last summer, the berlin-based producer and well-known remixer chris zippel (who already worked with the pet shop boys, robbie williams or ich & ich) already celebrated his very personal interpretation of modern and complex ambient between zwischen triphop beats and melancholic pop references by his genuine horizon album. with this ep, chillout producer zippel has chosen a way quite unusual for him by taking four tracks of the album, making them compatible for the dancefloor with a number of co-producers and proving that dub is still up-to-date in 2008. the ep starts with an interpretaton of electronic spain recordings producer mangelt: again, a straightforward energy flash between reminiscence and modern club sound, takes on the powerful post acid minimalhouse sound a la steve bug. the dane mike salta turns mirror dawn into deep techhouse dub, and also the schwerin-based downtempo producer andre muelle alias vakuum sounds shows that he is influenced by a timelessly valid unterstanding of dub and fragmented s mples by his version of glacier. finally, the tribal progressive house dub of blade remixed by kling klong impresario namito (berlin), undoubtedly the most famous remixer on this ep, goes right into your hips

zip ist nicht nur eine der umtriebigsten persšnlichkeiten der hiesigen house/techno-szene, sondern auch eines ihrer grš§ten rŠtsel. er scheut das rampenlicht, ist aber in allen bereichen elektronischer clubmusik allgegenwŠrtig: als dj (mit residenzen in der berliner panorama bar und im offenbacher robert johnson), als erfolgreicher labelbetreiber (perlon, mit dem hauptact ricardo villalobos) und als produzent (dimbiman). zip hat es sich nicht nehmen lassen, der einladung der legendŠren fabric-serie folgend, eine eigene ausgabe abzuliefern, bei der er auf nonkonformistische art und weise techno-takte aufbricht und sie in warme deep-house-grooves ŸberfŸhrt. das ergebnis ist so einzigartig wie schillernd und mit sicherheit eine weiterer meilenstein dieser kultigen ausnahmeserie.

slackk first came to the attention of most with an ep of roughneck uk house on numbers, before a series of more emotive, melody-driven records on local action and unknown to the unknown saw him emerge as one of the most unique and influential artists working in the peripheries of grime - taking the genre’s hallmarks and audio tattoos but placing them in a context that owed as much to eastern mood pieces and the complex melodies of classic jazz records, hinting at other key influences on slackks music. his debut album palm tree fire was a particular success: resident advisor calling it a beautiful glimpse into the mind of an under-appreciated producer.

for the first release coming in 2017 macadam mambo strikes very hard with a very special ep of radical dance music by the german band the blech revisited by hambourg’s based artist wosto. the blech released 6 lp between 1985 and 1996. their albums have become a treasure-trove of extravagant, groovy dance hall artistry. the forcefulness with which the blech flung their conviction from the stage into the audience was at once hypnotic, irritating and erotic. here wosto has selected two tracks from the zip zip lp originally released in 1987 (nichts wie vorher and zip zip) and one from the ich wollte meine schuhe zerschneiden lp (die einame trane) released in 1989, and transform them into strong powerfull dancefloor cuts. be sure of the efficient of the product, no need to talk more, let the music speak by itself. special mention for the magnificient artwork of lyons based artist hugo charpentier from the mauvaise foi collective
