal adlibs. a subtley haunting soundtrack feel pervedes as the arrangement developes but the relentless driving beats make sure this track never strays far from the dancefloor.
the second mercury ep - and we dont need to introduce the guys anymore for sure. from brodinski, dj mehdi, a-trak to cosmo vitelli, ajello and matt walsh - the last mercury release and their remixes for made to play, kitsune, tom trago have been played by djs from all kinds of scenes. it seems the guys found the perfect formula for mixing soul, house and contemporary electronica in a way that works perfect on 99% of the dancefloors of today. and still: this is not cheap music at all. mercurys complex production and clever songwriting guarantee that you want to listen to this music again and again. now the guys strike back with an ep where its hard to choose the main track. play these tunes.. peaktime or warm up... people will scream and shout. especially - as always with gomma records - the girls will love it... hehe.
it took a while but we finally got this great remix ep together from catz n dogz escape from zoo album. tanner ross flexes his e-funk biceps and shows us that just a little bit goes a long way with huge bass and sparse vox. this remix goes against the grain the right way, showing restraint and power at the same time. the main man of detroit, carl craig also delivers a sparse and beautiful mix, 1st giving us a lesson in how to properly tweak the space echo and then bringing it back with classic strings and subs. both mixes are getting major support from all across the globe from sebo k to troy pierce to ewan pearson to martyn to l-vis 1990 to james zabiela - overall probably the best feedback we had in a while on a record to be honest.. all great for our kids at the detroit youth foundation where the mothership label donates 100% of profits! also, special thanks to matt colton at air studios, london for donating a mastering session for free to cut this record and support our school.
pattern select aka milton jackson and show-b have gone well and truly back to the raw on this, their first collaborative work together and debut ep for delusions of grandeur. both producers have been busy on some top quality projects just recently with milton jackson remixing recloose for planet e and show b producing for robert owens on compost. the pair met at a party in munich, promptly fell in love, and soon enough pattern select was born. kicking off tale of the tape sees the pair go deep n dark on this low-slung groove where demonic laughter rides the driving hats and insesant crashes until the filtering arpeggiated synth line joins the fun. tale of the dub gives us a stripped back, dub-infused version which goes a little lighter on the craziness of the first version but without losing any of the deep, hypnotic funk.
deep space orchestra have been carving out a very nice name for themselves over the past year, and alongside the likes of cottam and krl itʼ,,,s safe to say that they are helping to establish an exciting new movement of raw, detroit-inspired house. the diy approach is very much a part of their ethic, as is the underground feel and aesthetic which imbues their own use of weapons label as well as their recent releases on similarly minded vinyl-orientated labels such as foto and kirk degiorgioʼ,,,s legendary art. the release we have here is perhaps their most refined music yet, showing a development in their production level on two tracks which are brimming with a warmth and fatness whilst retaining that critical raw edge which only a handful of the most exacting producers seem capable of. lo pan builds around a fat, bouncing bass line and a brilliantly lilting groove created by straight 808 hats and shuffling shakers. the feel keeps shifting throughout the song, sometimes superswung, sometimes straight and driving, all the while simple detroit strings build and analogue arps are layered up building the tension in the arrangemen
originally on cosmo vitellis parisian label im a cliche, runaways >dead dog farm< finds additional life with on the prowl releasing four new stunning remixes. the original version exitst as a beautiful blend of live instruments recorded by nycs brennan green
the long awaited new single taken from aeroplanes debut album >we cant fly<. >my enemy< is definitely the most dancefloor orientated track on there, but nevertheless we included a blinder of a remix package for you!
up first is rex the dog (kitsune, kompakt), who makes >my enemy< even more epic, or should we say arpeggiotic?! the legendary green velvet (cajual, relief, music man) on the other hand turns it into an unmatched rolling monster for the dancefloor. if thats the enemy, we wanna make it up!
berliner martin dawson and polish duo catz n dogz join forces to bring us this fierce three track ep entitled no nights. the first track on this release is no nights. brimming with warm pads and an accusing, dark lo-fi synth line this version has a deep vibe to it and the ability to really get under ones skin. following this the berlin-polish team hit us with no nights (beatz mix) a catchy tech-house number with a lo-fi synth line sporadically accompanied by a melodically decending dubby synth. combined with the crisp vocal line this makes for a very promising track. no days, the last track on this release gets straight to business with distorted vocals and a menacing bassline that intertwine throughout the track. varying rhythmical flourishes keep it interesting, while tripped out synthesized sounds guarantee to get any dancefloor grooving. we couldnt be more pleased with the results of this tenacious trio and we look to the future in hope that they are already planning further collaborations.
jerome takes sole control over the latest apotek release, the canine ep. definitely lacking anything but inspiration in the studio, mr. sydenham rides the wave of productivity with his latest ep of techno-funk for his apotek label, an ep that might have you reaching for the number of the nearest veterinary clinic.
dj support : reboot, nick curly, mathias kaden, nekes, brothers vibe, richie hawtin, tim green, franco cinelli, mihalis safras, someone else, c-rock, mirco violi, matt star, danny tenaglia, sasse, livio & roby, meat, giovanni d amico, hooved, luc ringeisen, audiojack, andre kronert, osunlade, nicolas duvoisin, franksen
polskis and boston tea parties are never usually mentioned in the same sentence, this particular tea party took place in berlin in the summer of 2009, and instead of the traditional tea party antics, it involved devouring traditional polish pies and vodka. this became the recipe for an unprecedented collaboration. throw in a seth troxler inspired sample and that recipe becomes michelin starred! vodka sinkers catz & dogz get groovy with dope time travellers soul clap in a pairing which makes you think you dropped a tab, polished off a bottle and smashed the back out of some kosher delights.
*limited to 500 copies*. miss it and miss out.
the eerier child, a rotterdam-based producer, now releases 3 new tracks on his newly co-founded label black sunday recordings after previously releasing several successful tracks on labels mindtrick records and redrum recordz. in a still ongoing journey through various music styles, the eerier child found shelter in the bold realms of dubstep. in these very realms, he discovered a world where he could release his full power of fierce rhythms and colorful soundscapes drenched in an eerie atmosphere.
tornado wallace has had a great 12 months following his debut release paddlin on delusions put him firmly on the map of heavyweight young producers to watch. subsequent remixes for home taping is killing music, future classic and detroit label kolour have pushed him further to the forefront of deep and dubby slomo house scene. always twirling spins into action with driving 16th note hats, compressed pads and soaring strings. 808 snare fills rattle throughout and a warm, dubby bassline provides the speaker-troubling low end. twirl and the beanstalk goes for a more heads down, bare beats and bass approach resulting in an intense, floor friendly track that grooves extra hard. finally, we have whispering twirl, a sumptuous slice of midtempo deepness with a hint of boogie and a dash of soul
session victim are back with yet more 21st century explorations into the thing we call house. it s been a busy 12 months for the german duo since they re previous delusions outing, maintaining momentum by releasing some of the most inventive, warm, deep and soulful music on a host of vinyl orientated labels such as real soon, hairy claw and retreat
theres movement in the formatik dog pen. the two format : b alpha dogs recently introduced their latest techno puppies with combined, and now theyre showing their teeth again. when dogs meet they dont just lick each others ears but also put on a silver dog tag. seeing as the three legged four leggers jakob and franziskus arent that happy being alone and are often seen dancing over the dog grounds wagging their tales they have decided to share their bowl with sebastien leger, the french production bulldog who always has a couple of remix scooby-snacks lying around somewhere. that is why they have given him one of their dog tags and have mutually decided that legers own dog club mistakes music will be going walkies with formatik on a regular basis. only the lady and the tramp is more romantic than that.

first on decks.de !! t-bet records is glad to introduce the duo mr. bizz, a project with house and dub sonorities. even though its a young project they have already had plenty of releases. among these the track eternity has been used in the compilation ten years cocoon ibiza mixed by dubfire and loco dice. strong irreverent percussions, kinda hypnotic, deep bass lines screwing in your ears, disarming melodic patterns mixed with elated voices all contained in dreamy atmospheres. its easy to be taken away by esta manana and to be enraptured on the rolling wheels of oasi. you know, we have decided to bet on techno and what would be more satisfying than to embody on this ep two great remixes from from andrea ferlin (1/2 of duoteque) and diamond dog (contexterrior)

after the re release on clone and some hot tracks on lets pet puppies another one rescued production of marcus mixx from obscurity! mr mixx featuring project democracys is this dream for real? paired with 3 more of marcus tracks. these rare tracks were only heard mostly in and around chicago during the late 80s. is this dream for real? is a deep and moody chicago house track. deep, infectious bassline with a gorgeous female vocal, the kind of track that makes you instantly say, wtf? simple, timeless, effective. and so are the other three tracks. raw jacking house tracks just as we like it!
unique and limited as always. here is the third release from the italian duo, the barking dogs. on the logo side, hi-nrg is a disco-infected housey tune, a real floo-killer for the peaktime hour! on the flip side, s.o.s. is a shiny mixture of 80 s raw beats, grovvey basses and weird vocals
