its been a while since i:cube hasnt deliver some fresh cuts! was he lost in a software??? hes back (a new album is also scheduled) to his early naive, deep and twisted spirit, but with a super tight modern production... falling is a sleazy funk track, a slow burner, which contains all the elements who made i:cube one of the most respected and innovative producers around since more than a decade!! heavy groove, hypno bassline, references to the early disco-dub music. un dimanche sans fin (neverending sunday) was done (as its name says) a sunday night, one shot, at the versatile studio. cube reconnects with his seminal dub-techno love, a track full of space and emotion. i would describe operation hypnosis as sheffield house. a solid beat and some bleeps will bring the dancer into a mental spiral...

this is the first part of staub (engl. dust) - a new series of giegling, which aims to release traditional techno music. dust because its about dusty tracks, if you consider the sound and the time of creation. the music of the first part is from 2003 and is produced by a guy, who disguises himself in the documents as vril. we discovered him in a secret subterranean archiv during the demolition of our hobby celler - the giegling. played and charted (top 7 , april 2010) by marcel dettmann (berlin)

circus company welcomes a new artist on the label: the homewreckers. named after a track by southern soul legend sam dees, the production collective from germany has been moving and breaking new ground between detroit techno, abstract funk and melancholic disco music since 1995. their debut album amercian ruhr has been released on unique records in 2008 and creates an absolutely distinctive sound which seems to come straight out of a from a feverish dream populated by the ghostlike figures of larry graham, juan atkins, frank hutter, bernard edwards, erik b or al green. the not my business ep perfectly shows how the homewreckers flow on these two original tracks. you feel the funk, you feel detroit and you feel a deep and unique sense of music. cherry on the cake, you got a remix from san francisco based artist dave aju who is back on the label after his much acclaimed album open wide released in 2008. not my business isnt their first shoot on the label as they were already part of last months snuggle & slap circus company compilation with a brilliant live-version of chicago urban blues.

the remixes come from prominent producers around europe, so starting chronological from a2 to b2: sian has appeared on a lot on raves and parties with his surf board. he is an international traveller who loves to be reminded of the times when surfing farmers left their houses with door frames and no doors. his remix works in a way a countdown functions. building up tension at an incredible speed, this track is set out to explode... but sian would not be sian if he had not developed a club friendly torture . sian rides the wave of superfatt basslines and adds a sequence that sounds as if someone had replaced his teeth with thin pieces of metal, creating a humming voice comparable to one of a jaws harp. sian keeps the tension going with very few elements and shows he is a true masterof techno.
secret cinema has been accompanying us since his first releases mid of the 90ies and we truly believe quality prevails, not to mention his mayor chart hit just 3 months ago with “shake ur tech-ass”. well secret cinema is unbelievably massive in his production. we dont see how anyone can fatten up the sound more than he can. but it is not only about tuning and pimping and pimping and tuning... his remix is a masters piece of perfectionbecause it creates something rare... deep emotional hydraulic strength. this is like diving head on into a pool of silicone and getting sucked into it. this track has an hypnotic feel to it that is comparable to radiohead.
darko esser is an icon in the techno scene of the netherlands. his remix takes the track in to a direction you would not expect it could go to. starting rather minimal darkos remix soon takes a turn and brings in jack elements and cool nostalgic melodies that will warm the heart of every detroit techno lover. was it derrick may who played chords like this... these strings are looked up in the back of our heads like childhood memories of having your first popcycle exploding in your mouth. this is soulful music with just enough analogue imperfection and warmth to it.

tiger supported by... rob da bank, kiko, markus kavka, mihalis safras, justin berkovi, ivan smagghe, orde meikle... moonbeam are back on traum! the russian brothers had a great year and have been voted as one of the top 100 djs worldwide by uk dj mag, in december 2009. we think they are wonderful, dedicated people who really deserve winning this award. with their new a-side track >tiger< moonbeam show their timeless quality and their deep knowledge of music, writing a seemingly simple but gigantic track. if you want to express in words what this track is like you might say it is a hybrid of joe beltrams >energy flash< fuelled with a melodic note and a lot of post-techno feeling. creating a revival of rave which so many people speak about, but so few actually reflect in theirproductions! the energy of this dark monumental new school acid track is counteracted by the two tracks on the flipside >land of the lost (strict mix)< and >zoo<. the b1-track >land of the lost< sounds like a soundtrack for a film set in a ghost-town in the midwest of the united states. a track that travels like a camera does... through different rooms of a deserted mansion. the b2-track >zoo< is the beat track of the record. it relies on its cool driving sequences and the hypnotic feeling it creates through them. adding small changes here and there that keep the track constantly going.

clone classic cuts continues to dig in the crates to bring back forgotten or obscure records from the past! this is 3 tracks by da posse (produced by hula... one of the outthere brothers... and with maurice joshua, k fingers & martell). strings & its my life are chicagos take on detroit techno... a rare release that sounds like a early derrick may record (think the dance) but maybe slightly more straight forward (as one might expect from chicago). a rare piece in house and techno history since this is one of the rare examples of a record that doesnt show the clear difference between chicago and detroit in the late 80s. this record most likely got produced within 1 year after rhythm = rhythms legendary nude photo and strings of life releases (both 87 and this came out in 88). as extra bonus track we have the groove. a phat bass driven chicago acid track that still rocks it. another fine piece of powerful dance music history back in the spot light!

from the studio of scott grooves... modified suede... music that you can feel. great selection of basic house tracks in the vein of his recent scott grooves release on clone (coco brown). this is a special tribute to clean simple rhythm tracks and scott grooves shows that being one of the first techno musicians on the planet doesnt have to mean that the passion for pure dance music has to disappear after so many years in the music bizz. excellent collection of tracks that lean towards classic house music, but with that fresh simple approach of many of the new school house producers! very much recommended!

hive audio is here – a brand new label, run by the makers of the infamous hive club, located in the the industrial quarter of zurich. the imprint was founded by samuel gmur and adrian wöllhaf, better known as animal trainer with some great releasing on oliver koletzkis stil vor talent, amongst others. zurich is not only party capital of beautiful switzerland, it is more and more becoming a habitat for talented and creative music producers and djs, who will now get a new international platform. releases will be held mainly by residents of the hive club itself – benja will be given the honour to start off with his track paradose. >paradose< impresses with a funky percussion loop, ultra-brief chords and scantily applied vocal snippets. benja keeps it dust-dry, leaving out every kind of frippery and lifting the track to a real &#64258,,oor-&#64257,,ller without any razzmatazz needed. on the &#64258,,ip we have a remix by christian burkhardt, who needs no further introduction. he turns the number into a real techno loop monster, which will catch you within a few beats, and then wont let loose again. hypnotic and twinkle-toed at the same time, his remix easily will suit any after hour or peaktime set to the same degree. christian burkhardt himself is also one of our favourite guests in the club. this is why, of course, we are double happy to welcome a hive club resident on our hive audio 001.

after the well received all creation 12s delsin records drops yotokos >wet ink<. yotoko are shifty & domu (jcr, 2000black, archive). yotoko stands for a perfect fusion between broken beat, techno and soul.
their album is not about breaking barriers, but it is their own little twisted version of what they call techno. for yotoko techno can be heard in everything, so as such it is all techno. domu and shifty are influenced by lots of different stuff, soul, jazz, disco, hip hop, techno, some old break beat, new broken stuff.. as well 20 pence mad charity shop finds.. the album is about yotoko making music they think is cool and realizing that all this music is the same no matter what the bpm or groove.
domu started as sonar circle for 4 heros reinforced label. later on active as domu for labels as archive and 2000 black and together with archive label boss volcov for the jcr-label with their album as rima. shifty is domus longtime comrade, making his first musical public appearance as yotoko. the albums artwork will be done by amsterdams machine, who already took care of the kindred spirits releases.

dualism are kwamina and gab from zurich. they produce music since 2005 and had their debut release on pheeks label archipel >dualism speech defect ep< in 2006.
today their sound appears minimally as twisted, queer-melodic deep and wicked techno with much love to the detail. their sound surprises with unconventional rhythm-structures and many-layered sound-design. their distinctive style and preference for idiosyncratically and broken sounds as well as the clever use of vocal snippets is always present on their productions.
the name-giving track of this ep is remixed by dapayk and also by estroe.

support from andre rozzo, alex jones, so inagawa, jamie jones, matthew styles-harris, laurent garnier, steve lawler, nic fanciulli. luna records is a new uk based label from respected club promoter/ dj/ producer paul bowen, the man behind middlesbroughs infamous >riff raff< events. the label is set to release music from some pretty well established artists with an emphasis on stripped back chunky house music and in that vein the debut single sees the much hailed german producer chris lattner step up get the imprint firing in the right direction. lattner has been djing for the best part of two decades, initially gracing the decks at hannover techno parties before word of his talent spread, seeing him strike out to play across germany. he has hosted a radioshow for australias pulse radio, worked as a booking agent for lessizmore and has had releases on labels such as einmaleins musik and wba. his passion for electronic music has shone through in everything he has done and led him to produce some great records, to which can now be added the luna debut >memory<. this single release kicks off with lattners original of >memory<, a solid tech driven slice of house with heavily effected vocal samples and a simple floor shaking groove. this is understated underground house music at its best, deep chunky and highly effective. first of the two remixes comes from ex-peace division man justin drake, who builds on the vibe of the original, thickening out the drums and layering some heavy filters over the sythn stabs to great effect. a straightforward and highly effective arrangement provides everything that is needed in this excellent reworking. finally we have a remix from bearweasel, who have been providing choice cuts in house music over the last year via labels such as tsuba, supernature, bloop and murmur. for their >lazy dub< they take things back to basics and turn in a slab of deep and dubby house with an emphasis on razor sharp percussion and earth moving bass. this is a superb debut from a label that is sure to become a major fixture in 2010.

the new danilo vigorito on his imprint orion is a high school two tracker. this will be embarrassing for the newyoung talents of the techno scene as this vinyl is a real masterpiece of techno music and will be in the case ofmany >not virtual< djs ... dont miss it!

q hey (masaya kyuhei) started djing in 1989, and since then, has been one of the few key individuals of japans club scene (along with takkyu ishino, ken ishii, fumiya tanaka). with determination, focus, hard work, and with the support of loyal fans, he is one of tokyos techno milestones. from club events to massive outdoor music festivals, q hey is the artist who always delivers. his newest ep on mbelektronics is again a banger, backed up with two firm remixes of marco bailey & tom hades and redhead. dancefloor madness guaranteed!

with after midnight glocal evokes the solid influences that surrounded their process of musical maturation in the 80s and 90s. new wave / disco rock basses and drums mingle with house from chicago, gothic bass solos, post punk vocals, and soul falsettos and chords that make reference to the techno from detroit.

emphatic labelowner dj stay is no stranger to the scene with numerous releases on the big spanish labels and also on his own imprint. this is already the 6th release on emphatic and what a stormer! not only dj stay representing, but also the spanish technohero: david moleon. portugees superstar dj link (amigos) and aka carl all deliver the goods on this one!

the artform label began in 1997 formed by jamie anderson as a platform to release his studio productions. artform soon had the attention and support of other music pioneers and released early works by jerome, steve rachmad, dave angel, stanny franssen and jesse rose. the mission for the label was to bridge the divide between genres of electronic music by experimenting with fusing styles and developing new sounds, a legacy which is still apparent today. after a short break artform now returns with a fresh new track by jamie anderson to relaunch the label joined by a huge remix from amsterdam‘s jerome. the pair of have worked together many times with releases on 100% pure and jerome‘s own outland records. this past year has seen jamie‘s productions on labels such as cocoon, rekids, klang elekronik and harthouse, and this release proves to be one of his strongest yet. predator continues in the labels direction of forward thinking tech house with a classic sound of the 909 creating a sinister backdrop of detroit inspired techno.

played by karotte !!! with his newest ep on wagon repair (ghosts in the ai - wag058), mathew jonson looks to both the past and future to create a stunning release. track 1 - ghosts in the ai - is the first solo production that was made in wagon repairs new berlin studios. finally, in a real place to work, and with a lot of new gear to play with, mathew focuses on evoking both the future and technology to wonderful affect. track 2 - technology - comes from mathews past as it was created around the same time as tracks like octagon came out on iiwii. originally, it was going to be the first cut on his debut album that he was planning to release. on the day that mathew was looking for a b-side track for the ghosts in the ai ep, his brother, nathan (hrdvsion), played it over the phone asking him why he had not released it, as it was one of nathans favourites. it worked much better than the other track that was going to be on here so thanks, hrdvsion. track 3 - the alchemist - comes from mathews involvement this summer producing the music score for the old classic silent film faust, which was screened, complete with cobblestone jazz playing the score live, at the 2009 timewarp festival. the alchemist was written for the scene when faust is working in his laboratory then walks out into the snow to summon the devil to help with his work. a fitting piece indeed!

emptyset is a bristol based production project formed by james ginzburg, aka ginz, boss of the multiverse network of labels and paul purgas a longstanding electronic dj/collector and curator of this years we can elude control compilation. their collective agenda has been exploring techno music’s diverse influences and compiling them to a studio template focused on tight production and detailed sound design. inspired by the city’s culture of bass lead production as well as the global resurgence of electronic music, the sound has been described as techno meets dubstep folded back onto techno again, a description which is perhaps the most insightful to date. the project owes credit to the classic releases of m-plant, sahko and chain reaction as well as more recent producers such as alva noto, deathprod and burial. emptyset acts as a research project connecting the ideas of a modern dancefloor with experimental approaches to music and its design.

detroit, 1993. the burden brothers, known for their octave one project and 430west record label, start a new sub label called direct beat. it was created to release the techno electro sounds of inner city detroit. in 1995 the label was in full effect and released music produced by friends such as tommy hamilton, keith tucker, mad mike banks, will web and them self.
now 15 years later we know that direct beat was one of the big influences on how electro and techno is today. together with underground resistance, axis, m-plant in detroit and some like minded people in europe and artists such as drexciya, aphex twin, autechre and dopplereffekt it changed the way people looked at techno... it broke away from the dominant 4/4 kick and brought back the funk and emotion that disappeared once house and techno became popular and mainstream music in the early 90s.
we are happy to bring back direct beat records by making some of its classics available for a new generation. this is a part of techno music history we may not forget about! especially in these days that people consume more and more of the format tracks. this shows that emotion, passion and energy creates much more then just a dj tool... it creates tracks that become part of peoples life! and not for just one or two months in your i-pod... but for the rest of your life in your record collection! timeless classic collection... must have!

cyber dance records unleash their fifth record entitled somewhere out on the nightside. the ep consists of four tracks introducing a new batch of artists to the cyber dance cartel, brassica, serious lover, bill ambrose and melanie houston. brassica is the music of hackney bedroom producer michael anthony wright. hes had a couple of records on dissident and has a few more lined up for some other quite well-known labels over the next year. ballo dei morti was conceived one dark christmas day in milan and features the chorus of slayers dead skin mask vocoded in italian. the track has been eagerly awaited on vinyl after several months of attention through blogs such as 20 jazz funk greats and vice magazines music blog. serious lover is the brain-child of london based producer sam ryan who fuses electro-soul influences of early jam and lewis production with a more modern, harder sound, employing vintage synths and archaic drum machines in the studio and electronic musicians for the full live show. bill ambrose has been producing music on his collection of vintage synths and drum machines for over a decade, working behind the scenes as a producer or engineer on several releases. he wrote paranoid specifically for cyber dance earlier this year. melanie houston is a dj, musician and producer from london with a passion for dark, emotional music and a previous history in berlin where she djd and contributed music for the cult techno label tresor. with influences incorporating everything from avant-garde electronics to 80s synth pop, melanies as renowned for her skills on the turntables in the mix as for her abilities in the studio.

fresh outa detroit comes the first release on beretta music sub label beretta red. a four track compilation featuring respected artists arthur oskan, third ear and kanzleramts dennis desantis, and label head honcho brian kage. bear trax ep vol 1 is a collection of luscious detroit inspired techno jams aimed firmly at the dancefloor. strictly limited to 200 copies, and if thats not enough comes on appropriately enough tasty red vinyl. it also comes with a code to download all tracks free in digital format... which we presume must be for the girlfriends ipod.

mike minds only previous release, >acid machine<, has been tigas most played record since it was made. a full-time turbo employee, he has spent the past few years getting his brain around making techno, and continues to impress us with his output. his debut ep, >resonate<, is something of a departure for our label, and one we are very proud of.
its amazing to have this kind of music coming directly out of turbo hq, it nails a sound that we have always tried to cultivate. minimal without being boring, trippy without being predictable, unafraid of melody, and with just enough analog imperfection and warmth to it.
both of the remixers we chose represent different sounds in techno that have influenced mikes sound.

giorgio gigli is an italian minimal-trance maestro, an incredibly modern renaissance man who is also a trained sommelier.** he is rising in the ranks and catching up in profile to his occasional production partner, donato dozzy. hopefully we will have more of his tracks on turbo soon.
2: m¦n¦m¦l
hobo is a fellow canadian best known for his excellent work on m¦nus. rumor has it, he borrowed richies quad-macro template file to finish the final version of this remix... whatever he did, his second effort came up huge, this mix is excellent.

kebacid is the production alias for turbo all-stars jesper dahlbäck and jori hulkkonen. their previous releases on jespers defunct blank ltd are some of the best acid tracks of the decade. this is a monster that ought to keep all the die-hard turbo fans happy.

luke slaters mote evolver label is not pulling any punches. having shaken the techno scene to its boots last month with the release of ortin cams no-holes-barred >carnage<, the label moves on to their funky 13th release.
the name cari lekebusch is synonymous with what has made techno the musical powerhouse that it has become. globally recognized as a founding force behind the swedish techno movement alongside the triumvirate of adam beyer, jesper dahlbäck and joel mull, lekebuschs distinctive musical style and creative integrity has graced leading label from drumcode to soma to harthouse and turbo and spawned a career that has maintained over nearly two decades.
spindizzy is a deftly crafted funked-up tech house track. constructed from a palette of harmonically aligned keys, bass and horns, its intensity comes from the measured way in which each element is given the space to breath its own energy into the mix. pacey but musical, subtle yet memorable, this is a standout record.
luke slater adding his bass sodden l.b dub corp twist to the track completes the package. deeply dubbed-out tribal rhythms take the mix on a more left-of centre path that winds through a busy soundscape of atmospheric acoustics that seem to breathe in deeply before being exhaled in a release of firing percussion.

you may not have heard so much from andre (aka &me) so far. instead of the flash and glitter associated with most of his producer colleagues, hes preferred to stay in the shadows, co-producing and ghost writing for artists like dj hell and terranova. now after putting out his first solo single on keinemusik, which was supported by all the key players (front room label boss jesse rose, luke solomon, gabriel ananda, danny tenaglia and dubfire plus many more) &me is finally ready to go public as they say. he may have taken some time to figure out his own style of blending techno and house music but now hes out theres really no escape. with a name like an attention deficit childs mantra its a wonder he stayed in so long. the on ep is an excursion into the type of techno dusted pulsating minimal house that has been so big for artists like luciano esse and arnaud le texier and which is heard on heavy rotation in berlin meccas like bar25. with a side on ever present digital squelches (reminiscent of a rolf harrris style wobble board) are laid over shakers, stripped-back beat and the familiar on vocal. its not hard to understand why tiefschwarz have been rinsing it for quite some time now as a huge afterhours groover. b side talking days, swimming in lush deep techno elements, weaves through more melodic territory but is no less infectious

aka manuel tur & langenberg (millions of moments / ovum) welcome and hello to the first release on mild pitch, the newly launched label from essen, germany. founded by manuel tur, dplay and langenberg you can expect tons of groundbreaking and earthshaking house music on this label in the future. the first release is called >this feeling<. produced by essens finest, ribn, this tune is what house music should be all about. ribn is a project of manuel tur and langenberg that sort of happened by accident. after some productive jam-sessions in their studio they discovered that both shared a passion for deep and dubby techno tracks and all of a sudden they had their first releases on styrax leaves, millions of moments and ovum. a stunning new ep on mule electronic will be released very soon. >this feeling< is a deep, chord-driven track in the tradition of global communications infamous >the way<, that with its enormous vocal loop and warm harmonies grows constantly to a catchy tune. with no doubts this track is a real peaktime smasher, which became obvious when being played for the first time at mild pitchs legendary >slow club< parties in essen. the flipside includes the brilliant >rapidsnare mix< of this feeling

the particular view on a musical future might have been considerably different when olaf hilgenfeld (berlin) met iftah gabbai (jerusalem) for first sessions in 2004. the piano player hilgenfeld used the accordion that time mainly, whilst gabbai was using all instruments available, a computer was among those more by chance. only one year later the duo skinnerbox played regularly on such uplifting, innovative off-partys that came up in the new techno generation again.
that was just the beginning. skinnerbox have developed a purely electronically composed and performed music (partly featuring vocals by elle_p) – that is not based on loops but improvised techno inspired house and minimal house. the roles in the duo are clearly settled: olaf hilgenfeld – moog synthesizer, iftah gabbai – hardware drum machines, max/msp und ableton live.
all these distinct impacts and effects can be heard on their various releases from the last two years, but far better in their live sets. skinnerbox are an experience, taking you on expedition with paralyzing minimal, breaking house, hard-edged techno-jazz, and ambient electronica futurism.
it was a desire to eternalize this play- & colorful diversity, often just caused by the moment, as entire homogeneity. thus, they needed to leave temporarily their environmental techno and minimal house scapes. >king of spades and marmalades< – the result – is a jazz opus wrapped into a disco suitcase. it is a reminiscence as well as going far ahead of daily musical habits, shown not at least by the order of tracks, do not starting with a stunning hit of the album, but with 20 minutes of challenge.

plastique de rêves new single on david carrettas label space factory disques follows up on last years fantastic release on dfa with its summer !!, a perfect techno-pop summer hit with another great feature by vocalist ghostape, and dives further into the realms of electrodisco, synth-pop, and cosmic music. ultra synthetic and light-hearted, yet dreamy and emotional, the three tracks (four on the digital release) each capture with authenticity the essence of electronic disco music but pay tribute to it here in a very original, playful and modern way. its summer !! is a great follow-up to plastique de rêves previous singles on dfa and supersoul recordings, also featuring ghostape on vocals. this time the music goes even deeper into the worlds of synth-pop and electronic disco, with reminiscences of vince clarkes yazoo, giorgio moroder or kelley polar. the sunny, laidback, pop radio atmosphere, together with ghostapes emotional build up of the deliberately simplest lyrics ever written so far, might well keep you smiling, and dancing, all summer.

peter kruder returns to the gigolo mega-church to present two new tracks from his recent arsenal of techno and house dance-floor bombs. needless to say 2009 has been a good year for gigolo and hell with the high times being shared by peter kruder. beginning back in march when we released peter kruders first 12 inch in 7 years as part of the cd eleven release. followed swiftly by the release of dj hells acclaimed >teufelswerk< album, recorded and produced largely in peter kruders vienna based studio. so as we approach the end of 2009 it gives us great pleasure to announce the latest ep >hard to find<.
on the a-side you find the title track, which takes in influences from detroit techno circa the age of ur to north african hooks. the filter sweep towards the end, which serves as the drop/break, is a master-class in restrained modulation that is bound to ignite any dance floor. on the b-side we find >25 west 38th st.< a slightly more reserved affair opening with the sound of the ocean air, then swiftly diving into a bass driven groove, which features lush strings and a piano-led top line creating a track that is as atmospheric as it is rhythmic. the ep itself takes influence from the b-side on two levels, the most immediate being the title of the track, which is the address of the old nu groove records offices. this is peter kruders homage to a time when dance music served as a momentary escape, an opportunity to make those around happy. it also brings peters relationship with gigolo records full circle, having begun in 2004 with his >nu groove< remix of hells >listen to the hiss<.
resident advisor recently alluded to the idea that peter kruders finest solo work is coming exclusively through gigolo records. it is certainly not beyond the realms of possibility as this latest record goes a long way to proving. with such a statement in mind we invite you to listen to the latest release from peter kruder.
