das gleichnamige album des italienischen duos we love überzeugte als wahrscheinlich charmanteste liebeserklärung an das leben, die liebe und die popmusik des vergangenen jahres. mit der ep >timeless< legen sie jetzt ihre zweite bpitch control veröffentlichung mit neuen songs nach. musikalisch sucht ihr eleganter mix aus minimal-wave-pop, dezenten gitarren, new order reminiszenzen und den eindringlichen vocals seinesgleichen. die flipside gehört ganz dem dancefloor. hier finden sich zwei ebenso episch ausgedehnte wie reduziert arrangierte remixe von titeln des debütwerks. >ice lips< enthält eine schlankheitskur von tale of us, die bereits auf cocoon, barraca music und life & death veröffentlichten und u.a. einen grandiosen remix für who made who anfertigten. ein absolutes highlight ist sicher auch der troy pierce remix von >even if<. troy pierce releases auf minus gelten als klassiker des genres!

pattern select aka milton jackson and show-b have gone well and truly back to the raw on this, their first collaborative work together and debut ep for delusions of grandeur. both producers have been busy on some top quality projects just recently with milton jackson remixing recloose for planet e and show b producing for robert owens on compost. the pair met at a party in munich, promptly fell in love, and soon enough pattern select was born. kicking off tale of the tape sees the pair go deep n dark on this low-slung groove where demonic laughter rides the driving hats and insesant crashes until the filtering arpeggiated synth line joins the fun. tale of the dub gives us a stripped back, dub-infused version which goes a little lighter on the craziness of the first version but without losing any of the deep, hypnotic funk.

remerc is no new face to the scene. he has been active for quite some time in the german techno scene and has recently remixed butchs track >muskatnuss< on the trapez ltd 100 anniversary compilation. he had his breakthrough in 2010 with the track >tiny calf< which ended up on the cocoon compilation >party animals< mixed by marco carola and nick curly. remerc opens his release with >ruhewolf<, a restless funkedelic rocker with a beat that juggles elements in a loose and totally cool way. the track is spiced up with elements of surreal bliss and could go on forever were there not the limitations of the vinyl. on the flipside we find an hanne & lore remix that tightens and fattens up the beat and pimps up the basslines. adding some twisted sounds ... making it a clubber par excellence. >just a bards tale< is a unique remerc track and stands out from all the productions he has done so far. here new wave coloured edgy vocals meet a post-detroit string-chord arrangement. sounds adventurous and daring? well it is to some degree... but recall >no more words< by carl craig from 1991 but executed in a dead modern way.

after an impressive debut with thugfuckers >disco gnome<, life and death returns for round two as it once again gives us its slightly psychedelic after-hours take on dance pop. here it s with a remix ep that features two stellar remixes of danish band whomadewho. the first remix comes from tale of us, the young italian duo who were quickly recognized for their incredible remix of disco gnome and who are already being recognized as one of the most promising new electronic acts to come out of italy in the last 5 years. the second remix comes from michael meyer, a pillar of dance music and an outstanding producer who truly needs no introduction. with a dreamy voice and haunting melodies that creep into your brain and stay there until well after the lights have come back up, >every minute alone< seems set to establish the new label as strong voice leading the charge into new territories along the borderline of dance and pop.

solabs music is inspired by the detroit legacy, both in a musical and theoretical approach. the duos tracks have an otherworldliness to them, providing a glimpse at other places, imagined or real. indeed, on celestial tales, the feeling pervades that while the intricately woven melodies and complex beats are beautiful in their own right, they are really just providing pointers to a hitherto unexplored place. the beautifully evocative sounds of this ep work purely on a musical level. solab combine techno & house in a brilliant way making this a sure-shot follow up to their previous lifeworld twelve distant galaxy!

2024 repress - oliver koletzki compiled his personal favorite tracks with some previously unreleased, high-impact material on >remix tales<

the berlin-based techno and house producer and dj oliver koletzki has fully committed himself to his roots for this album. they can be traced back to pop music of the 80ies and 90ies, while his productions still manage to transport the fresh energy of today’s electronic music productions. großstadtmärchen is a perfect example for a producers album: oliver koletzki has created a musically compact long player while working together with many different singers. both established artists like mieze katz from the german electro-pop outfit mia., the hot german pop-rock-singer axel bosse, critically acclaimed indie band kate mosh as well as newcomers such as fran, pyur and juli holz have contributed to the album. the result are ten songs that easily fluctuate between catchy pop tracks, modern house grooves and 80ies synthesizer pop yet still maintaining a very own koletzkieske sound dynamic. großstadtmärchen, which translates as the tale of the big city starts off with this is leisure. famous pop singer mieze katz has put down her sexy voice on a guitar-based song pattern that functions as an ideal introduction into the craziness of the big city tales. after hearing this, the listener is directly fully drawn into this world when hearing juli holzs softly whispering voice singing about the dilemmas of love in the big city on zuckerwatte (single release date: 7.9.09). this is a very fine electro-pop tune. coming up next oliver koletzki and axel bosse board an underground train that takes them around the berlin u-bahn system and back.
