after recently launching the d3 recordings label to a great reception, the man behind vibes and pepper is ready to launch his second new label, d3 elements. the artist behind the three track ep is raymond funnye aka strong souls, who back in the mid-nineties released on still much mythologised chicago label dance mania as well as the uks black market, which also saw him work with the legendary larry heard. the music he offers here is of a high pedigree from start to finish.

moss co. is a new creative venture from the founders of moscow records. the label releases intelligent underground music, focused around minimalistic combinations of groove and emotion. the first offering is a split release from label owner archie hamilton, and young romanian talent hozoc. hamilton pulls rank and leads with *celines dub* which is ethereal, groove-led and filled with tension. delicate tones, snappy percussion and warm bass fill the spectrum to gratifying effect. on the flip hozoc is in heads-down mode on *drama* taking you on a bewitching 10 minute trip, packed with organic instruments and syncopated rhythms.

crimes of the future is a new label from timothy j fairplay & scott fraser, and follows on from their night of the same name at the berkeley suite, glasgow and in plastic people, london. timothy and scott both work out of andrew weatheralls basement bunker studio on scrutton street and are part of a group of djs becoming known as the scrutton street axis. timothy is also one half of the asphodells with andrew weatherall who released their first album *ruled by passion, destroyed by lust* this year on rotters golf club.

124black is the new sub label from 124 recordings with the aim of promoting a darker, harder sound firmly rooted in the underground. all releases are strictly limited and available only on 10 inch translucent vinyl. first up is jacob b, rapidly gaining a lot of recognition for his deep and chunky club cuts, aptly demonstrated on >basement crowd< with solid drums, suspense filled strings, a spoken word vocal and a bassline that shows you exactly where the title of this track comes from. next is another 124 family member, liam geddes late night jam, >somebody in the house<. with its haunting stabs, groovy baseline and snare rolls, this a simple, yet very effective track that works equally as well in a small club or large warehouse! on the b-side, cecil returns to 124 with >bv< a track very much aimed at the dancefloor and replete with the producers signature deep stabs and chords, that work alongside a sub bassline that you feel rather than hear. a peak time track...
