while being best known for creating deeply immersive live psychoacoustic experiences, the london based pataphysical have allowed us to use periphera , the fruits of their debut studio work, as the label s eighth musical oblation. it would have been an exercise in futility to try and replicate the immediacy of their live performances on this record, but we feel that across these 8 disparate tracks inner worlds have been rendered real. through the careful positioning of field recordings and the creation of soundscapes somewhat reminiscent of heyday mille plateau the group have held fast to a desire to craft involved and captivating synthesis.

naïf 008 opens a series of five eps that will be released around the release of the dj-mix-cd also named naif which has its release in april 2018 the first strike comes with two blinding techno tracks: running man is a contribution by the gentleman of techno steve bicknell. the other comes from the young swedish producer that goes by the name of kuf and who is part of the arsenik crew. besides that we find two compositions by phillip sollmann himself that show his abstract and experimental approach. while aliasing bells is a texture of sampled tibetan bells tag3 by his side-project autolyse is a jam on a light-sensor-controlled custom-made synth. perfect for layering on top of a mix. after more then three years of silence as a producer, efdemin aka phillip sollmann returns with a striking hybrid concept that merges the album format with the continuous dj mix format, presenting completely new material in a seamless manner. the cd-mix, named naif, officially reinstates his label of the same name and is a sprawling tour of inner space featuring 19 distinct tracks from fellow producers along with an additional ten that feature efdemin himself (either as soloist or collaborator). the release condenses his decade-long dj-ing journey and evolution as a producer into a single potent elixir of contemporary techno. naïf consists of completely unreleased material from both himself and valued collaborators, all of which will eventually manifest as ep releases: five on his own naïf label and two more on curle.

kht 008 is coming from no less than the man who is called * the prince of techno* by his peers. and that is for a reason: blake was part of the first wave of detroit techno artists and dis and contributed to the techno movement from the mid 80s. tracks like “when a dream becomes u” or “our love” are milestones of electronic music, his style, which he calls “poetry and rhythm” is distinctive. for killekill house trax he delivers the acid life ep which comes along with two strong, acid driven tracks, the a-side darker and more chicago-oriented with its rhythmical focus and the punchy kick, the b-side more detroit-ish with its uplifting chords. timeless!

sdx is the producer alias of our resident dj beni, who delivered finest detroit techno for our catalogue number 008. catalogue number 009 comes with special remixes by legend rolando, known from labels like ostgut ton, underground resistance or deslin & max durante, known from sonig groove & diffuse reality. the original track the day she asks for forgiveness is a slowly building percussive 808 banger, built around a short vocal sample. rolando comes with a special minimalistic dj tool track. we are sure this remix will find place in lots of dj sets. max durante comes with a straight forward techno remix in his best own style. the third and last track of the record is a special bonus breakbeat track made by sdx himself. clitchy sounds and a special mood will bring you directly into another dimension. be prepared

frankfurt based producer, dj and music lover martin heimann presents his debut single salto on carry on 008. remaining faithful to its name, the small label puts out another piece of limited wax every once in a long while. enrooted in the soundscapes of 80s proto house the original version of salto is a thriving piece of octave liberation. consistent changes between harmonics break up the repetitive structure, while fm pads and the 303 are performing a little duet. the release is ennobled by two proper remixes from moon b (peoples potential unlimited) and jex opolis (good timin). while moon b keeps it bubblin’ with some extra analogue funk bounce and subtle italo dance floor energy, the b-side is jexi-fied with some embellishment to the cords, change in the bassline and a nice 808 snap. on top mr. opolis adds some mysterious but cheesy vocals samples that match perfect with the moody 80s orchestral stabs.

who is dj fett birger?? it’s dj fett burger, stupid. geography records straight outta malmö, sverige has awoken. please make room in your record collection for more stupid stuff from sweden’s third biggest city, home of great falafel and bad clubs. our fat friend from moss, norge takes some parts from shakarchi & stranéus eternal 2013 hit single ”either way” (geo 005) and turns it into a dreamy cheese-pop track ready for full, half-full and really empty dance floors. on the flip side the burg’ teams up with underground finnish talent stiletti ana for a literal take on the snl quote ”more cowbell”. please play it loud. for the third side of this single record release, burga’ fett flangs it out with a us style bonus beats, strictly for the djs! with this, you can play our record with an even nicer record on top! also perfect for shout outs, birthday wishes during sets or when you’re just really tired of melody and bass. all in all, a solid three track release to make it up to you that we forgot to release a record in like 1.5 years. sorry about that. geo 008 is already done, so don’t worry it wont be long until the next one! regards, adam & oscar

following up the fantastic summer re-release of upsetting keys “empathy” ep, path records follows with its first new catalogue number since 2006. path 008 marks the return of artist fate 258, whose 1999 “why 2k” path 001 ep has been a hotly sought after item on discogs. the three-track ep contains two exciting new mixes of cult classic techno track “the path”. the a-side version “path to hell” is the harder of the pair, a dark edgy journey into the unknown with shuffling 808 rhythms providing much of the melody. “path to heaven” slows the groove down and adds warm juno pads throughout the mix for a very deep detroit flavored techno style. on the final track “heaven or hell” sort of a broken beat downtempo piece, sparse vocals and bladerunner samples mix to complete the dystopian concept. these mixes of “the path” are considered pre-mixes, as they were completed in 1998 before the original release of path 001. fate 258 is a project from brooklyn producer reade truth, known for his work over the last decades on labels such as planet e, sonic groove, n-syde, wurst and strictly rhythm to name a few. limited to 250 worldwide, with the first 100 including full black and white cover art.

part two of the a made up sound 007/008 double drop. killer pan-around beats and morsecode-like pads build towards sonic mayhem on the a-side, while the b-side sees the highly anticipated half hour jam on a borrowed synth finally get its release.

slow town records has really picked up the pace this year, delivering essential 12- singles from riccio and qx-i, amongst others. here, they round of 2014 with an ep of positively edible deep house from fouk man hans peeman. in typical peeman fashion, there s plenty of soul to the liquid beats and rich chords of -prologue-, while -monologue- is an attractive saunter through classic detroit deep house with the restless energy of a chicago production. mr k-s remixes the title track, delivering a heavily percussive version that sounds like a plea to head towards the dancefloor, pronto. a touch darker and altogether heavier, it offers an excellent alternative to peeman s eyes-wide-shut original.

repress 2014 - next up in the 10 inch series on mos_deep another heavy 2-tracker of d marc cantu, which will be followed by a (mini)-album later this year. the opening track is a fierce chicago-styled banger kicking off with an extremely solid and frantic bassline while d marcs low-pitched voice asks us >how are we doing?<. the track slowly evolves into a deep and atmospheric masterpiece with spatial strings slowly expanding throughout the track.
>how are we doing?< is counter-balanced by the fragility and subtlety on the flipside. >a second earth< is a laid-back and emotional retro-futuristic techno track overflowing with sadness and melancholy, echoing the sounds of the artificial-intelligence era. like a lost vessel drifting through space this track captivates and terrifies at the same time. a beauty and a beast!
