the other side is back again, and this time bringing you three of romanias finest. the original comes from, faster who has put together a hypnotic and groovy ep which has had dance floors swaying left and right since its inception, with early support coming from the likes of priku, raresh, rhadoo and many more this ep is sure to make some noise. on the flip side, the duo that forms sit a,k.a cristi cons and vlad caia have delivered an incredibly smart interpretation of the lead track presarat cu bass, weaving along to keep you guessing after each bar. welcome to the other side!
a limited collectors pack containing both chapters of sit s invisibility lp black vinyl. fans of stripped-back, minimalist techno - particularly the eastern european variant focused around romania s thriving scene - will happily tell you that every release from christi cons and vlad caia s sideways invisibility theory project (aka sit) is worth checking. this pack containing all the tracks from their new album (both chapters one and two) is certainly noteworthy. it features a quintet of trippy, low-slung late night workouts seemingly designed to operate in the cracks between tech-house and minimal techno. there are naturally subtle variations throughout - a nod to dub techno here, a psychedelic acid line or dreamy deep house texture there - but throughout, their focus remains firmly on wonky early morning workouts - a future classic. max 1 per customer
the label’s latest offering comes from hamilton himself, who teams up with panick panick! label owner noha, offering a collaborative ep that is a fitting snapshot into the work of both individuals. the nohamilton ep gets underway with ‘lip service’, a rough-and-ready track with firm emphasis on a grinding, hypnotic loop that easily surpasses your average dj tool. highly finessed and progressing steadily, it’s the perfect example of how to do less with more. looking towards more sun-kissed planes, the duo deliver the ep s a2 track, a more heads- down cut that’s loaded with good-time grooves from the get go. sure to work a charm whenever it’s unleashed, ‘bored of life’ serves up an intriguing insight into both producers’ boundless studio output. romanian duo sit culminate matters with their ‘lip service’ rework. consisting of cristi cons and vlad caia, the pair have been excelling consistently, with both their resident advisor mix and latest release on the iconic sushitech label proving a potent reminder of this. taking the listener down the rabbit hole once more, they inject archie hamilton & noha s original with an eerie sheen, also adding an off-kilter baseline that’s hard not to get lost in. a suitably groove-led but unconventional interpretation, it closes off the ep with the sort of distinction we’ve come to expect from moscow.
romanian talent suolo presents may be for lokomotiv’s first official release.
cosmic frequencies induce an intergalactic trip as may be transports us into space, while complete paranoia aims for those special fast-paced moments on the dancefloor after-hours.
romanian duo sit (cristi cons & vlad caia) add colour to the stripped down beauty of may be with their interplanetary interpretation, featuring suolo’s signature dreamy soundscapes and bouncy rhythms. the remix is driven by a deep-toned bassline while more otherworldly elements web together an out of body experience that we know you will enjoy.
the release has received early support from raresh, barac, dubtil, arapu and cezar to name a few, mesmerising dancefloors and generating a wave of hype in romania and around the world.

drawing its energy from the rapid waters of the bio bio river and its grace from viña del mar’s golden sand, a secret society was born. and with its first release we get to feel this newborn record label’s mission: to bring together contrasts and smoothly harmonise them. extending on the whole a side we find sit’ near jam, provocative on all our perception levels, with sudden rhythm changes yet still loyal to its silky soft percussion. on the flip side funk e and luc ringeisen collaboration your house proposes a rough and ruthless bassline, high paced by uber obsessive hi hats and subtly softened by dreamy melodic bubbles. and how to better close this release than placing our states of mind into juice and bread, an enigmatic high altitude minimal landscape imagined by cleymoore and joaquin lledoo, filled up with buzzing sounds and washed away by strange windy loops. so this is it! secret society chile revelled its plans to the world: stay true to its chilean roots and expand its visions to far outer-lands.

cristi cons and vlad caia aka sit conclude their sideways trilogy with three dancefloor oriented tracks, meant to awake different feelings in each one of us. the sample embroidery molded into the pure acid form of angels will leave us smiling in wonder. the fast paced scratch theme from reconnect may satisfy our dancing hunger, or we can just lose ourselves into the myriad filtered bits of shadow, with its breaks sequence as our only guiding path. this is the last piece of the sideways’ puzzle, when the last droplets of energy left inside our bodies, after this 15 tracks long analog ride, are spent for seizing the present. the closing moment, when the curtain falls and our minds are still trying to decipher the hidden message. a message that points out to the diversity of electronic music envisioned through sit s creative touch.
cristi cons and vlad caia are household names that really need no further introduction. their dj sets are techno stories well told and their live act is already making waves worldwide. amphia is first and foremost the platform they use to broadcast their finest works. such is the case of sideways, their latest lp, containing more than a dozen tracks coming your way trilogy style.
the first part reveals six tracks on two heavyweight discs. although most of the tracks fit the usual sit musical approach, the listener is greeted with a wide pallete of rhythms. assemble is an atmospheric dub infused with violins and orchestral echoes. permissive starts things up with a playful bass progression and continues with lush pads and cryptic voices. brooklyn’s deep moody synths and monster groove render it broken poetry at it’s best. for sure it will resemble those early danceable mornings. on a more joyful manner we are presented next with bootcamp s sturdy baseline and playful modulated vocals.
mandatory claims a whole side of the second disc and so does come around. while the first is almost experimental but danceable and warm due to the occasional driving percussions and 303 sounds the latter is the star of the show. come around is 15 minutes long and comes with a story too. a great collection of tracks, a great story that backs each one of them makes the first part of the sideways lp trilogy a treat to listen and dance to.
bastedos returns with more signature weirdo disco not disco (but disco) cut-up cuts. this time the painstaking editing comes from a.m., last waltz, and bastedos themselves. side a brings us sit on this, a rolling, chugging, clapping, marimbaing, disco workout in the vein of material, which pulls you along through a peaky peak time vocal, a sexed up guitar break, and some chopped-up chanting, all the way to its inevitable hands in the air piano finale.
DONT SIT DOWN CAUSE I VE MOVED THE CHAIR (10 INCH)
10" Vinyl D06.06.11
autonation s sit on the bass was released on esteemed label r&s , 18 years ago in 1991.. (shit! was it really 18 years ago??)
autonation kindly agreed to a re-release two years ago after a meeting in a pub in ladbroke grove. sit on the bass has been a mainstay of label boss jerome hill s sets since it s release all those years ago and still sounds relevent and rocks crowds today.
autonation is none other than seasoned producer dave campbell who over the years has released a vast body of techno, drum n bass, and ambient music under the aliases kibu, hiryze, xtro, greenback and of course autonation on labels such as rising high, certificate 18, r&s, cue and guy called gerald s juicebox.
its an absolute techno classic, but not one of the obvious ones that get rolled out for every old skool back to the 90 s set.. so get on board and be in the know before everyone gets on it!!
jerome hill steps up for the remix on the b-side utilising some fierce rumbling sub bass and keeping the energy levels on 11 for the dancefloor..
this release has been cut super loud and is the first 2-tracker on don t for just this reason.
beautiful gems extracted from 78s records released during the 1930s and 1940s by cuban artists. a collection of nine extremely beautiful gems from the 1930s, the best era of cuban music, and one more explosive danceable track from 1947. cuban son, pregon, rumba and conga played by the most exquisite orchestras of this period, cuban artists who recorded their eternal masterpieces in cuba, the united states, france and spain. most of the tracks now on vinyl for the first time.
first-ever release of long-lost 1973 session by philly (germantown / mt. airy) jazz group and activist collective: khan jamal, byard lancaster, monnette sudler, billy mills, dwight james, omar hill and rashid salim.
fresh water is the debut work by london based musician and visual artist, jake marshall. across eight tracks marshall twirls and bends his sound palette around motifs of emergency and crisis, “i was interested in distress sounds, sirens, flares etc”. the many sonic limitations in fresh water demonstrate marshall’s uniqueness. all kinds of plastic, caustic sounds, german ambulance sirens, bleeps rattling off unknown morse code, the highly synthetic strings emerging from the silence, it creates a somehow organic yet inhumane, but addictive turbulence.
