its not always about super rares, we got to cover those lp tracks as well. how this never made it onto a 45 ill never know. michael henderson s brilliant let love enter has always been an underground classic and is about to get a fire lit under it once again, simply the finest brazilian influenced soul jazz fusion. michael s bass playing, vocals and production are all over modern american black music, having played for miles davis. norman connors, marvin gaye, stevie wonder to name just a few, his influence is huge right through the industry as well being a million selling artist himself. you can still here his bass sampled in many a hip-hop track to this day.

repress !!absolutely flawless boogie sounds on nycs sam records from 1982, greg henderson s -dreamin- was licensed from the tiny rain records label and no doubt gained some invaluable exposure to the early 80s post disco club scene that was in full swing at that time. breezy, soulful, sweet and most importantly of all funky, dreamin is an absolute pleasure to the ears. greg henderson only released a handful of records during his career (including the incredible henderson & whitfield - dancing to the beat) and was also involved in the production of some other classic boogie rarities (masterforce -dont fight the feeling, rome jeffries good love).dreamin has always been a sought after record, often fetching collectors prices of £100 - £200 a time. a sublime cut for all lovers of disco, boogie, funk and modern soul. now made available again, legitimately licensed, remastered and reissued in conjunction with sam records new york city.

originally released in france in the early 80s, the highest bidder has long been a dancefloor classic, combining snappy boogie bass and a stepping groove with gordon’s soulful vocals. sofrito and gordon henderson are proud to see these tracks legitimately once more, cut nice and loud on a 45 for optimal club play.

since the early 80s maddisco has been heavily into hip hop and electro, recording his favourite stuff from the radio until the late 80s when he started collecting vinyl and djing, chicago house and detroit techno were the first genres he went for after hearing them at the club rip in clink street, quickly followed by balearic, disco, funk, dub and ambient music some of which he heard at danny ramplings club shoom

blackcash & theo get back at it with the latest in this series of funk soul party edits. pleasure bouncy lady is an amazing funk break track, produced by jazz legend wayne henderson of the crusaders. the intro break has been extended, and is one of the all time classic hip hop funk breaks. elements of this track were sampled on brand new funk by dj jazzy jeff & the fresh prince, word to the mother (land) by big daddy kane, and church by de la soul. whatnauts why cant people be colors too is a soul / r&b jam with another heavy break, as sampled by q-tip, pete rock, diamond d, dilla, and oh my god by a tribe called quest featuring busta rhymes.

o celebrate the 25th anniversary of ugkãs first album, get on down goes the extra mile, presenting it for the first time ever on vinyl. and 2-lp clear vinyl at that, giving the strutting, funky grooves the chance to really stretch out on your system. back in 1992, southern hip-hop was still proving to the world that it could sustain a fan base that was chiefly raised on rap from new york and la. the geto boys and 2 live crew had made strong cases by the earliest 90s, and pimp c and bun b were ready to make their own. most of the trunk-bumping bass comes from drum programs and basic sampling on these tunes in later years they would build their sound into something even fuller and deeper. self-produced with additional work from houston locals bernie bismark and shetoro henderson, the tracks here are minimal, slow and menacing, which matched their lyrical approach quite nicely. you can hear the beginnings of the groups true greatness in these early lyrical workouts ¹ several taken from the regional cassette-only ep the southern way that got them signed to jive with tales of street hustles, relationships and self-reliance in a world stacked against them. they may have been done early-on, but that doesnt mean they arent crucial to ugks legacy cases in point being the three singles: something good, a charismatic update to bill withers use me up, and pocket full of stones (the latter featured on the menace ii society soundtrack). beyond the singles, deeper cuts like iãm so bad, feels like iãm the one whos doin dope and cramping my style made it clear to the world that this crew had the attitude and charisma to make even bigger waves in the years to come.

während roberts musikalische handschrift stets erkennbar bleibt, ist *hypermoment* eine stilistische weiterentwicklung seines sounds. mit seinen warmen, analogen klängen, seinen fields-recordings, den satten klangwelten und üppigen pianos, erlaubt dieses album noch mehr einsicht in sein innerstes, während es gleichzeitig die erste veröffentlichung ist, auf der roberts auch selbst singt (care, serenade, fernwood). die field-recordings nahm robert auf trips nach new york, berlin oder joshua tree in kalifornien auf, ebenso wie in seiner neuen heimat in silver lake, l.a., wo er unablässich an seinem album feilte. *hypermoment* featured einige alte bekannte, wie den in l.a. ansässigen künstler schwarzmodul, der auch auf *tsuki* zu hören ist, ebenso wie delhia de france, die auf roberts kürzlich erschienener *california dreaming* kollaboration zu hören ist. aber es sind auch einige künstler vertreten, wie z.b. uks fassine, mree aus new york oder stephen henderson aus kalifornien. *hypermoment* ist roberts bisher persönlichstes album.
