green village is a label operating out of jersey city that deals in all manner of sounds from rugged house to scuffed up techno, but with a distinct bent towards broken rhythms and plenty of bass. this various artists 12- plies a diverse trade, with all tracks bound together by their ruffness. theft & toyc bring some loud and lurid bass synths to their snaking slice of oddball club music -atlantic-, while bd1982 places focus on dense layers of choppy drums and needlepoint acid arpeggios. eighth ruin delivers a truly head turning beat with the appropriately named -whip-, and then etch pays tribute to a classic movie with the excellent breakbeat science of -predator-.

love notes (from brooklyn) serves up another winner, this time with the sonic stylings of the illustious (and also brooklyn based) octo octa, whose not unimpressive discography already includes releases on such heavyweight labels such as running back, argot, and deepblak. from the opening, echoed chords and unique percussive qualities of eyes low, through the spaced out funk of touch formation, to the early morning vibes of i feel, this ep delivers on all levels. this is the 9th release on this fine american imprint and they show no signs of slowing down their sonic agenda.

two thirds of the hypercolour label team, alex jones and ste roberts, present the first initials 12 inch of 2013 in the form of shard in the hole by blue & green. otherwise known as bareskin & j.wiltshire, blue & green have already developed respectable reputation for themselves. bareskin, aka 19 year old josh thompson from winchester, has set his stall out with non-standard house workouts for losing suki and hypercolour while j.wiltshire has an imminent ep for the prolific imprint.as with previous initials releases,shard in the hole has a techno leaning stance, albeit one with a far from purist outlook. the title track is a broken 4:4 track that builds towards a solitary pulsing bass note and skittering high end percussion and arpeggios. bring me down on the flip is a housier groove complete with an unnerving bassline and clipped vocal samples complimented with distorted washes and theremin-esque tones.

to infinity and beyond. ufo95, alias killian vaissade is a french artist and electronic music producer. in search of unknown sounds, ufo95 travels through different worlds and different eras. he finds his inspiration in the psychedelic rock from the 60s and 70s, and in the techno scene from the 90s or even the idm scene, such as aphex twin... he also draws from the jungle and experimental scenes to propel a hypnotic, alienating and decidedly unique sound. very early on, music was his calling. mainly because he lived with his family above his parents’s nightclub. killian learned to play several instruments, he will also tryout rock bands in high school. as he turned 18, he chose to move towards music through sound engineering. first contact: he was then abducted by electronic music and, selftaught, he launched other artistic projects. he started playing under other aliases, and first live performed with rgs collective. recently, he landed in the reunion island in order to set up a family start-up, which works to reclaim environmental waste. recently back in france, he confined himself out into the countryside during the spring of 2020 and fired up ufo95, an unidentified fabulous object of music. he also released his first lp >popularity is overrated< on mama told ya label, in a cosmic collaboration with anetha. ufo95 is a good guy. be like ufo95. explore. enjoy.the b-side starts with syndrome. its earth-shattering kick and hypnotic atmospheres drag the listening into a weird, occult journey. ideal for the late-night darkrooms, metaphorically and figuratively. takaaki itoh, the japanese techno sensation and founder of the acclaimed wols label, follows up with his own rendition of the track. the remix from this remarkable legend within the scene is both eerie and engaging from the get-go. its driven by a thumping kick, playful hi-hats, and modular bells – a combination that combines the whole release and makes it such an essential for djs who are daring enough to take their set toward unknown territory. the planet x label is the brainchild of the icelandic techno artist exos where the harder side of techno is explored.

2016 repress , a dark and monumental piece of music, using simple but effective sound patterns, repeating them by adding nice delays and other smart fx, step by step slowly building it up in tremendously hypnotic fashion. striking indeed! on the flip side it s dusseldorf s loco dice, resident dj at ibiza s hippest dc10, a true global player, known and loved for his releases on timo maas label four twenty, josh wink s ovum, sven väth s cocoon and richie hawtin s minus. what a list...! but back to the music. his remix of -1000 miles- is less dark, more funky, smartly playing around with some short soundtips, gliding softly towards a quiet break, before evolving to full power, step !by step. the groove is the key! our tip: this 12inch will definitely be a guiding light for this year s summer, especially on the magic island of ibiza

bxl003 is the third release of the artist-run brussels based label bxl. this third release by simon halsberghe features a collaboration with sagat (real name wiet lengeler), who previously released on the brussels’ label vlek and had his music included in the fabric mixes of both ben klock and joris voorn. the track is called the set-up and is a relentless sawtooth rave tune that finds it’s balance between the heydays of belgian techno and more contemporary ‘hi-fi’ attitudes towards functional yet idiosyncratic dance tracks. on the b-side space tom sounds is a deeper and more hypnotic trip with lush broad pads that provide a space for the mind as well as sonic pressure on the body. the last track, snared, takes things into breakbeat territory. with razor sharp snares and a pulsating baseline this track lives somewhere in the venn diagram overlap between rave, front 242 and an air raid siren going off.

repress - unreleased early algerian synth electronic by ahmed malek, compiled and co-produced by flako. in the early 1980s, ahmed malek was already in his 50s, when he discovered synthesizers and electronic music for himself and started to experiment with sounds. the result was a mixture of ambient synth music, field recordings he made in cuba and a wide variation of different sound experiments that he also presented as different avanguarde music festivals in cuba and the us. none of it was ever released but we got a huge box of master tapes from his family and we re happy to present this different side of ahmed malek s music. it was compiled and co-produced by flako, a fan of early electronic and synth music. this is not a remix album though, flako s aim was to create an album out of 2 hours of material that sounds like it might have if mr. malek would have finished it himself before of his death. fully approved and licensed from the artists family. the album comes with an informative booklet with liner notes, an interview with flako regarding his approach towards the production and unseen photos. we will also release a third album by ahmed malek which will be more in the vein again of the music he is known for and this album will also be previously unreleased.
