we re very proud to announce the release of a new series of records, between modern retro-futuristic library music and idm, inaugurated by the fabulous bill vortex! also known as poborsk for about 20 years, patrice curtillat is one of the spearheads of the idm in france. he has been released on prestigious labels such as icasea (team doyobi), central processing unit, or flogsta danshall, and he is the cofounder of the skweee label mazout, so autechre were right by choosing him as the first part in lyon during their last french tour. recognized by his peers from scandinavia to england, he is a discreet but brilliant producer of the stamp of labels like skam or warp, with in addition a typical marseilles balearic touch. in this new project he reconnects with his old loves : funk, breakdance, house oldschool ... always keeping his inimitable style made of granular grooves, and pentatonic melodies in a sunny atmosphere. his -feelgood music- is the ideal soundtrack for a science fiction series, a 4g tv report, or a motorcycle race.

following a killer debut on optimo trax michele mininni debuts on r&s with the heavy hitting psych detonation of ‘rave oscillations’ hailing from southern italy, mininni s influences run to kraut, post rock, new wave and electronic amongst others, a long time dj he manages to condense his influences into beguiling productions that come as a welcome breath of originality. taking a heavy dose of inspiration from seminal kraut groovers silver apples, ‘rave oscillations’ builds from the hypnotic motorik groove and off kilter bass into a pulsing peak time anthem. on the flip, ‘vortex stasi’ takes things into a more psychedelic direction - dubbed out piano, jittery rhythms and spiralling swathes of guitar blossom into a truly tripped out, squalling, breakneck concoction. mininni s kaleidoscopic musical vision is a truly unique proposition, a myriad of different styles and genres deformed under his oblique lens to create sun-drenched space music.

in january 2011 mark was invited by erik wiegand (aka errorsmith) to make some presets for his new software synthesizer which he was building for native instruments. after developing about 40 sounds*, mark decided to rework his ul8 project by extending the pattern generating systems used in its construction, which he then connected to the sounds produced in erik s synthesizer. the result is this double 12 single, featuring 9 tracks and a remix from mark s friend and colleague mat steel.
