following our first release with opal. which aimed at the dance and the bodies. we wanted with this second ep to reach to people’s mind. as a geneva-based techno label. it was fundamental to work with our local hero: opuswerk. he’s already been working outside of the country with artists like francois x and labels such as arts. semantica or dement3d. it was time we involved him in our project. through this ep. opuswerk clearly shows what he knows and does best. much like his dj sets. he connects dots and layers in unexpected ways. like a rhizome connecting different multiplicities. inspiration for the original tracks came from designing systems of independent yet connected sounds. where events are triggered. un-triggered and alter other events. each behaving on their own. as one of those elements. the artist acts as a guide. directing them from one place to the next acting as and with the machines. the -mot d’ordre- is about becoming one of the machines. blending techniques with vibes and catching them like ever escaping dreams. the result is two uniquely sounding spaces. either filled with raw energy like on extensum or with subtle and serene ever-evolving bleeps on spatium. those two extremes are fitting to how we want present the multiple dimensions of our artists works to the world. the same logic went into choosing the remixers. with whom opuswerk had a human connection with. inland and antigone need no introductions. having both established their sound on labels like countercharge or token. each brought their own re-interpretations of the original tracks bringing them closer to the dancefloors.

when alexander (boddika) got in touch asking for some new fresh music i knew it was a really important step for me. nonplus is a stable reference label in the techno scene and it was a unique opportunity. i thought the open minded philosophy of the label would help me a lot and i could create more experimental works. i decided to produce the tracks in almost one take… turned on the synths and looked for the perfect range and character of sounds and spent some weeks recording it. finishing with some edits before the final mixing. the final results were more than expected. harmonic rain. the ep mains track has a really special groove. with a main melody which is transposed and slightly altering it gives me a good feeling. the ep feels to me like a complete journey itself. with peak time tracks. and more experimental and warm up music. loops but not loops. in summary. im really happy with this release and with the beginning of this musical relationship with boddika and the nonplus team.
the latest transmission on partisan brings two fast-rising producers into the spotlight. ish & cobert. for a split ep that continues the label’s exploration of stripped-down. psyched-out house and techno.
a heavyweight classic! don t laugh is one of those records. you know you ve heard it. you may not who. what or where. but you know it! the original winx mix is a classic. often imitated. never bettered. but the real gem here is richie hawtin s manic. almost borderline sinister 15+ minute reworking. monster doesn t do it justice. tweaked out. narcotic. minimalist jacking gear. a dope combination of severe low end and some bracing sine waves that cut straight through. this one will surely test any club sound-system. if the venue is built for it you will know! this is one for the real heads. pure late night business oft overlooked for the more famous a-side. but trust us - hawtin s mix will smash any dance! oh. and there s an insane laughing acappella for those who want to mix and blend! reissued. remastered and re-sorted for 2017

swiss artist and veteran producer ripperton contacted the esp institute out of the blue mid-2017 to share a gorgeous mix of self-produced material. a collection of pieces made without any agenda outside of representing the self. not geared toward the dancefloor or a specific environment but simply a bi-product of introspective exploration. we were floored. the mix was on constant repeat in our world for weeks. then was subsequently pulled apart into separate titles to form this beautiful double lp. ripperton’s debut with the label. the title sight seeing speaks of someone stepping outside their current reality to look in the mirror. as if to ground themselves and keep sight of who they are in a world of extreme highs and lows. inspired greatly by expansive landscapes and views from airplane windows (imagine your commute flying over the alps every weekend). ripperton describes this collection as postcards to himself. messages from his subconscious recorded on tape (both conceptually and literally). melancholy soundtracks to the mondays that follow weekend journeys. while musical genres tend to cycle through bandwagon moments. the esp institute strives to operate independently of these. and while sight seeing is undoubtably an ambient album. we’re simply proud to revel in the chance moment where an esteemed artist such as ripperton spreads his wings in a beautifully unexpected mode of expression.

to differentiate between his solo dance-oriented work to the darker tones. kaczmarek aka paul ritch launched his new album titled iiiiiiiiiiiiii on october 30th on his fresh imprint kczmrk. kczmrk is definitely a more personal project for paul. helping him define a newly found darker and more genuine taste to produce electronic music. which would even the most demanding audience left surprised. kaczmareks immersive sounds on his debut album were highly supported by respected artists of the underground scene such as sterac. vril. lewis fautzi. vsk and djedjotronic. who will contribute reworks that will come out in a remix ep in february 2018. the 12inch is gently introduced with a sophisticated remix of iiiii by techno pioneer sterac aka steve rachmad. continuing with vril’s remix of iiiiiiiiii who delivers beautiful ambient tones in a euphoric travel of sound. the b side begins with emerging talent lewis fautzi and his iiiis remix in a deep and hypnotic cut. followed by the curtesy of vsk and djedjotronics remixes of iiiiiiiii. vsk sticks to the dark and hard forms of techno with glimmer of deeper and industrial sounds while djedjotronic enrich kaczmareks dark techno tones with some futuristic idm.
vozduh (air) marks the first in a series of eps by nocow for figure. showcasing his emerging signature-style of electronica-tinged techno. drawing inspiration from the sheer endless winters of st. petersburg. his series builds on classic idm tropes. imbuing them with a noticably russian and deeply personal sensitivity. as each part of the trilogy is represented by an element. the tracks on vozduh are vaporous by nature: from the crackling ambiance of opener bouis to the weightless vocals on stoic forgiven. as well as a surprisingly introspec-tive take on ghetto-house or the wafting melodies closing out the records b-side - all forms seem to be in con-stant shift. casting a dense yet permeable body of sound. with two more releases on the way. which will be exploring the themes of voda (water) and zemlya (earth) within this artists singular spectrum. the outlook (which also includes a full- volume edition) on this approaching season is anything but gloomy.
voda (water) the second part of his trilogy sees aleksei nikitin delving deep into baltic seas. coming up again with chilled flows of acid on vdaleke. the bubbly yet driving thump of subaqueous place-holder. then he goes diving even further on the flip. cruising through underwater caves filled with ten-tacles of twisted. seductive electro. gnarly acid-techno. before finally emerging in iskatel. ears still ringing with harmonies of shredded beauty.
zemlya (earth). the final installment of nocows three-part ep-series for figure unearths the artist‘s maybe most drastic work to date. while opener libbi still sprouts gently into crystalline arteries of ambiance. the incessant arps of synchronicity loom ominously. equally challenging. yet offering conciliation in form of string-led soothing is rave button. after which the record finds closure in the seemingly open-ended sound spiral of troubles will be miles away.
