the first r&b rec record is born from the encounter of two artists in the gloomy baltimore of the beginning of the millennium, after years in which their artistic roads proceeded in a very much parallel manner, without ever physically crossing paths, driven by their passion for analog instrumentation and the desire to find and create new rhythmics and sounds. it is in 2013 the two decide to join their forces to create their own personal vision of techno music and dance music in general. resulting in a hot and scratchy vinyl that combines dark, percussion sounds well known from detoit techno, with the sought after rhythmic of breakbeat and drum and base, of the british nineties. also packed with influences of acid-house, this record incorporates features of the so influential 80 s punk era, finally sinking it s roots in the psychedelic currents of the 70 s. the result is a brand new genre which is difficult, if not impossible to define. a unique way of defining dance music, in all its aspects, which is identified under the name of spaceship surgery techno.

wiederveröffentlichung von mobys fünftem studio-album als doppel-lp-set mit 180g schwerem vinyl. ursprünglich 1999 veröffentlicht, wurde es zum erfolgreichsten indie-album des jahres und in über 20 ländern mit platin ausgezeichnet. mit -play- änderte moby seine arbeitsweise ein weiteres mal. er nahm samples aus folk und gospel - viele davon entstammen aus dem archiv von alan lomax - und verbindet diese mit seinen elektronischen klanglandschaften. dabei schneidet er aus den samples schleifen, die er endlos wiederholt: bessie jones -sometimes- wird in -honey- über 20 mal wiederholt und so entfaltet er den hypnotischen sog, der diesen song zum hit machte. bei erscheinen wendeten sich viele moby-fans, die ein techno-album erwartet hatten, ab und das album schaffte es nicht bedeutend in den charts aufzutauchen. es sollte über zehn monate dauern, bis sich das blatt wendete und das album sich doch noch zum absoluten hit mauserte. mit 9 (!) single-auskopplungen und unzähligen lizensierungen an tv-shows, filme und werbespots entwickelte sich das album zum dauerbrenner und hat bis heute weit über 12 millionen einheiten abgesetzt.

dieses herbert grönemeyer-live-album aus dem jahr 1995 enthält 18 songs, die auf der chaos-tour in den jahren 93 und 94 aufgenommen wurden. dementsprechend enthält die scheibe viele tracks des �chaos�-albums. ebenfalls zahlreich vertreten sind hits der platten �bochum�, �Ö� und �luxus�. die großartigen kompositionen grönemeyers kommen bei solchen live-auftritten endlich in angemessener art und weise zur geltung. vor allem die älteren stücke wie �bochum� oder �männer� klingen in ihren studio-versionen doch ziemlich saft- und kraftlos, diesen typischen 80er-sound mit viel elektronik und wenigen gitarren kann man sich heutzutage wirklich nicht mehr anhören, und so ist man froh, dass der deutschrock-poet im live-bereich ein hervorragender showman und sänger ist und stets von einer großartigen rock-band begleitet wurde und wird.
die remasterte wiederveröffentlichung erscheint auf 180 gramm doppel-vinyl im klappcover.

der titel ist programmatisch. 1976 im new yorker hunter college aufgenommen, steht der große blues-sänger und gitarrist john lee hooker alleine auf der bühne. nur auf sich selbst konzentriert, spielt er den blues in seiner reinsten form. dieses album wird nun erstmals auf vinyl veröffentlicht (downloadcode inklusive). dies ist teil 2 der aufnahme seines legendären konzertes in new york, was ursprünglich auf dem label tomato veröffentlicht wurde. wie ein jazz-musiker, liebt john lee hooker es zu improvisieren. so sind die hier vorliegenden versionen einiger seiner größten hits wie �boogie chillen� und �hobo blues� einmalig - im doppelten sinne dieses begriffes. der im jahr 2001 verstorbene john lee hooker gilt als legende seines fachs. er spielte in dem film �blues brothers� mit und ist unter anderem mit einem stern auf dem hollywood walk of fame, der aufnahme in die blues hall of fame und die aufnahme in die rock and roll hall of fame geehrt worden.

in 2015 musician, producer, dj, record collector and tigersushi head honcho joakim played for the first time at mareh festival in boipeba, brasil. like many before him and many since, he found the experience a transformative one. and why not? so many like-minded souls gathered together on a remote island in bahia listening to the sounds of amazing djs while dancing barefoot in idyllic coastal settings all night long. what s not to like? it s quite a concept. in the moment of that experience, joakim vowed to head straight to the studio on his return home to try and recapture that magical vibe, which he did. and true to his word he offered it back to mareh for release on their imprint. a musical gift from the heart. the wonderful percussion and drums characteristic of joakim s productions drift in and around the mix and sit gently alongside the sound of the waves. beautiful arps reach out and capture the glittering stars at night and the first glorious sign of light at sunrise as the party continues. underneath everything the bassline continues to punch through, blending primeval carnival vibes with an electronic sensibility. lovingly mastered and beautifully pressed onto 10 inch vinyl in manila covers, this limited edition release is worthy of any record collection. it also represents a little piece of the magic that is boipeba, and will certainly fit perfectly into those balearic and adriatic settings too.
