the drum library series, which began back in 2001, has prided itself on compiling the hardest, crunchiest and most rarefed drums from every source imaginable. we’ve held to this standard for over 15 years, providing professional producers & bedroom beat makers alike with the largest collection of quality drums available today. in short, the drum library series has become an industry standard. the ever-expanding, go-to kit for beat makers around the world. now, with the conclusion of the series at volume 15, you hold in your hands, what will be the last vinyl incarnation of the drum library series.
these drums actually constitute what would have originally been volume 4 and 5 before the masters were initially thought to have been lost in a flood that gutted the studio where, up until then, the drum library series were made. fortuitously perhaps, these last two “orphaned” volumes were discovered safe & sound in a storage unit just as vol.15 was wrapping up. we’ve compiled them both here in one special edition volume.

tapan are from belgrade, hosts to disco not disco and now delivering two slow psychedelic techno bomb s to crimes of the future s letterbox. we first met nebjosa and the crew when we played at drug store in belgrade for them in early 2014. upon receiving these we knew they had crimes written all over them. on volumes we have two very special remixes of an already heavy original starting with willie burns taking them into the streets of manchester in the early 90 s and spending a night on at the hacienda with no thought of the gentrification approaching. drvcvltvre is the second provider and in true style switches out the lights and a spectre looms over the dancefloor dripping acid on the dancers below. the ep closes with whos there? featuring the brain melting guitars of vladimir djordjevic. quite a debut we think.

repress! justin cudmore is the latest in the line of midwesterners to emerge from the brooklyn music scene, hailing originally from illinois. and you can hear it in his music, that mesmerizing midwestern groove and deep heady thoughtfulness. he debuted on honey soundsystem records, has released on the bunkerny and is member of hot mix, a dj trio that also includes mike servito and gunnar haslam. . to celebrate 10 years of no way back (a regular party in detroit...and beyond), the label is launching the acid series, a series of records on interdimensional transmissions inspired by the no way back parties. the acid series includes submissions from tin man & ectomorph, jasen loveland, justin cudmore, bmg & derek plaslaiko, jordan zawideh, dona, and romans. they all arrive in a unique sleeve especially created for this series, inspired by the decorations of nwb. the first 2 volumes of the acid series will be available in the merch booth during all 313: return to the source events, including no way back.

the chisa years: 1965–1975 (rare and unreleased) is a compilation album by south african jazz trumpeter hugh masekela. the album consists of 14 rare or forgotten tracks recorded by stewart levine and hugh masekela from 1965 to 1975 when they ran their own chisa records label. thom jurek of allmusic wrote “in sum, there isn’t a weak moment on this entire collection. it’s appeal is wide and deep and one can only hope this is the first of many volumes of this material to appear. bbe records has done a stellar job in making this slab available.” dan nishimoto of the prefix magazine stated “the compilation focuses on masekela’s original idea of “african american music.” from the early experiments of the zulus (a group featuring m’bulu) in mixing doo-wop, rhythm & blues and south african gospel and the mbaqanga/”grazing in the grass”-style work of the generically named johannesburg street band to the clearly fela-influenced ojah (masekela’s band in the mid-’70s, consisting of players from ghana and nigeria) and the readyfor-primetime belting of m’bulu, each track reveals a multi-pronged effort to find and challenge the notion(s) of how african and american cultural forms could interact.”
