after more than a decade of deep, expansive productions on labels such as detroit underground and cpu, annie hall arrives on musar for a record typically rich in texture and understated grooves. indebted to vintage electro and idm, halls music is no throwback, always looking forward and moving dancefloors in the most unexpected ways.

it was only a matter of time before the detroit / sheffield music connection was made again, this time with annie hall taking a break from co-running detroit underground to make an appearance on like minded sheffield label central processing unit. annie dedicates this e.p. to women in science (marie curie, lise meitner, elizabeth arden and caroline herschel) when tenured positions for women working in the field were extremely rare. although the tracks appear to be straight from the science lab, don t let that fool you as each track is brimming with laid back computer funk with subtle melodies that keep you hooked. annie has deviated from her signature fractured beats and delivered an easy listening electro affair that s equally at home on the dancefloor as it is chilling in high fidelity. tenured positions is a limited edition (300 copies worldwide) 12- vinyl with printed sleeve, paper inner and shrinkwrapped.

the unstoppable tag team gerd janson and phillip lauer aka tuff city kids have another surprise up their sleeves with their first full on vocal track labyrinth, which is also a precursor of the soon to be released first tck album. who else but norwegian wonder woman annie could be better suited for the job on the microphone? the result is a timeless disco mutant for all centuries. and who else but new york don morgan geist could do the remix job? he delivers a notorious disco dub version that lets all of you disco vampires burst into flames. if this wasn’t enough tuff city kids give themselves a taste of their own sweet medicine and lift labyrinth onto the thougher club floors. for all creative djs, there is also a heavy percussion workout by mysterious dj oyster. here we go again!

a fifth edition of the mosaic split series arrives, pairing up productions from anne errez and clandestine, the production duo consisting of uk house/techno mainstays, neville watson and justin peace division drake. errez, of course, featured on the previous edition of this series and it s clear the leeds-based artist has made an impression on steve o sullivan with her tough stabs and dub flecked groove of * discovery inn* a perfect fit for mosaic. complementing this, the clandestine project looks to be a most promising endeavour for watson and drake on the basis of their two searing contributions with the urgent machine funk flex of * slave to the system* a proper highlight.

part four in the series sees mosaic return to its signature sound of the late 90 s : deep techno-tinged house. first up is uk house legend nail , who was in hiding in london and suffolk for a while , but is now back in his bunker in nottingham making music once again. his offering, -pharoah,- was created on boxing day 2013 especially for mosaic and contains all the hallmarks of classic nail productions of the 90s whilst maintaining a foot firmly in the present. if you like your house deep and sample heavy this cut is definitely worth checking out...on the flip we have two tracks from newcomer annie errez. annie is a resident dj at the mint club in leeds and has been developing her production skills over the last few years with appearances on holic trax , saints & sonnets as well as a very fine release on strobewax which she co-runs with fellow mint club resident bobby o donnell. if deep techno- house is your cup of tea then put the kettle on and listen to the sublime -bell curve- and the dubbed out bass monster that is auguste.- we are sure that you will agree that there is no doubt that she will be a producer to keep an eye on in the future
