haunter records’ 2017 kicks off with two new displays of aural expansion by longtime members of the milan-based crew. twin singles from weightausend and petit singe that also mark the label’s first ventures into 7” format. through heavy use of darkened breakbeats and angular dynamics, each of the two producers sets out to have their unique sonic approach ring on throughout the sprawl.
matthias girardi aka weightausend keeps on compiling his private neuroses in a process that seems to achieve catharsis through gloomy analysis and maniacal surgical dissection. hammering down on his dubwise tendencies and his love for the dark side of jungle, he gives out his most club-oriented work to date, channeling two new bassy rollercoasters, including a new version of “green death”.

baertaub’s newest release wolke welcomes you with bazalt, a very tight and sharply shaped minimal techno track designed to awake your senses one by one from head to toe with small noisey cuts and bits that show their faces at certain times to draw a sonic geometrical map. next up is a relatively darker track rather than rain which again features those alien bits and is enriched with an unexpected and grande synth melody that somehow fits perfectly with the dark mood and alienating sound of the track. b side opens with the ztrl remix of bazalt which focuses on that witty geometrical face of the track and lifts it to an upper level with slowly building beats and hypnotizing loops. the ep closes off with the title track, wolke, which follows a very interesting trajectory: a tense sounding chord line is softened by a groovy bass and dubby touches and percussive samples which in the end provides an unexpectedly feel good ending to a positively minimal ep.

dj teech and taurus impex limited are the pseudonyms chosen by marieu and lucretio for their unconventional output, and already signed by berceuse heroique and knick knacks yoda. -coup d etat- is a collection of 4 cutting edge tracks at the boundaries of techno and house music. -digital bacteria- and -cgl- are two dancefloor minimalistic busters with a quick pace, with shuffled percussion and heavy digital sub basses coded over a steel cyberpunk texture. -pitchblacky- and -the perennial- have a very slow tempo but are injected of stinging hi tech funk enclosing a jacky essence that pour out from its experimental superstructure.

lumièreslanuit is glad to welcome istanbul-based duo bärtaub (mutlu san & batuhan güler) for the 6th release of the label. as in most of the duos, each of the members has his speciality. whereas mutlu focuses primarely on the music production, batu is known by istanbuls house/techno aficionados as a restless dj. bärtaubs debut ep is called rhizome (type of plant root) not without reason. beats, melodies and bassline jump over, crawl under and draw apart from each other in unexpected and non-hierarchical ways. in the end, they all come together in a harmonious manner that creates an overall of excitingly playful forest-like atmosphere.

with smashing contributions by electro lord legowelt from dirty brown the hague and bleep addict garçon taupe from the bourgeois slums of amsterdam, narrominded presents the fourth installment in its renowned split lp series. both sides of this split lp comprise a whole ep in length, and the contributions have in common that they are both deeply rooted in electro music.
on garçon taupes wittenburg ep, eighties infected drum computer beats and heavy bass lines pave the way for some rather cheerful and unpretentious melodies. the five tracks were mixed to tape at rude 66s triple six lounge studio, and reveal influences from electronic pioneers like yellow magic orchestra and mantronix, to todays acid freaks like luke vibert and like a tim. the end result is a catchy mixture of electro and acid.
legowelt explores the darker corners of electronic music in four tracks leaning on eerie vocals and grungy electro beats. his land rovers in astrophysics ep takes us to mysterious environments. we are spacing out on the force of the stars, the universe, etc, and dancing to hypnotic drums on a mystical trip to pago pago west samoa. legowelt not only knows how to to satisfy a dance floor, but is also capable of deeply appealing to the listeners imagination.

>hyphen< is a bumpy techno tune perfectly suited for peak time play. it starts of with this deep 808 kick and squelchy bassline followed by this mesmerizing synth melody which teases you all the way through-out. strum wie doh is a sophisticated mixture of minimal and techy house. it has minilogue-ish vybe to it. on the b-side tretau takes things into darker territory with killi. a steady groove makes your feet move and those crazy minimal sounds and effects make your head spin.

02am is an 4 track ep by the young producer hekkla from eindhoven in the netherlands. the first track is sunset strip , a slowly build house track that moves like the last waves of heat at the end of a hot summers day, walking home feeling satisfied, all ready for the night. saturday morning sentimentality is a hard to pinpoint track that sounds like the bastard son of a trio between the melancholic side of cyndi lauper, alphaville and the echoes of a cheesy saturday morning cartoon theme song from the late 80 s. on the other side memories of tau ceti feels like tumbling into space with only the memories left of a good time on an alien world, accelerating faster and faster but still enjoying it, even though you know that the vacuum of space will eventually kill you. finishing with the hardest track no math , because, boys and girls, it s no math... hand stamped artwork by frank koedood.

as one of the founding fathers of the uk techno scene, kirk s discography is staggering especially when you think about how he s stayed so true to himself and remained focus on what he does best – deep, atmospheric, soulful techno. so here we have 2 slices of said deepness in the form of alcyone and tau ceti . this is simply lush, machine music made with a lot of tlc from an original master of his game. stick it on your hi-fi whilst tripping or blast it on your car stereo whilst hurtling along at 4am for maximum impact
