astray is the sublabel of away, berlin.having showcased his more experimental on-edge techno design with his first two astray releases, discrete circuits control zero ep marks his most straightforward installment yet. the title track gets down to business without detours by growing into a powerful drum avalanche that combines bone-dry kicks with a frenetic atmosphere - point-blank: peak-time techno for the dance floor. ed davenport completes the a-side with a remix from his dj and production alter ego inland, who adds more muscle to the lower frequencies in order to retell a darker tale unfolding a cutting groove. although both tracks on the flip pick up the pace and intensity, they venture out into less dense, more emotional directions. dimensional equivalent embodies a no-nonsense rollout that builds an icy groove with a kick drum that, only blended by alerting, dream-like synths, never lets up. conjugate works with similar vocabulary while repeating bleep sounds, that are buried underneath the pounding grid, shift the focus towards both the varied percussion and the narrative progression.

east man is a new project from anthoney hart and its material predates his previous work as basic rhythm. his unique take on grime reduces the sound to its steely fundamentals, bringing in influences from dancehall, drum and bass and techno to gird the voices of the mcs he works with. his own name for this hardcore continuum mongrel is hi tek.
anthoney struck a friendship with the academic and theorist paul gilroy, who wrote the album introduction below, after starting personal research on representations of working class and mixed race families. he asked paul for some help after coming across his work via stuart hall, paul’s mentor. their discussions and friendship developed, and it dawned on anthoney that his research and the east man album had some synergy, so he asked paul to write a piece conveying that.

the first release from sign bit zero features two powerful edits from mick wills. giving new life to the track, ‘center’ by ale mania, a san diego based band, the cuts here contain wholly new structures with a greater focus on the oppressive yet powerful vocal parts and the uplifting string section. by extending the (acoustic) drum track and giving it the groove and strength we have come to associate with his edits, mick has created for us a unique take on the new wave / dark wave genres – ideal for any dj who wants to showcase this sound in a club-focussed context. ‘center’ originally appeared on the ep, ‘a, who sings that beat?’ on volar records and was written by andrew montoya, who has kindly granted us the permission to present this record to you all.

:-crimini- is a new independent label born from the experience of some members of the mighty kitchentstudio3, based in bologna italy. the first release contains on the first side three track by nas1 duo. the young duo work at the kitchenstudio3 since 2011, where they produced a lot of good stuff, including a track featuring kyle hall (released by wild oats music), their debut ep on bosconi records, two tracks released by nick anthony simoncino s hotmix records, and many other cool works. on the other side there is a power track, spinning at 45 tmp, produced by the mysterious grienkho, appeared on pushmaster records and austerity, and kosmik, legendary record collector from south of italy.

david meisers work chosen by dave clarke for his top ten of 2013 and supported too by oscar mulero, surgeon, exium, christian wunsch, black asteroid, claude young, ritzi lee,… in 2014 releases a back to back work with black asteroid which gets remixed by dave clarke, becoming the first spanish artist to get a remix from the baron of techno.

with its frankie knuckles-esque arpeggiated synth motif and winsome, wide-eyed-with-wonder vocals courtesy of danny pratt, simple science is an assured and blissful revere, yearning, euphoric and primed for the dance floor. elsewhere on the vinyl, henry and sam gift us the sublime kosmische shuffle of red, blue and green.

take me away exemplifies the boys cinema-scope, widescreen sound and ambition. a tight, in the pocket bass line takes root over skittering, celestial synths and only girls sublime vocal line. this could be a phuture-phunky quincy jones track, utterly infectious. in perfect tonal-tandem with this is the uplifting, techy-pop of u know.

formed in opposition to the media identity schizophrenia of the present, thought broadcast thrive upon the post-punk tactics of forgery and radical anonymity. *votive zero* is the second release on editions mego from this mysteriously coded american outfit. emerging from the us noise/punk background thought broadcast further trace a unique path with nine carefully considered obfuscations of rhythm and blurred takes on expressionism.

dj legend, producer icon, avant-gardist, pioneer. only few influenced the music scene of the past 28 years as deeply as pascal feos. he is responsible for 4 solo albums, over 200 releases and hundreds of remixes. still his hunger for sound experiments is satisfied by no means. although it has been a bit quiet around him in the past few months, you might rather call this the quiet before the storm. feos wouldnt be feos, if it wouldnt have been for him to have his fingers on controllers and knobs on a daily basis, creating and tweaking new sounds. finally the time has come. pascal is back, and he gentlemanly wrapped up a present for you, marked departed 2 return. what is in it? not only feos fifth album, but also a musical answer to the question what he has experienced and what he had to go through in these three creative and self-reflecting years of his musical hiatus.

edit king leo zero returns with something very special to kick off a new run of no frills dancefloor bombs that have been tried and tested over the summer on a packed worldwide dj schedule from stockholm to tokyo and beyond. first up is an intensive slice and dice exercise on probably the best track from definitely the best band in the world: the clash. leo takes their most disco friendly outing >the maginificent dance< famously spun by mr levan at the garage - and with the more dubby rare levan version he homes in on looped 1 bar sections, skating along to create a new arrangement - added to the brew are bootleg recordings form the clashes infamous live show at nycs bonds ballroom, and even some baseline demos digitally siphoned from people practicing guitar along to the clash on youtube!….. we are left with is an epic labour of love edit that has already found its way into the a-listers record boxes - from derrick carter to laurent garnier who are all spinning this solid as a rock dub disco bomb. on the flip we have a classy house re-work of al hudson & partners >music< which sticks a chi-town kick and snare up its rear end along with some serious sub bass, and in the middle things get all wobbly with some trademark leo zero space echo rides and before we are quickly warped back-in and onto the floor… big with a load of top jocks too including severino of horse meat disco fame.

following releases on some of the biggest labels in the game, including liondub, xs dubz and digital soundboy, we are very proud to present the dub police debut from zero g. a no holds barred dancefloor bomb, >bring it< will hit you right where it counts.

after the big success of pascal feos longplayer terrabong, levelnonzero is coming up with the first part, of a three part serie. on this collection will be tracks of artists and friends which already have released on levelnonzero, as a track of a newcomers they signed for this project. the first strike will be headed by mihai popoviciu, one of the current top djs from rumania. the labelmanger himselfe chris wood is coming up with a new track, that is produced together with his friend domenico d agnelli from munich. frank leicher, part of the levelnonzero family brings in his typical minimal house sound and luca bear, a new talent from italy closes this release with a strong floorfiller.
