Two thirds of the Hypercolour label team, Alex Jones and Ste Roberts, present the first Initials 12 inch of 2013 in the form of Shard in The Hole by Blue & Green. Otherwise known as Bareskin & J.Wiltshire, Blue & Green have already developed respectable reputation for themselves. Bareskin, aka 19 year old Josh Thompson from Winchester, has set his stall out with non-standard house workouts for Losing Suki and Hypercolour while J.Wiltshire has an imminent EP for the prolific imprint. As with previous Initials releases,Shard in The Hole has a techno leaning stance, albeit one with a far from purist outlook. The title track is a broken 4:4 track that builds towards a solitary pulsing bass note and skittering high end percussion and arpeggios. Bring Me Down on the flip is a housier groove complete with an unnerving bassline and clipped vocal samples complimented with distorted washes and theremin-esque tones.
