manic street preachers originally gained a loyal following and cult status with their combination of androgynous glam punk imagery, outspoken invective and songs about alienation, boredom and despair. the bands later albums retained a leftist politicization and intellectual lyrical style, while adopting a broader alternative rock sound, especially after the mysterious disappearance of lyricist and rhythm guitarist richey edwards in 1995. >everything must go< is the manics fourth album and was released in 1996, now back on 180 gram audiophile vinyl.

for this second release the new parisian label street knowledge choose to produce two young native italians djs. peter jd and francys met in a small city in the south of italy, both evolving on the music scene since they are 14. peter is bringing the detroit house music touch whereas francys the 80s 90s music sound. from this collaboration is born the connection ep. where two different worlds find each other in a common space, connection ep brings different ideas of sound at the same time, by one side following a dry techno line with pumping drums and solid grooves, by the other side warmer and deeper, crossing hypnotic detroit flavored synths, chicago house, organic elements and chromatic female vocals. to make this release totally international jenifa mayanja from connecticut and the greek quell are delivering two remixes that should make a bomb effect on all the dance floors.

19 rupert street was the house in glasgow where scottish folk singer alex campbell lived and this is where sandy denny recorded these songs. recorded on a home tape machine they showcase denny in a relaxed atmosphere singing with acoustic guitar, and occasionally joined by campbell.

the ninth release from the mainrecords shop, on its eponymously titled label comes in the form of three tracks of slick late night electro from matt star, plus a remix from perseus traxx. with well over three dozen releases under his belt in one guise or another matt star aka mattias schildger is no stranger at all to production of high quality electronic music, as this latest ep clearly displays. happily blurring boundaries between house and electro, with its tight, crisp beats the release exudes a form of stripped back and honest late night cool with basses that bubble in a way sometimes reminiscent of ed dmx, while others lend more of a chicago feel accompanied by rolling toms. synth lines and arpeggiations cut in and out of subtle modulations giving the feel of anticipation one gets while tearing along the motorways of a city, late at night, the lights of the city and other vehicles brightly darting by, streaking and reflecting across the cars windscreen. perseus traxx delivers a subtle remix that remains true to the elements of the original and while adding a booming kick and some of his own production techniques, influences and grit to the mix, shows he isnt stuck in one genre or sound.

casbah73 is back with this wicked eccentric house 12 inch. >i m feeling lucky< is a deep and intense detroit-influenced vocal house jam. a take on the classic muzic box spirit, this one s got that anthemic feel about it and has classic written all over it. over on the flip side >i am the main bitch< keeps the party going. it is a polyrhythmic groovy house number that hits all the right keys to move the dancefloor. also included is a remix of this track, aptly named >in the middle east<, which adds an erm ... middle eastern flavour to the whole thing: a bit psychedelic, yet effective. all that, on a very limited 12 inch with screen-printed artwork and download coupon. with amazing artwork by graphic genius pepe medina.

we are proud to present an very talented upcoming artist from athens/greece called billy on air. growing up in a house full of music had many influences by different kinds to him. he started playing the piano at the age of 6 and that you can hear on his first production for mainrecords wich is a very aelodic and well produced hybrid between techno and trance. for his debut we got some cool remixes, the first one is from our long-time friend frank leicher who has stripped down the original to a techhouse bomb in his typical style. on the flip we present a crazy technoid remix by noone less then alex bau. his repaint uses just the essential drums of the original.
