nice price deal !!! patiently waiting for the year of the dragon to commence, nick chacona & anthony mansfield are finally back with a 3 track ep of epically mental proportions! hector works numero uno duo take on a true journey to house music neverland with the peter vs pan ep. almost two and half years in the making, the boys reveal their many facets of cosmic, sleaze disco and acid wonk. one the a side, pan vs peter is a tech funk heavy slow house burner, that shimmers with dubbed out guitar, thumps with low end and grooves the like the funk brothers at opium afterhours. think vacum boogie meets silver connection and you are almost there. starting off the b-side is the eps title track peter vs pan and its right out the gate ncam drunkhouse maddness. a timeless disco house groove with a bassline so big that we were certain that it was gonna blow out the lathe and never actually get cut (thankfully mastering made sure that didnt happen :). and to round things out, the boys get hard on the acid house tip with terrys nightmare, an ode to the grouchiest bartender at peter lugers steakhouse in brooklyn ny.

aniligital music is back at it with anthony mansfield and tal m. klein and their evil ways! building upon the successes of their previous collaborations, the villainous duo raises the stakes and take things deeper with this enigmatically titled three tracker. ciento ocho is spanish for 108, the tempo of the first track on the ep. a creepy crawly builder with 8-bit roots that culminate in a huge funk breakdown with an insidious bass hook (if you have any doubt,just fast forward 3 minutes into the track) next up is desayuno en timpanis which we think means breakfast at timpanis in spanish. needless to say this ones heavy on the percussive elements, including of course lots and lots of timpani drums. desayuno en timpanis gets going pretty quickly and doesnt let up. check the flanged upright bass breakdown for extra bigness! purely non-stop huge sound system busting dancefloor action. speaking of floor fillers, have we shown you our tiger bomb? bomba de tigre is the definitely the deepest track on the ep, but lest anthony and tal rest on the laurels of their 808 kicks and 303 basslines, this tigre is a stalking beast that explodes in a vicious classic house attack!

vinyl only, alex took his first musical steps by studying piano and guitar at the young age of 6. his fascination for the more outlandish, experimental side of each instrument corrupted his lessons and sent him down a modular synths and tape loop composition wormhole. years later alex resurfaced, got himself clean and, through connections made while spending time as a vocal audience member (and sometimes uninvited participant) at lyman woodard, phil ranelin, and other tribe- and motown-linked gigs in cass corridor during the mid-1970s, spent time as a session musician for earth wind and fire, chic, and prince. it was only toward the mid-90s he found himself enthralled by the techno and house sounds of detroit and chicago so he went into the woodshed and came out firing electronic salvos.

nice price deal !!! some serious disco funk heat coming all the way from the pacific northwest on this blazer from beat freeze and tj gorton. >club cabana< is a hot percussive workout that flawlessly mixes old and new school vibes, with chunky drums, a sick bassline and cool synth washes getting the dancefloor all hot and bothered. you definitely wouldnt be wrong to find this one in a dj t or prins thomas set. on the flip sfs anthony mansfield lets loose with his own remix that houses the proceedings up a bit with some cool synths and cut-up vocal samples. excellent stuff from these new-school disconauts

whiskey disco continues to explore the boundaries blurring the lines between original and edit, disco and oddity. wd47 is helmed by dutchman, olivier boogie, an artist known for strengths across the spectrum, in previous releases, we ve seen his editing on display, no goodbye is a fine balance between original synthesis and editing panache. thoma cher is a newcomer to the edit scene, but has been heavily involved in a disco and house renaissance occurring in shanghai over the last few years. his club chops have honed an acute ear, we love what we re hearing from him and can t wait for more. the b-side is everything a b-side should be: weird. label staple, alkalino guides us along a cosmic journey of boogie-down grooves. arps, baby. we love em. sf crew, jp soul & anthony mansfield have been attracting serious attention of late between outings on roam recordings and sightings at the famous burning man camp, disco knights. to say they are ravelords is an understatement. their pedigree is on full display in warlord, equal parts arp energy and huge (huge) lead, the right balance of fun and cheese.

the third release on palms & charms comes from tokyo club stalwart masanori ikeda (mansfield, ikeda x), who has had previous releases on the legendary flower records and cos/mes imprint snaker. a resident dj at london club wag in the early 90 s, masanori returned to japan later in the decade and has since provided the soundtrack to many a tokyo night-time adventure, most recently with his continuing residency at shibuya institution oath. with afro tipsy, masanori offers up a monster of rolling percussion and pulsating synths. feel the stress of the day fall away, your veins flowing as if with the very energy of a thousand suns. moving confidently to the dance floor, your head and limbs begin to move in new and unexpected rhythms. don t be alarmed - you feel good. on the flipside, the remix from almunia (claremont 56) takes you deeper than deep. the sound envelops you as you enter the club. the continental winds and low pressure lift you aloft and you circulate around the dance floor, carried far as if on a warm jet stream. the rhythm drives, dubbed-out guitar echoing through the night. leonardo ceccanti and gianluca salvadori taking you to new places.

tres gueros are three white brooklynites led by the amorphous producer sleazy mcqueen. this collaboration as a whole has been a few years in the making with two vocalists, two guitar players and if that wasnt enough, he brought in beef wellington for some additional synthesizing work.
this is a feel good indie-dance track that you will keep any crowd dancing. we have got some great remixers on board from nu-disco gurus anthony mansfield who runs hector works with partner and crime nick chacona. neighbour and his signature disco-house sound, along with newcomer dave allison who runs kinjo music. for good measure sleazy mcqueen has added a big room dub!

the phenomenal handclap band out of nyc dropped a brilliant debut album last year and first single >15 to 20< was a stand out track. hector works label founder anthony mansfield got the opportunity to remix the track and was so into the tune that he rinsed two versions. while these versions got widespread exposure and distribution from both friendly fire and gomma, anthonys remixes were until now digital only. we want our records! the disco mix is a slower funk version using the catchy vocals over a helping of sweet disco dubûthe punk funk mix uses all the elements of the track and points it for a dance floor!

these two fellas from upstate wanted to party, so we met downtown at the club later that night... fresh off the mystery meat imprints auspicious debut comes ncams double header deep house excursion. comprised of nick chacona and anthony mansfield, the bi coastal duo have reworked seemingly untouchable bits of discos past to come up with two sublime housey reworks. handle this is a firm favorite of one todd terje, and its no wonder what with its slow, hypnotic build. nick and anthony strip down a prelude classic to its core elements to create an otherworldly rework, teasing the female vox before they let loose midway through. the bongers is a not so subtle nod to the original source material, again with the boys retooling a classic from the prelude catalogue with dazzling results.
