here we have it, the final installment of the >django< trilogy from the unstoppable dorothys fortress. kill django kill is not letting up, from the opening introvision skit (an old vhs company), right through to yul bryner inspired, westworld skit, dorothy is back on form with this stunning ep. kicking off we have >gekko<, and arpeggiated analog monster, hailing back to the early scored synthesis of john carpenter soundtracks. >firefox< is the answer record to the now cult >silencer<, which appeared on the first 12, with its driving basslines and retro synth leads, this is sure to hit hard when played out. next we have >neon cities<, the 808 / detroit inspired electro track, blended with a lo-fi italo disco sound ! finally the daddy of them all, >hell cat< delivers the chubbiest disco groove around, guaranteed to get you moving, or your money back (not legally binding)

was i the wave? is the ophomore offering from montreal musician and producer miracle fortress (graham van pelt). miracle fortress gained international recognition in 2007 for his debut album five roses, a unique collection of psychedelic shoegazey-pop that garnered high praise from numerous outlets. it was also short listed for canadas polaris prize that year, alongside arcade fires neon bible and feists the reminder. while it bears little stylistic resemblance to his debut, was i the wave? is in some ways a similar offering, insofar as it takes us on a trip deep into van pelts unique musical mind. theres not much of an argument for calling this record indie-rock-its essentially an electronic offering--but existing fans wont find it too difficult to hear van pelts signature hooks swimming among the big synths, and deep beats. like five roses, it was created in isolation from top-to-bottom, with van pelt serving as composer, arranger, performer, producer, and engineer. taken as a product of his occasionally hermitic temperament, many of tracks here express themes of alienation, anonymity, or the desire for the assurances of intimacy.

roel funcken, one half of dutch electronica duo funckarma, delivers the >daze flextone ep<, his solo debut for eat concrete records. these four tracks highlight the latest take on his dubstep-fused electronica experiments. the result is energetic, original and extremely heavy. three of these tracks were previously released on cd only thru berlins ad noiseam but we couldnt resist putting it on vinyl for obvious reasons. extra track is a funcken remix of a track by dutchman krampfhaft, watch out for more!

altair nouveau consists of one brandon mitchell, a young producer from the west coast currently residing in san francisco. altair nouveaus music, though designed with the dance floor in mind, still evokes a personal element. it is the combination of these elements that give altair nouveau his indistinguishable larger than life, spaced-out future disco sound sure to cause a dance floor frenzy. raised in the sprawling city of san jose, california to musical parents. mitchell grew up with the encouragement of his father, an electronic music teacher at the local community college. brandon began educating himself by collecting albums from the likes of giorgio moroder, vangelis, ennio morricone and john carpenter. this gave way to newer acts such as in flagranti, prins thomas, lindstrom and several artists on dfa. the title track æspace fortress marks a bold and exciting introduction into the sonic landscape of mr. nouveau, combining g funk, p funk and a 4/4 disco foundation that adds up to something otherworldly altogether. released as a joint effort with the uber-hip dfa records this 12 features mixes exclusive to this release from ultra-talented irishman john daly who turns out a deeper take while michel morins criminally underrated nom-de-plume sneak-thief takes it deeper into spacey disco-funk territory.
