a slightly fresher direction with this ep - no, we’re not a couple is a funked up rolling thing with jungle subs, dubby hats and percussion, shifting textures and film score strings. cortisol is a stressful warehouse jam in 7/8, filtered every which way then taken to church. pacy but doesn’t really sound it. white mice is an afterhours, dubbed-out, drum machine samba workout for smoky basements. slow but doesn’t really sound it. hope you enjoy em! respect, mosca.

nsm002 is me, mosca, again. two not-house not-techno tracks, a little more raw and textured than my last 12inch but with the same emphasis on dark, sexy grooves and just enough dissonance and freakiness. the greyhounds is a dubby rolling thing with an indulgent breakdown that i wondered about scrapping. i ended up backing myself because the crowds i played it to seemed happy, and ive wanted to use those strings for eleven years now. i tried to make clinical trial for the basement clubs, dust and metal and tape. thanks for checking it out.

i d been thinking about starting a label for a few years but it never really seemed like it could work. nowadays there is more coherence in my productions it seems like the right time. i will be releasing music from other artists as well my own stuff - underground house, techno and the rest, stuff with darkness and sexiness. hopefully it is music that will speak to (somebodys) heart as well as their feet. the first release is called no splice no playback and it is two tracks of house music. vinny (flamingo) is a basement thing, suckle (twenties) works in warehouses too. thanks for reading. -mosca

very limited, hand stamped vinyl release of julio bashmore & swing ting remixes of moscas >tilt shift<. julio bashmore ups the tempo, warming the track whilst adding extra subs. with clever twists & frills he brings the track into new areas in a typically understated fashion. swing ting are djs samrai & platt, so called after their club of the same name which is one of manchetser’s most forward thinking underground monthly gatherings. they provide an instantly effective blend of grime, garage & bassline with both their vocal & dub versions. their remixes display their deep understanding of these styles. with the vocal version they cooly chop the rhythms into a ruff dance floor workout while the dub takes things deeper & dreadier, finding natural space in the groove & rocking a pure sound system rinse out. support has come from all over including marcus nasty, mosca, wifey crew & simbad.

by popular demand, night slugs press bok bok and l-vis 1990s remixes of the labels smash debut release >square one< by mosca. >square one< declared war on genre limitations in uk underground club music, drawing influence from grime, dubstep, garage, house and techno to create something entirely new. fittingly, the night slugs label bosses use their remixes to stretch the tracks source material into two extreme opposite directions. l-vis 1990s mix draws out moscas trancey synths and hypnotic pads into an arching, cavernous crescendo, before dropping the track into a thunderous, jacking bigroom house riddim. bok bok puts those same synths to use as part of a crunked-out stepper, all 808 snaps and triplets fills that reference bangladesh, rustie and lil jon in equal parts, until he drowns it all in his signature washes of neon synth ecstasy.

bok bok & l vis 1990s night slugs, londons hub for futuristic club music, has gone from strength to strength in the last two years. 2010 sees the launch of the night slugs record label, bringing through a crew of supremely talented new protagonists.

taken from the pagliaccio album on moodmusic, filippo moscatello gets the remix treatment from his favourite house heads in the circuit.. quarion rocks houz into a frenzy of stabbing, jacking and deep bass for the full flavoured floor experience, indeed one of his best remixed to date and thats saying something. dirt crew hooligan and old school house head on his own, james flavour takes kleinmond on a trip to nyc about 1993 and slabs phat beats coupled with his trademark stabby keys and the one-note bassline to a late night belter. last but not least trickski shows their genuine talent in transforming houz to a peak-hour sub-120 groover, with live piano and a great chicago inspired groove that makes you yearn for more

an incredible album from brazilian rock legend raul seixas – easily one of the most important artists to emerge after the tropicalia generation – and a singer with a sound that’s as striking as his image on the cover! the album’s got an explosive blend of styles – everything from psychedelic samba to country rock to easy rock tunes – all bound together by the strong sense of presence that helped seixas elevate to become one of brazili’s most controversial rock stars of the time, all with the kind of legacy you might expect from the cover image! the sound is great – very different than what american and anglo groups were doing at the time, although with sly nods to their modes from time to time – and titles include the english track -how could i know-, plus -as minas do rei salomao-, -mosca na sopa-, -cachorro-, -al capone-, and the strange electronic -introducao-.
