kim rapatti a.k.a mono junk presents the second volume of finnish electro all-star on his dum records imprint – active since 1992. the new release is the latest chapter of mono junk collaborating with friends, recently with mesak and freestyle man. the a-side of finnish electro all-star (dum-040) features collaborations with top finnish electro duo morphology, who recently released an outstanding album on firescope label. electro por favor is a pulsating driving electro track with a killer bassline and vocals by rapatti – electro at its best. raw, apocalyptic, solitary remix by mono junk follows the original. the b-side features collaborations between mono junk and a very special guest: goner a.k.a. martin maischen, who is known from many hot releases as the other half of german electro act sandbenders. they were at most active around the millennium and made releases for force inc. music works and science city. the two included tracks are deep electroid techno excursions made last year in berlin – very cool stuff.

sami baha is a turkish producer based in south east london. his music was introduced to the world via his 2016 ep “mavericks” (planet mu), recorded while he was moving from istanbul to london where he’s now been living the last 3 years. sami got into producing through being a rapper himself, working with local rappers in turkey and producing beats for them, before setting his sights outside the country.
while his first record was focused around a more familiar trap based hiphop sound, “free for all” expands its range into more unfamiliar territory and also brings his production into focus by featuring a number of mcs from all corners of the globe: uk drill squad 67’s dimzy, stockholm’s yung lean and chicago rapper and singer dj nate (aka flexxbabii) who’s previously recorded on planet mu as a footwork producer. the record also features the rowdy sing-song of egyptian mcs dawsha and abanob from cairo whom sami met while on tour in egypt.

all flowers in time is the debut album from space captain, built around the themes of love and nostalgia with a pinch of bitterness and betrayal. with intricate arrangements of fluttering guitars, sparkly keyboards, and cyclical layers of background vocals, all bound together with dreamy indie-pop melodies for a sweet curve-ball of a finish, this beautifully crafted release takes the brooklyn 7 piece to new heights. extensive influences range from thundercat through amy winehouse to bon iver, but space captain are never anything but themselves, as this release shows. it sees the band moving away from the electronic and experimental sounds of their previous ep, instead taking them back to when they first formed, whilst also pushing the boundaries of their familiar r&b realm. for the band, all flowers in time quite literally signifies the flowering of their careers and the work they have put in to get there

for over five years, all day i dream has been where deep and emotive meet house music. propelled by a community of forward thinking artists drawn around the scion of master curator and sunset/sunrise set specialist, lee burridge. all day i dream formally welcomes lost desert to the label with the release of lingala, a two-track collaborative effort with burridge himself, that also features junior on vocals. lost desert was picked out of obscurity after burridge discovered his music while trekking in a remote area of a long lost land. a fast forged friendship inevitably lead to the studio, and lingala’s the enrapturing sophomore result. the duo’s first project together debuted on lee’s night time imprint, get weird, earlier this year to widespread support. lingala, is a beautifully composed ten-minute sonic journey. built around a mystical lead vocal sung by newcomer junior in his native linagles the raw emotion slowly builds in intensity over propulsive basslines and deep melodic grooves . gorje hewek & izhevski’s interpretation of lingala is a markedly different affair. focussing on musical layers rather than the vocal the duo’s signature spacey atmospheres and minimal rhythmic percussion add extra strings creating uplifting moments that contrast the original’s mood.

oona dahl joined us at all day i dream last year both as a dj and recording artists. her first release high eyes was featured on our summer sampler and floated onto the dance floor and into the consciousness of dj s around the world. oona studied sound design in the usa before moving to berlin over the summer of 2015 to continue honing and crafting her sound. her first full ep for adid features deep dreamscapes and innovative arrangements underpinned by solid grooves that capture emotive, twisted melodic expressions. she and her music are a trip to the depths.

bodytrax drops it s second ep of 2016 with another essential 3-tracker from bodyjack. laugh it up opens things up and we are in vintage bodyjack territory from the outset. rough (and we mean rough!) beats and percussion, vocal hook and a metallic riff combined with possibly his ugliest bass line to date to make this an essential addition the bag/crate of any house dj. slow clap strips things right down to just drums and bass taking the track into even more raw areas. warehouse vibes! the title track i m here all week on the flip is one of those simple but infectious house tracks that you re going to remember after a night out. once again, our man s synth n bass work duck around those sharply programmed beats he s know for to round off the ep with a bang.

first light is the first full-length album of original songs from easy star all-stars. the easy star all-stars have built a huge following around the world, having sold over 350.000 records and played shows in over 30 countries on 6 continents. the band - a collective from the nyc scene overseen by producer/guitarist michael goldwasser - has always played original music in its live set, some of which was released on until that day, an original ep in 2008. first light is an important step in the band’s story, demonstrating a wide range of approaches to reggae, from progressive to classic, roots to futurist, confirming the all-stars place as one of the most influential acts on the us reggae scene. the album includes 12 songs and one dub, with guest appearances by the meditations, cas haley, junior jazz, lady ann and tony tuff.

this trio of producers team up for this hot 12 inch on hypertone. the title cut kicks things off with a deep shuffling slice of house with cool melodic elements and vocals over a hypnotic groove. gimme the sound continues the vibe and desolat man hector kills it on the remix.

nima khak who normally releases deeper techno cuts on labels like h-productions, drumcode, isl comes with a release true to the 1:53.2 philosophy pushing the limits of what should be expected from the artists normal work. unlike his previous productions you will find a more laid back housey sound in this release.
the a-side track searching all around (for you) is an housey love song that is an absolute killer for those early morning hour sets!

the new, first time ever on vinyl 2lp reissue of a long way around to a shortcut is somehow a greatest hits of the golden not quite decade of sic alps. well, not quite golden, either. can gold be tarnished? can it be done on purpose? if so, sic alps are artisans of the highest order - for their music is the bright, surging sound of ye olde rock & roll radio (and the garages that tuned in) heard through air darkened with specks of nameless obstruction. in and amongst their ingrown sounds, sic alps take on classic tunes from strapping field hands, throbbing gristle and the zipps on a long way around to a shortcut. it is to their credit that they completely absorb their estimated predecessors and create the only sound left to them: the sound of the sic alps. a long way around to a shortcut was issued as a cd in 2008. it collected songs that were first issued throughout the epic years of 2006 and 2007 on two 12inch eps, three 7inch singles and a cassette, plus a song from a compilation cd r and a song exclusive to this compilation. the records were originally given titles like united, strawberry guillotine, semi streets, hip hop sweepers vol 1, teenage alps, and the soft tour in rough form, but all these original releases are long gone.

over the last year a new generation of young and ambitious house producers from frankfurt to mannheim have caused quite a stir. vera heindel is part of the scene in the rhine main area, which is the new centre for innovative and modern house and techno tracks, and peoples house, her first release on cargo edition at the end of 2008 received huge attention from critics and fans alike. this time around vera dishes up four top-notch house tracks for us which demonstrate her unique way of producing - using reduction and funk, the two constants of her music. jump the hump concentrates on two things: a devastastingly simple bassline and a vocal sample which gives the track a lightness and an understatement which you seldomly find in house tracks. miss fitz, veras project partner in mara trax, heads more to the dancefloor with her remix, but without giving up the special character of veras style. the b-side continues to drive with a high dose of funk. a clear organ chord gives ling both playful and elegant moments and with the vocal sample and the easy-going beats it becomes a typical vera- track. the final track on the ep hallimasch is espescially catchy with its melodic and complex style, triggering positive feelings all around

its all about housemusic its a spiritual thing! this statement from a former classic house recording fits perfectly to yves murasca and his attitude towards housemusic. his entire life had been constantly spinning around that uplifting housegroove from 120 to 130 beats per minute. although the munich based dj and producer is standing right at the beginning of his musical career he is already looking back at a number of well noticed projects. besides far more than 20 remixes only in the last two years for top artists like bob sinclar, barbara tucker, milk & sugar, jean claude ades or lee cabrera he became also a recommended radio dj with his own casa nostra radio show and due to the increasing demand on his club dj skills also more and more international bookings are taking place in the meantime.

see you around is the second vinyl release by margaret dygas and first on non standard productions. this 12 is a warm combination of healthy and mellow yet solid beats combined with rough shredded guitars. you’ll be hearing round edges as much as square bubbled sounds and psychedelic synths traveling through out both tracks. tobias freund was responsible for the production and the additional analog mixdown treatments. all in all a record that follows the idea of non standard productions.

brought to you by two of the sharpest selectors in the western us, origin peoples #6 simultaneously captures the essence of a period when dancefloors were not yet divided into a million sub-genres, when all that mattered was a groove that made you move. it also skillfully showcases the kind of refined beat mining we find today, when increased freedom of information makes even the most seasoned crate diggers bow down in amazement at the sheer weight of great music yet to be discovered.
